"CAPTAIN?! CAPTAIN!!" The burly man yelled outside, his voice cracking with a mixture of raw panic and rising aggression. He began banging the door crazily, the heavy thuds vibrating through the metal and echoing down the dark corridor.
His knuckles were likely raw, but he didn't care. Their boss, the man they called the Captain, was supposed to end the two people inside the room—the inconvenient woman and the wayward Thorn boy—and facilitate an escape before the local police were tipped off by the inevitable trail of bodies and noise.
Receiving no response from the room, not even a muffled groan or the sound of a struggle, the man's face twisted in a mask of desperation. He couldn't leave without the Captain, not because of loyalty, but because of the final payment.
