Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: Alchemy Tools

Before long, a much-missed rain fell over the Sel Wilderness, the sky thick with dark clouds, and lightning danced like silver serpents within them.

Thunder clapped suddenly, deafeningly, as torrential rain poured down, the wind howled, and the dense curtain of rain engulfed the Sel Wilderness.

The Red Iron Young Dragon stood atop the hill amidst the downpour, rainwater sliding off his dragon scales.

Swish!

Lightning suddenly streaked across the night sky, illuminating the dim curtain of rain momentarily, and very precisely struck at the Red Iron Young Dragon standing at the top of the hill.

The speed of natural lightning is extremely fast.

Given the young dragon's current reflexes, it was impossible to predict and dodge it.

However, Galos had no intention of dodging.

In fact, he had deliberately attracted the lightning.

The serpent-like lightning descended from the sky, narrowly missing and striking the ground right in front of Galos, more accurately, it hit the Dark Gold Tail Ring placed in front of him.

The lightning appeared for just a moment.

When it faded, the night sky was once again shrouded in darkness.

But on the surface of the Dark Gold Tail Ring, numerous small snake-like electric arcs leaped, and the runes engraved inside and out began to glow one by one.

Feeling the scorching sensation in the air.

Galos felt a bit tempted to try wearing the Dark Gold Tail Ring and experience what it was like to direct lightning at himself.

Surely it would be both painful and thrilling.......he thought.

"Better not be reckless."

Shaking his head, Galos suppressed the impulse within himself.

The power of natural lightning was already comparable to high-level magic, and without any enhancement in lightning resistance, getting struck once wouldn't be fatal for a dragon body, but it would certainly be severely injurious.

He stepped back a few paces, quietly gazing at the Dark Gold Tail Ring in the wind and rain.

Time passed slowly, and occasionally, lightning struck down, accurately hitting the Dark Gold Tail Ring.

After a consecutive seven strikes, all the tiny runes on the ring lit up, and the entire ring even began to levitate, humming and vibrating, emitting blinding electric light in the rain.

This Tail Ring, a gift from the Iron Dragon Lady.

It was not just an ornament but also an alchemy tool.

On Bernardo Planet, alchemy was extremely advanced, with a large quantity of alchemy tools of high quality.

Unlike conventional concept magic items, alchemy tools often could be used without magic, but they required specific ways of energy replenishment.

Mages, warriors, knights, priests, druids...no matter what extraordinary profession, as long as it was a being of intelligence, and given sufficient funds and connections, they would definitely arm themselves with alchemy tools to diversify their skills.

As the top-tier monsters, the Dragon Race originally disdained using alchemy tools.

However, with the development of the era, the alchemy tools on this planet became increasingly exquisite and powerful, and even without top-tier beings, armies armed with alchemy tools posed threats to powerful giant dragons due to their sheer numbers.

Left with no choice.

The Dragon Race conformed to the trend of the times, using alchemy tools with some reluctance.

Because the Dragon Race itself was the top-tier of monsters, with strong spirits and abundant magical energy, they could easily handle alchemy tools and use numerous ones simultaneously.

Not many years passed before the Dragons began exclaiming in delight, transitioning from resistance to acceptance.

Dragons armed with a large number of alchemy tools became incredibly formidable, one by one.

Nations even explicitly prohibited transactions of alchemy tools with the Dragon Race.

Yet, dragons would snatch and seize, and being highly intelligent creatures, among them there were alchemists, and when the benefits were sufficient, there were always intelligent beings willing to take risks and trade with dragons.

Thus, alchemy tools gradually became popular among the Dragon Race as well.

The Dark Gold Tail Ring given by the Iron Dragon Lady was obtained from another dragon and could absorb natural lightning and store it, then with minimal magical energy and mental guidance, it could cast the magic—Lightning Enchantment.

Casting Lightning Enchantment.

The lightning energy harmlessly attached itself to one's limbs, stimulating muscles to enhance strength and speed, while imparting paralyzing and scorching damage with strikes.

"It's charged to the limit, time to give it a try."

Galos hooked his tail and put on the Dark Gold Tail Ring.

Lightning Enchantment!

Sizzle sizzle! Numerous silver-white electric arcs burst from the Tail Ring, in the blink of an eye forming a dense lightning net entwined around Galos's tail, crackling incessantly.

Unlike other dragons.

Galos's original intention in using alchemy tools wasn't to strengthen himself.

Rather, it was to use them to train himself.

Taking a deep breath, Galos prepared himself, raised his tail high, then swung it down forcefully.

Smack!

The dragon tail imbued with lightning energy lashed against Galos's own back, dragon scales and electric arcs exploded everywhere, and the current penetrated every gap in the scale armor.

Like needle pricks, a stinging pain and convulsive paralysis emanated from within, muscles stimulated, his back constantly convulsing.

"Powerful! This is exactly the feeling I'm after."

Galos was not frightened but delighted.

He became even more excited, repeatedly striking himself with the Lightning Enchantment on his dragon tail.

By adapting to the attacks of various alchemy tools, improving his resistances, he could face future sieges with more confidence.

In the Iron Fir Forest below the hill.

"Is the Dragon Lord having some kind of mental illness?"

Watching Galos in the midst of 'self-harm,' Möbel's eyes widened.

Meanwhile.

As Galos immersed himself in training.

The Red Dragon Sister Samantha, dragging her semi-disabled wing, walked through the rain-soaked, muddy wilderness, her dragon face filled with confusion and grievance.

Grr...the sudden sound from her stomach was louder than thunder in Samantha's ears.

"So hungry."

The young dragon clutched her belly, plopping down into the muddy water.

The stormy weather was already uncomfortable for her, and now coupled with hunger, Samantha thought of the blows and hardships she'd endured recently and felt like bursting into tears.

Just after leaving her territory.

Samantha was full of spirit, eager to announce her arrival to the whole world.

Soon, she discovered a goblin tribe.

Goblins, like kobolds, jackal-wolf folk, and the like, eagerly attached themselves to dragons, following them, making them one of the most common followers under young evil dragons.

Samantha swaggered down in front of the goblin tribe, demanding everything from them and for them to submit beneath her wings.

She thought that with just a ripple of her dragon body, the goblins would submit obediently, licking her toes and groveling.

But instead.

The goblins feigned submission initially, then upon realizing that Samantha was a solitary dragon exiled by a Dragon Lady, suddenly launched an attack.

Facing the numerous goblins who weren't afraid of her, Samantha was infuriated, ready to crush these weak creatures.

Then.

One of the weak creatures in her eyes, the chieftain of the goblin tribe, drove a huge, rugged steel creation charging towards her.

Samantha was startled, leaving a harsh word before turning and running away.

Thanks to being oppressed by Galos for so long.

When it was time to give in, she was decisive, narrowly escaping with her life.

Goblins indeed liked following dragons, but Samantha didn't understand the precondition: they liked following strong dragons.

An exiled solitary young dragon?

Don't be ridiculous, it was merely premium alchemy material delivering itself to their doorstep.

Not long after being hit by the goblins.

While Samantha was passing by a mining area, she lingered in the sky out of curiosity briefly, only to be discovered by the soldiers stationed around the mines, who then launched an attack against her.

Samantha reacted swiftly, fleeing again.

Yet, a rune-engraved crossbow arrow shot through the long sky, piercing her dragon wing.

From then on, due to the severe injury to her dragon wing, it was difficult for her to recover in a short time. Her hunting became increasingly difficult, and in her dire hunger, she resorted to eating dirt and tree bark to fill her stomach.
