Chapter 25 - Chapter 24: Mondo Thorn

Before long, six kobolds fled from the dungeon prison in a state of panic. One of them had a bloody hand, as if a piece had been bitten off by a beast with brute force.

"What's going on?" Shiji's face turned dark as he shouted angrily at the fleeing kobolds.

"Chief, the strongest giant demon hasn't fainted from hunger yet. As soon as we approached it, half of Aiguo's hand got bitten off and eaten by it, and then it went berserk..."

The kobold team leader, 'Ah Lu', who led the group remained relatively calm and quickly explained.

Upon hearing Ah Lu's words, a flash of surprise appeared in Shiji's eyes.

That strongest Level 4 Forest Giant Demon remained vivid in Shiji's memory. If not for some tricks, combined with a large number of kobolds, it would've been hard for Shiji to take it down alone.

However, Shiji clearly remembered that he had shattered all of its bones. How could it still have the ability to attack?!

Although giant demons have terrifying recovery abilities, it's challenging for them to die even with their heads blown apart. But regardless of how powerful their recovery abilities are, they must abide by the law of energy conservation. The more severe the injury, the more energy is required for recovery.

Before imprisonment, its bones had been repeatedly shattered multiple times. By the time they were locked up, the energy within those roaming forest giant demons had been nearly depleted.

In such a state, even a small wound would take a long time to recover from, especially after starving for seven to eight days without any food or water. How could they still resist so fiercely?

"Master, I will go down personally." Shiji's expression was somewhat grim.

Embarrassing himself in front of the Master was a display of incompetence.

His mood naturally wasn't good.

Udi looked at Shiji calmly and nodded slightly.

He didn't blame Shiji or the kobolds.

Kobolds inherently have weak combat power, even weaker than ordinary humans, so their reaction and unforeseen happenings were not surprising.

As long as they could find and mine resources for him, that was enough.

Nonetheless, Udi's 'generous and benevolent' character helped the panicky kobolds gradually calm down.

Wasn't it said that Evil Dragons had a fierce temper?

They hadn't completed their task successfully; shouldn't the Dragon Master have vented his anger by killing them randomly?

The six kobolds stealthily observed the Dragon Master, noticing he truly didn't intend to punish them, initially felt joyful, and then this joy quickly turned into fanaticism.

Kobolds, weak creatures of the lower strata, fervently loved to follow True Dragons, even if they were treated as cannon fodder, reserve food, or occasionally tortured and killed for fun. Despite this, many kobolds followed them relentlessly.

Was it their inherent intent to grovel? How could that be?

It was merely for survival.

Being cannon fodder under an Evil Dragon's control is better than being randomly crushed by a powerful passing demon or eradicated by other powerful tribes, human mercenaries, or adventurers.

Furthermore, following by the Evil Dragon's side offered a chance of becoming Dragon Descendant Followers!

A powerful True Dragon, the creatures staying in its vicinity for an extended period would naturally absorb its True Dragon Breath, transforming into the follower type with the lowest potential among Dragon Descendants.

Even the weakest Dragon Descendant Followers were enough for these pitifully weak kobolds to leap over the giant wall of vulnerability and step into the threshold of 'the powerful'.

If lucky enough, like Shiji, who formally signed a Servant Contract with a True Dragon, it was like soaring to new heights.

Within the Black Blood Tribe, as the Tribal Chief, Shiji was the object of envy and admiration by all kobolds.

Udi remained unaware of the intense change in mentality among these weak kobolds.

He didn't have to wait a long time before Shiji emerged from the dungeon prison, dragging three emaciated Forest Giant Demons bound by a thick stone chain as thick as an arm.

Due to the dungeon's structure, the three Forest Giant Demons were dragged on the ground, their bodies scraped as they were pulled out.

The confined space prevented even the ones possessing several tons of strength from exerting even a tenth.

Udi casually used the 'Identification Skill' on these three wandering Forest Giant Demons.

'Tier Three High', 'Tier Three High', 'Tier Four Initial'.

The two Tier Three High Demons had a height of about three meters and eight, while the Tier Four Initial Demon had a height of four meters.

Even lying on the ground, their dried-up flesh, resembling small giants, emitted an aura that instinctively made the kobolds step back a few paces.

Having emerged into the light after seven to eight days, the Forest Giant Demons squinted their eyes to adjust to the glaring sunlight before being drawn to the aura of a top predator and casting their gaze towards Udi.

The three gazes froze initially, then turned into shock.

They were indeed encountering a Black Dragon?

But looking at its size... it seemed like a Juvenile Dragon?

Uh... it should be a Black Dragon... after all, its scales are black.

Not all giant demons were like Gray's kind of anomaly. Most giant demons were a little short-circuited in the head, simply put, not very intelligent.

Yes, black dragon scales definitely mean it's a Black Dragon!

The strongest among them, the Level 4 Forest Giant Demon, staggered and clumsily stood. Then it wobbled towards Udi.

Watching this scene, Shiji was instantly enraged, and he raised the Demon Beast Bone Staff, ready to smash the brain of this giant demon daring to offend the master.

"Shiji, stand back."

Udi spread his dragon body and unfolded the dragon wings to their fullest extent, making his stature appear even more gigantic as he quietly watched the staggering demon approach.

Its dark green, coarse skin didn't emit an unpleasant odor; instead, it was a rich scent of vines and vegetation.

With a thud.

The giant demon knelt with both legs before Udi, then bowed its head with difficulty, striking the ground audibly. Its shattered bones hadn't fully healed, and there was no energy to facilitate their recovery.

"Mighty True Dragon, please bless Mondo Thorn with powerful Dragon Vein Power, to become your loyal follower!"

A weak, muffled voice came from the demon kneeling before Udi.

The atmosphere was solemn.

"You are quite decent; I'll grant you this."

Suddenly, Udi laughed a sinister, twisted smile.

He enjoyed this kind of straightforwardness.

Of course, this straightforwardness needed to be backed by strength.

Lacking strength and still daring to make requests to him was asking for trouble?

Udi manipulated the magic power to extract a naturally shed dragon scale from the reversed scale on his chest and forced out a drop of Dragon Blood.

After chanting incantations, the dragon scale and Dragon Blood under the invisible magic power slowly floated, gradually merging into one, the dark scales flashing a gleam of light.

With the continuation of the spell, rows of tiny characters appeared on the dragon scale....

Once the contract was written, the scale slowly descended onto the forehead of the kneeling Giant Demon Mondo, eventually fusing with its skin and disappearing, the Dragon Vein Power within the scale rapidly dispersing throughout the body, nourishing its flesh, muscles, and bones, fundamentally improving its bloodline.

Mondo endured silently the immense pain of bloodline transformation.
