Zhang Shuai stood frozen, holding his wallet, while Tian Xin continued eating without looking up at him.
After a while, he put the wallet back into his pocket, propping his head in his hands to watch Tian Xin.
A tear dropped onto his hand, unnoticed by Tian Xin. He turned his head and silently wiped it away.
"Boss, take your time eating, I'm going out for a smoke!" Zhang Shuai poured Tian Xin a glass of water, then turned and left the restaurant.
He squatted on the side of the street, watching the pedestrians pass by, silently lighting a cigarette and taking a drag.
Tears flowed freely down his face, starting as single drops and then turning into a torrent like a storm, blurring his vision, yet he didn't wipe them away.
He didn't know what he was feeling, couldn't figure it out, but he couldn't control the tears.
Tian Xin finished eating and came out, seeing Zhang Shuai squatting on the street, his shoulders trembling, thinking he was acting up again.
