The tail spike twisted into a shadowy blur, the air filled with the howling of torn currents, a lethal attack aimed mercilessly at Dongdong's head.
In Dongdong's vision, the shadow grew larger and larger, until it almost occupied her entire view.
"Crack!" The sudden sharp sound made Dongdong shudder, her breath caught.
She stared blankly at the tail spike just centimeters from her, its sharp tip only a few centimeters from her eyeball, so close she could make out the fine lines on it.
The tail spike hovered in the air, trembling slightly, never piercing through those last few centimeters.
Dongdong twisted her stiff neck, following the tail spike to look at the Blade Hunter, quickly understanding why the attack had stopped.
It wasn't because the Blade Hunter showed mercy.
Nor was it because reinforcements intercepted.
But rather that the tail spike had reached the limit of its attack range.
