Cherreads

Chapter 30 - The Last 45 Second

Below the two of them, there were hundreds of soldiers being crushed by an extremely heavy pressure of wind.

The soldiers screamed at the top of their lungs.

"GRAAAAAH!"

"STOOOOOP!"

However, the screams of those hundreds of soldiers instead became background sound for the next battle.

With his lips raised, Guiver sneered.

"See?"

His shoulders lifted.

"That proves you're weaker than me."

Hearing that, Basion, who stood before him, tried to ask,

"How did you take back the Statistics that I stole?"

He chose to question that and chose not to care about how Guiver had broken into Cyrn's space.

Because to him, he didn't want to know either.

"The Statistics you stole?"

"Oh, you mean that?"

Guiver acted indifferent.

Because to him, it wasn't interesting at all.

Basion's gaze turned serious, he immediately pressed Guiver for an answer.

"My Absolute Skill Steal."

"No one can take it back, especially since what I took was Statistics." Basion shouted.

In his heart, he muttered softly. "Even if there's a time limit, there's no way it could return this fast..."

"Answer me!"

*Grip. His grip on the daggers tightened.

However, Guiver didn't answer a single word.

Basion added,

"And besides, isn't your base ability Heal and—"

His eyes widened when he looked again at the Statistics Guiver had.

"Re-Ex?"

"What is that?!"

"I've never seen that word in any high-class person's Statistics..." He thought to himself.

Hearing Basion mutter "Re-Ex" reflexively, Guiver smiled again.

"Re-Ex... yeah?..." he murmured softly.

"Reverse?... Or something else?..."

He didn't know what it meant, but one thing was clear,he would use it to mess with Basion's mind.

"I don't know what this 'Re-Ex' you're babbling about is, but whenever something is taken from me, I'm always driven to take it back."

"I also just found out about things called Levels and Statistics like you mentioned earlier when I was spying."

He spread both arms as his words paused.

That smile widened even more.

"But one thing's for sure..."

"I am strong, right?..."

"Strong?!" Basion snorted in denial.

"With level 3?!" he asked.

"Level 3?!" He started muttering to himself, only now realizing it. "Huh… why is it going up and down?..."

"Earlier… I saw his level was 35..."

"At first, when I saw him, it was only level 2..."

"It rose to level 35..."

"And now it's level 3 again?..."

"Is it because of Berserker? Then it returns to normal when Berserker isn't active?..."

"N-No..." He shook his head. "I don't even know how Berserker works since there's no record of it at all..."

*Tsk.

"You're pretty arrogant!"

Basion immediately released his killing intent.

*Wsh. The wind around them slowly stopped blowing.

Even though both of them were above hundreds of soldiers, Basion didn't look like he was flying using wind magic at all.

The platoon leader, who was also being crushed by Guiver's Aether Pressure, immediately sensed Basion's killing intent.

"T-This?!"

Even though his head was pressed against the ground, his eyes tried to look upward.

"Y-Your Excellency..."

"Basion...?"

"GHAHAHAHA!"

"WAHAHAHAHAHA!"

In contrast to Guiver, he instead laughed loudly upon feeling the killing intent from the man in front of him.

The laughter slowly died down. "Hahaha."

It turned into a smile Basion never wanted to see.

"Let's see..."

"Who's the one—" *Cring.

An invisible slash flew toward Guiver's neck.

"Hooo." He barely dodged it, but,

"What kind of slash was that?"

His eyes glanced slightly to the side.

"You managed to graze my neck—" *Slash.

"Woohooo!" He dodged again.

He spoke while slowly looking at Basion in front of him. "That's dangerous, you know—" *Slash.

This slash hit his right hand.

Guiver started screaming as the pain came late.

"I don't like paaaaiiiin!"

More slashes came from another direction. *Slash.

*Szzzt. Guiver disappeared from Basion's sight.

"Heal."

Seeing no change after a short while, he grew annoyed. *Tsk. "Anti-regeneration again?!"

"Your turn, hold on for a bit." he muttered softly.

In an instant, what Basion saw was a young man who had been in pain now laughing in satisfaction.

"This sensation..."

"Hahahaha..."

"THIIIS SENSATIOOOON!"

*Szzzt. He disappeared again.

"Hey."

A soft whisper was heard from Basion's left ear.

Basion's eyes widened, "Wh—"

The whisper continued, "Give me more."

"Huh?!" Basion immediately leapt away.

"Deep Heart." he muttered softly.

The moment those words were spoken, Reigh froze.

His eyes didn't move at all.

His heart, which always beat loudly *Thump. Thump.now made no sound at all.

"What is this?..." Reigh thought to himself, unable to speak.

What he saw next was many bluish-white lights heading toward Basion.

"My turn." Guiver said softly, immediately taking control of Reigh's body.

At the same time, as the bluish-white lights slowly faded,

Guiver forced himself to speak even though his mouth was stiff. "Ttt... This... won't... be... EEEASYYY!"

The lights were immediately pulled back into his own body.

*Tch. "Useless too, huh..." Basion muttered inwardly.

"Is it because of that Re-Ex skill?!"

Looking again at Guiver's statistics, "His level even increased again because of Berserker..."

His eyes scanned the surroundings, "What if—"

"Guaaakhh."

"Huuuk."

His eyes looked downward, at his chest, where something like smoke-colored matter appeared.

"D-Damn it..."

Slowly, he looked at Guiver's emotionless face.

"How does it feel when your heart no longer beats?..." Guiver asked flatly.

"Do you know the pain you caused earlier?..."

"I'm still using wind magic." His eyes lowered slightly.

"And there's more."

*Bugh. Bugh.

From all directions, Basion was being crushed by something.

"Kaaah."

When the pressure didn't stop,

"I-I can't... breathe..." he complained in his mind.

*Dzzzt. He instantly moved away at high speed.

So fast that even Guiver couldn't see it.

But, "W-Why is it the same?!" What he felt was the same as before: he still couldn't breathe.

Hearing that mutter, Guiver turned calmly.

"Of course it's the same."

Seeing Basion's face desperately trying to breathe,

"Rather than removing all the air, which takes a lot of effort," he smiled faintly, "it's better to block your respiratory organs."

Basion stared at him in disbelief.

Guiver added,

"No matter how far you move, even if you go to a place filled with heavenly air, the result will be the same."

"Well..." He shrugged. "If you're a normal human, you can only last 1–2 minutes."

The corner of his lips rose as he spread his arms, eyes closed.

"The remaining screams of the soldiers below will only last 45 seconds."

"Use that background music for the end of everything."
