Remembering the bucket of water that had just materialized and drenched him after he lied, the man's face went stiff.
Ignoring his disheveled state, he scrambled out the door, shouting, "Miss Yanfei! Miss Yanfei! I was wrong! I'll tell the truth!"
But as he rushed out, he saw Yanfei already soaring into the air. Without a wind glider, she simply lifted off and flew toward the upper terraces.
"Holy crap! Isn't that Miss Yanfei? Since when can she fly?"
"It's just flying, what's the big deal? As Liyue's top legal expert, maybe she learned some Adepti arts?"
"No, you don't get it! She's not using a wind glider! She's just... flying! Look at the top of her head!"
"Whoa, you're right. That little bamboo thing is spinning!"
"I see it! It looks like a toy dragonfly made of bamboo!"
Outside the law firm, passersby stopped to gawk at the flying lawyer. The sight of her ascending vertically with a spinning propeller on her head was bizarre enough to stop traffic.
"Strange... I saw someone else flying with a kite earlier today in the plaza."
"I saw that too! The guy was holding the kite, but instead of the kite flying, he flew up! He almost hit the Jade Chamber before the Millelith caught him."
"That sounds tragic."
"Where are people getting these things? The gliding club hasn't released anything new."
"Those guys? All they do is repaint the same wings and charge double. Total scam."
"..."
"Could it be related to that mysterious Jar Shop?"
"Eh? Now that you mention it... that makes sense. Strange items, magical effects... even Lady Ningguang went there."
"What Jar Shop? What are you guys talking about?"
"Dude, are you even from Liyue? You haven't heard of the Jar Shop?"
As the crowd speculated, Yanfei—wearing her Bamboo Copter—ascended all the way to Yujing Terrace.
She landed gracefully near a staircase where an old woman stood with her hands behind her back.
Madame Ping smiled kindly at the young lawyer. "Well, look who it is. What brings you here, child?"
"I came to see you, Grandma!"
Yanfei plucked the Bamboo Copter from her head with a cheerful grin. "And to show you the new toys I got!"
"Oh?" Madame Ping's eyes twinkled. "New toys?"
She looked at the simple bamboo device in Yanfei's hand. She had seen Yanfei flying up with it. It was certainly more convenient than a glider.
"This is a Bamboo Copter. Put it on your head, and you can fly freely," Yanfei explained, handing it over.
Then she pulled out the wet Repentance Hat. "And this is a hat that detects lies. If the wearer lies, water pours out on them. It makes vetting clients so much easier!"
"Hoho, interesting," Madame Ping chuckled.
"And this card!" Yanfei produced the [Monstrous Sea of Fire Formation Card]. "It holds a fire formation. Throw it, inject some Pyro, and boom—a twenty-meter radius fire array appears! I got all of these from a magical Jar Shop in the city."
She was beaming with excitement.
"A card sealing a formation?"
Madame Ping didn't take the items but studied them closely. She had heard rumors of this shop over the last couple of days. Even Ningguang had visited.
"Grandma, you have no idea how amazing that shop is! And the owner is really young, like a big brother next door."
Yanfei chattered away, recounting her experience at the shop. Madame Ping listened quietly, a benevolent smile on her face.
...
Time ticked by.
Around 4:00 PM at Liyue Harbor.
A small fishing boat docked at the pier.
Cai Zihao looked at the three large barrels on his deck with unconcealed joy.
Two barrels were stuffed with fat, lively fish.
The third barrel contained six or seven rare, colorful fish—species that were notoriously hard to catch and fetched high prices.
Thanks to the Automatic Fishing Gloves, he had another massive haul today. Tomorrow, he could go open more jars!
"Zihao! You're back! How was the catch?"
"My Archons... three barrels?! How did you catch so many?"
"Zihao, what's your secret? One of those barrels is worth three days of my work!"
"Look at those rare ones! We don't see those once a month, and you caught seven in one day? Did you find a secret spot?"
A crowd of fishermen gathered around Cai Zihao's boat, their eyes wide with shock and envy.
His first big haul could be called luck. But a second one? Even bigger than the first? That wasn't luck. That was a miracle.
Just the common fish alone were worth a fortune. The rare ones were pure gold.
Every fisherman on the dock was red-eyed with jealousy.
"Hehe, just luck, just luck!"
Cai Zihao scratched his head, smiling bashfully. "No secret spot. The guys who followed me can testify—we were in the same waters."
"I was just a bit luckier today."
He wasn't lying. Several boats had followed him to try and poach his "secret spot." They caught a normal amount. He caught everything else.
He had simply dived underwater with his magic gloves. While the others cast nets from above, the gloves guided his hands to every fish in reach. They couldn't see what he was doing underwater.
"I don't believe it. That's way beyond luck."
The other fishermen shook their heads skeptically.
Cai Zihao used to be an average fisherman. Suddenly, he was outperforming the entire fleet combined. It was suspicious.
"I can't help it if you don't believe me," Cai Zihao shrugged with a grin. "Anyway, I'm off to sell these! Gonna enjoy life a bit!"
And open jars! He added mentally.
He planned to sell the fish, calculate his earnings, and dump most of it straight into Felix's shop.
He knew exactly where his fortune came from. Without that jar, without those gloves, he'd still be struggling.
He was filled with gratitude toward the Shopkeeper.
Even if he opened empty jars, he didn't care. He treated it as supporting the shop that changed his life. The gloves alone were a permanent wealth generator.
If he pulled more items? Even better. That would just help him make more money to buy morejars.
His goal: Buy out his weekly limit of ten jars every single week!
Thinking about it filled him with energy. He hoisted the heavy barrels as if they weighed nothing and marched toward the market.
Felix's shop was his motivation to work hard!
"So envious..."
"I'm telling you, he has a secret technique."
"I'm following him tomorrow. I don't care where he goes."
"Don't bother. With that much money, he's probably taking the day off to spend it in Liyue."
The fishermen watched his retreating back, sighing in collective defeat.
