Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Supermarket Terror, Mark's First Merit

Walmart.

After Martha learned that Peter was a single father, she enthusiastically helped him choose baby products.

Mark was placed in the stroller by Martha, squeezed in with Clark.

The stronger Mark immediately pushed Clark to the side and hammered Clark with the T-Rex toy in his hand.

Since Martha was explaining to Peter which formula was more suitable for infants under one year old, she didn't notice that Mark was bullying her son.

"Outer packaging, taste, nutrition, and cost-effectiveness all need to be considered."

Martha placed two cans of formula into Peter's shopping cart.

"You can try these two brands; Clark has been using them too."

Peter wanted to tell her that he intended to raise Mark in a free-range manner and that such meticulousness wasn't necessary.

But thinking that this might make him seem like a scumbag, he wisely remained silent.

Finally, after selecting all the items, the two queued up at the checkout counter.

Peter was holding Mark, and Martha was pushing the stroller, talking to him, completely unaware that a crisis had already descended.

Two minutes later.

At the end of the checkout line, a man walked in.

He wore dark Ray-Ban sunglasses and a V-neck T-shirt.

The man with sunglasses surveyed the crowd in the supermarket and pulled a Glock pistol from his clothes.

Then he raised the gun straight into the air and pulled the trigger.

"Bang!"

A gunshot rang out, and everyone in the supermarket was silent for a second.

Once they understood what was happening, the crowd immediately exploded.

Screaming, commotion, and chaos instantly erupted inside the supermarket.

The man with sunglasses seemed to enjoy the atmosphere of terror; he aimed his gun at a target, and with a "bang," the door was shattered to pieces.

Peter was also startled by the gunshot.

He knew that "Zero-Dollar Shopping" was popular in the U.S. supermarkets, but he didn't expect to encounter it so soon.

Before he could react, he was scattered by the terrified crowd.

Peter held Mark, wanting to leave the supermarket quickly.

But he didn't expect there to be more than one armed assailant; another gunman hidden in the crowd immediately opened fire on the crowd.

The gunmen, seemingly not aiming for robbery, began to indiscriminately shoot at the crowd.

On the other side, Martha, holding Clark, ran in extreme terror, but almost tripped over a body lying face down.

Looking at the body on the ground, a sudden urge to vomit rose in her throat.

Although she immediately covered her mouth, an uncontrollable sob still escaped.

However, her crying was not alone; people's cries rose and fell throughout the supermarket.

Some people hid in the aisles, while others rushed out the door but were instantly shot dead.

Immediately after, a thin man slowly walked towards her direction.

He also wore sunglasses, and his khaki pants were stained with something that looked like food or oil.

He raised his pistol, and with a "bang," a bullet flew over Martha's head.

Just as she was about to make a sound, a hand suddenly covered her mouth.

In her terrified eyes, Peter, holding Mark, appeared from behind her.

"Shh!"

Peter motioned for her to be quiet.

He held a stainless steel double fork in his hand.

Martha knew it was for barbecuing.

Peter and Martha hid behind the shelves; at this moment, Clark and Mark were also well-behaved, not making a sound.

Martha was so nervous she didn't even dare to breathe.

The gunman walked past, and Martha was just about to take a breath.

The next second.

The other party suddenly turned sharply and aimed his pistol at her.

Martha instantly froze.

At the moment the other party pulled the trigger, Peter, who had moved to the gunman's side at some unknown point, plunged the double fork in his hand into the man's neck.

The gunman, who hadn't reacted, turned his head to Peter in astonishment.

Peter responded to him with a clumsy spin.

The double fork protruded from one side of his neck, looking like a lever.

Blood gushed from around the wound, like a gurgling fountain, beginning to soak the gunman's neck and the collar of his T-shirt.

"Thud!"

The gunman fell heavily to the ground.

After taking down the gunman, Peter's heart pounded "thump, thump."

In his previous life, he was just an "Iron Worker"; he had only seen killing on television.

At this moment, for his own life, with adrenaline surging, he actually directly took down the gunman!

Does he have a talent for being a killer?

While his mind was filled with wild thoughts, his movements were not slow; he prepared to pick up the gun.

"Bang!"

Another gunman spotted Peter preparing to pick up the gun and fired, the bullet grazing his body.

Peter couldn't bother to pick up the gun and hid behind the shelves at the fastest speed.

On the other side, Martha looked in astonishment at Peter, who had taken down the gunman.

She didn't expect Peter to be so brave!

Her heart also pounding, she saw Mark, whom Peter had previously put down on the ground, and immediately picked him up.

The other armed assailant angrily raised his pistol and continuously fired at the shelves where Peter was located.

The bullets shattered the items on the shelves.

"Come out! Bastard!"

Martha, who was hurting from the fragments splattering off the shelves, tightly used her body to shield the two infants from harm.

"Patrick!"

Martha shouted to Peter, "If I unfortunately die, can you help me get Clark out?"

She had already started to prepare for the worst.

"Not yet!"

Peter frowned; he suddenly noticed a faint red glow in Mark's eyes, whom Martha was holding.

He remembered that Homelander seemed to have a move called Laser Eyes?

Thinking of this, he immediately took Mark from Martha's hands.

"Very good, Mark, think of angry things, activate your talent, you can do it."

Peter disregarded the bullets flying overhead, "Hurry and shoot out your Laser Eyes!"

Mark tilted his head, made "Eeyore" sounds, and handed him the T-Rex in his hand.

But the red glow in his eyes showed no sign of strengthening.

Peter's heart instantly sank to rock bottom.

He clearly awakened a superpower during the day, so why wasn't it working now?

Looking at the T-Rex in his hand, he hesitated for a moment, then hardened his heart and twisted off the T-Rex's head.

Seeing his beloved T-Rex twisted off, Mark immediately pouted.

The red glow in his eyes began to intensify.

His eyes, accumulating dangerous energy, seemed ready to shoot out powerful laser energy at any moment.

In Martha's stunned and shocked gaze, Peter directly rushed out, holding Mark.

"Stop, I surrender!"

Hearing Peter's voice, the gunman stopped shooting.

Seeing Peter come out holding a baby, he thought Peter had found himself a human shield, and the gunman looked at this "scumbag" with disdain.

"Scumbag, are you ready to come out and die?"

"No! I'm here to send you to your death!"

He pinched Mark's tender White little butt, and with a "waaah," Mark finally cried out.

"Zzz!"

Crimson lasers instantly shot out from Mark's eyes.

The powerful lasers, as Peter rotated Mark's head, also moved rapidly.

"Crash!"

The horizontally cutting laser instantly sliced the gunman's body in two.

With a "bang," the upper half of his body fell onto a shelf full of shell ornaments and beach snow globes.

The items shattered into pieces the moment they hit the ground.

Smelling the strong scent of blood and witnessing everything before her, Martha wanted to say something, but found that her mouth was completely beyond her brain's control.
