Rosa and Alessandro arrived back from Italy twelve hours after the second attack, looking jet-lagged and furious.
"What the hell happened?" Rosa demanded, surveying the damage to the mansion. "I leave for two weeks and everything falls apart?"
"The Bratva old guard survived," I explained. "They're mounting a counter-offensive. Targeting families, not just leadership."
"How bad?"
"Two attacks on us. Three on other Commission families. Connor's wife was almost killed. Wei Chen's daughter was kidnapped we got her back, but barely."
Rosa's face went white. "This is my fault. My operation. My responsibility."
"This is war," Dante corrected. "And in war, things don't always go according to plan. We adapt."
"How do we adapt to terrorists targeting our families?"
"We eliminate the threat permanently," Alessandro said. "No half-measures this time. We find every old guard loyalist and we end them."
