Chapter 36 - Chapter 36: Killing Three Birds with One Stone

"Child, why are you a wildling?" Maester Luwin asked.

At this point, I hope readers remember our domain name. A vast collection of Taiwanese novels awaits you.

Mufasa, standing by, thought Maester Luwin was truly senile, asking a wildling why he was a wildling.

The wildling boy, Aguda, said, "A foolish question. Would you ask the sun if it is the sun?"

Hearing his words, Mufasa secretly chuckled, "This boy is a bit arrogant! But quite interesting."

Maester Luwin continued to ask, still confused.

"Why did you come to Winterfell to rescue Mance Rayder? He's not one of your kind, is he? After all, he was once a Night's Watchman."

"Old man, I think you're truly suffering from senile dementia! Mance Rayder, only he can save the fate of us wildlings, only he can unite our scattered wildlings into one force!" Aguda declared.

Maester Luwin wanted to ask more, but Aguda said nothing further. He closed his eyes and lay on the straw mat.

"Mufasa, he's all yours! I can't get anything out of him."

Mufasa nodded and bypassed Aguda, heading to the cell of the female wildling who had shot him with an arrow.

"Ygritte!" Mufasa called through the iron door.

Inside the iron door was a red-haired female wildling. Her face was delicate, though she wore no makeup, and her teeth were all uneven.

Among the wildlings, she was considered quite attractive.

"Lion Knight Mufasa, I'm curious. Why didn't my arrow kill you? I once killed a giant with the same method."

"We are different from you. A standard knight is fully armored. Even if they appear unarmored on the outside, there is soft armor or similar protection underneath," Mufasa explained.

"So that's how it is!" Ygritte nodded, understanding how Mufasa had survived a seemingly fatal arrow.

"Why have you come to see me?" she asked.

"I want to extract more information about beyond the Wall from you. At least before you die, you should fully utilize your remaining value," Mufasa replied.

Although he didn't know when a seven-on-seven trial would begin, several of the wildlings were injured. If noble Westerosi knights were to kill wounded and sick wildlings, they would only feel dishonored.

Jaime and Robert, among others, didn't mind waiting a few more days, or even dozens of days.

Perhaps the only one who had an objection was Eddard Stark. Not only did he have to treat the wildlings well with food and drink, but he also had to provide them with medical care and medicine.

"Are you so certain that it will be us who die, and not you? We wildlings weren't raised in greenhouses. We grew up in ice and snow from a young age, and our strength and speed far surpass those of southerners our age," Ygritte said confidently.

"Perhaps what you say is true, but you don't know the kind of opponents you will face."

Mufasa sighed. He began to introduce the seven knights who would participate in the trial by combat to Ygritte.

Mufasa was a warg and had also learned magic. Although he couldn't use these in the trial, Mufasa's strength and speed had already reached 17, only slightly lower than Jaime's.

Jaime Lannister, the Kingslayer, was the youngest member to join the Kingsguard. His swordsmanship was superb. His strength was undoubtedly formidable.

Robert, needless to say, had killed the last true dragon, Rhaegar, the Demon of the Trident, in his youth. Although he was too fat now, weight was power.

In Westeros, where sit-ups and dumbbell exercises were not popular, even Jaime didn't have eight-pack abs or biceps, and neither did the Mountain. Almost every knight, when stripped, would essentially have a protruding belly.

So, although Robert appeared fat and weak on the surface, his strength had not diminished. It would still be easy for him to wield a warhammer and kill someone.

Benjen Stark was a Night's Watch ranger, intimately familiar with wildlings and their tactics.

Ser Rodrik Cassel was the master-at-arms of Winterfell. Robb and Jon were both trained by him. Although he was old, his strength was no less than that of a young man.

Jory Cassel, Captain of Eddard Stark's guard, was no ordinary person. He had personally participated in the Siege of Pyke, even fighting alongside Jaime, the Hound, Thoros, Jorah Mormont, and others in battle.

And the last person, Eddard Stark, though his strength wasn't particularly impressive? After all, even the Others didn't believe the story of him single-handedly killing the Sword of the Morning.

But he had a Valyrian steel sword, Ice, in his hand! If he went into battle with Ice, the wildling facing him could only pray for good fortune.

Ygritte listened to Mufasa describe the strengths, identities, and backgrounds of the seven knights. She knew they might be wiped out, but they could die; Mance Rayder could not. If Mance died, the wildlings would return to their divided state.

"He cannot die. He must return beyond the Wall alive! Ser Mufasa, I beg you, show us a way out!" Tears welled up in Ygritte's eyes.

"A trial by combat cannot be interrupted."

"However, if something else happens, there might still be a glimmer of hope," Mufasa said.

"Tell me!"

"You have red hair, right?" Mufasa asked.

Ygritte nodded. She didn't understand why Mufasa was emphasizing her hair.

"The Lady of the castle, Lady Catelyn Tully, Lord Stark's wife, also has red hair. If you can acknowledge her as your godmother, perhaps she can find a way to stop this trial! At the very least, she could get you out," Mufasa said.

"I'm just a wildling. Would she accept me as a goddaughter?" Ygritte asked.

"Normally no, but she is very wary of Jon Snow taking her son Robb Stark's future position as Lord of Winterfell."

"If you can help her, specifically by sleeping with Jon Snow and getting pregnant with his child, Jon Snow's reputation will be ruined. Although he doesn't have a good reputation to begin with, this would ensure Robb Stark has no competitor for the future Lord of Winterfell."

"If you can do that, Catelyn Tully would be very willing to accept you as her goddaughter," Mufasa said.

Mufasa's move gave Jon Snow a wife, Catelyn Tully security, and Robb Stark a future as lord. It was truly killing three birds with one stone!

"Then how can I meet Lady Catelyn? As a Lady, she wouldn't condescend to visit me in a dungeon, would she?" Ygritte asked.

"I can ask the Queen to help," Mufasa said.

Mufasa left the dungeon and went to Cersei. He first greeted Cersei and then made some small talk.

Subsequently, Mufasa steered the conversation towards Ygritte.

"Aunt, there's a female wildling in the dungeon. For the sake of the Mother, why don't you and Lady Catelyn go see her together? It would show your queenly benevolence," Mufasa suggested.

Cersei was stunned. For a moment, she didn't react, as Mufasa was actually asking her to visit a female wildling in the dungeon.

"Mufasa, what is your relationship with that wildling woman? You must remember your status! You are the future Lord of Casterly Rock! Not some wild child!" Cersei said very sternly.

She was afraid that if Mufasa got involved with that wildling woman, it would be a scandal for their Lannister family.

"It's not me, it's Jon Snow! He got involved with that wildling woman! Perhaps this is an opportunity, an opportunity to embarrass the Starks. We can do this..." Mufasa began to explain his plan.
