The convoy stayed at Harrenhal for a considerable time because it was already close enough to King's Landing. They didn't even need to ride horses; they could just take a boat along the Blackwater Rush to reach King's Landing. Thus, Robert relaxed.
Moreover, King's Landing had sent two people here to welcome King Robert.
The Captain of the Kingsguard, Ser Barristan the Bold.
And Prince Renly, Robert's younger brother.
Upon seeing Robert, Renly was greatly surprised by his change; he had lost a lot of weight. He had also brought his warhammer out again.
"My brother! What caused you to make such a change?" Renly asked.
"Crisis, the greatest crisis in history," King Robert said.
"There hasn't been any trouble in King's Landing, has there?" Robert asked.
"Not a thing! Everyone is much happier without you! Hahaha!" Renly chuckled.
Robert did not mind his impolite behavior at all.
"Your Grace, I saw a coffin when I arrived. Whose coffin is that? Surely no important person has died?" Ser Barristan asked.
He suspected that a knight or a Kingsguard member might have died, which was why King Robert was carrying a coffin!
"Inside is a dead man, Ser Waymar Royce from the Vale. He is the youngest son of Bronze Yohn Royce," Robert said.
"Don't touch that coffin! I have other uses for it," he reminded them again.
Ser Mufasa was flying in the sky atop Heraka, accompanied by Joffrey, Myrcella, Tommen, Sansa, Arya, and Bran.
"Wow! Oh!" Bran happily let out a wolf howl.
"This is my first time flying in the sky, not on a dragon, but on a lion! Ser Mufasa, how did Heraka become like this?" Bran asked.
"I'm not entirely sure either. When we went Beyond the Wall, we encountered a group of Wildlings, and one of them was a witch who seemed to have cast a spell on Heraka."
"But fortunately, he has great luck and vitality; he survived, evolved, and grew wings," Mufasa said.
What he said was naturally a lie, but there was some truth to it: a lion is essentially a cat, and cats have nine lives, hence the great luck and vitality.
Mufasa piloted Heraka to land on a ruined tower in Harrenhal.
Harrenhal has five towers in total, but none are intact. The upper levels of Harrenhal, having been cleansed by dragonfire, are unsuitable for habitation, and no one has chosen to renovate them.
Harrenhal currently belongs to House Whent. The Earl Whent is dead, and the Countess Whent is the ruler of Harrenhal.
However, she did not look kindly upon Robert, Eddard Stark, and the others.
This was because House Whent had supported the Targaryen Family during Robert's Rebellion. Furthermore, the Earl Whent's younger brother, Oswell Whent, died at the Tower of Joy.
It could be said that Eddard Stark was the murderer who killed Oswell Whent.
"This tower is so tall! It's much higher than the tallest building in Winterfell!"
Bran climbed down from Heraka. He peered out the window and saw that everyone below looked like tiny black dots.
"That's right, the kitchens here are as large as the Great Hall of Winterfell. The stables can house a thousand warhorses, and the Godswood covers twenty acres."
"The rooms here are large enough for giants to live in," Mufasa said.
"But, as the saying goes, 'Blessed land only harbors the blessed!' This place is cursed!"
"Look at House Whent; they dare not come up here. They live in the towers below the two-thirds mark."
"I'm going to climb down from here!" Bran suddenly announced.
He began climbing down the exterior wall of the Burned King's Tower, little by little, like an expert rock climber.
"Mufasa, hurry and save him! Bran is going to fall!" Sansa watched her brother anxiously.
She frantically shook Mufasa's arm, begging him to protect Bran.
"Don't worry! Bran has already passed his tribulation! He won't fall while climbing walls anymore," Mufasa said, waving his hand dismissively.
However, the slap in the face came swiftly. And it was Mufasa's face that was slapped.
Bran's scream reached their ears. They looked out the window and saw Bran falling, clutching a stone.
"Oh no!" Mufasa's expression turned panicked.
"Heraka, hurry and save him!" Mufasa commanded.
Heraka let out a low roar and swooped down. But he still failed to catch Bran.
Bran fell heavily. Mufasa and the others quickly rushed down the stairs.
By the time they reached the outside of the tower, Catelyn was already holding Bran and weeping.
Eddard Stark was anxiously searching for a maester. Finally, the Countess Whent's maester slowly arrived.
The surrounding people became terrified. They said one after another.
"A curse! This is Harrenhal's curse. No one who stays here comes to a good end. Those who went to the top floor will all die."
"Bran is the first, but he definitely won't be the last."
Many pages and maidservants were whispering this way.
"Bran, my Bran! Please don't die!" Catelyn was heartbroken.
After the maester's examination, Bran was found to be out of life danger, but both his legs were broken.
The maester concluded that he would never be able to walk again.
Upon learning this, Catelyn furiously came to question Mufasa.
"Why did you take my son to such a dangerous place? He's only seven, just a child! His legs are broken, and I want your legs!"
Catelyn was like a mad she-wolf, ready to tear Mufasa apart.
Many of Cersei's maidservants held her back.
Mufasa also showed remorse at this moment.
"Lady Catelyn, please rest assured, I will definitely cure him! I will return a healthy Bran to you," Mufasa said.
After speaking, Mufasa left. He returned to his room and began drawing prizes.
Last time, he saw an item among the prizes called "black jade joint repair paste."
So he decided to try and see if he could win it.
Mufasa's message at Black Castle was still providing him with popularity points, and his final visits to Deepwood Motte and Winterfell also provided him with quite a few popularity points.
Mufasa was currently embroiled in public controversy. Soldiers from House Stark and House Tully were secretly cursing him. Lannister soldiers and Baratheon people were also discussing Mufasa.
This provided him with a large amount of popularity points.
After all, popularity points have no distinction between good and evil, or positive and negative. The more people talk about you, discuss you, even if they speak ill of you, they are still providing you with popularity points.
Mufasa's current popularity points reached 1,500 points.
