Chapter 1 - Chapitre 1 : The Eyes That Open

The wind blew softly against the cracked window.

Bawress Diak woke up with a start, his breath quick. His heart was pounding, as if something had just pulled him out of a strange dream.

The small room where he slept was dark. A smell of dust hung in the air. As usual, nothing had changed: a slightly broken bed, a wobbly table, and an old mirror leaning against the wall. Yet that morning, everything seemed different.

Bawress rubbed his eyes…

Then he stopped.

His eyes no longer looked like they had yesterday.

In the mirror, two glowing circles blinked faintly, like rings of light. It was as if something lived inside them—an unknown energy, calm but dangerous.

— What's happening to me…?

His voice trembled.

He stepped closer and placed his hand on the mirror. The surface shivered slightly, as if reacting to his gaze.

For the past few months, the world had been experiencing strange changes. People talked about the "Energy of Renewal," a mysterious power appearing everywhere on the planet. Some gained special abilities. Others… exploded for no reason.

In his city, Nova-Roche, people lived in fear.

But Bawress didn't think it would affect him.

Not him.

He was just a simple student, without talent, without strength, without a special future.

He clenched his fists.

Suddenly, a noise echoed in the street. Quick footsteps, then a scream. Bawress opened the window. Several people were running, panicked, toward the city center.

— Another explosion? he whispered.

He knew he should stay inside…

But something deep within him urged him to go out.

His new eyes pulsed softly, as if calling him.

He grabbed his jacket, left the room, went down the stairs, and opened the door to the building. The air was cold and thick with smoke.

In the distance, a red light rose into the sky.

And a voice echoed in his head:

"Move forward, Bawress. This is only the beginning."

Without fully understanding why, he took the first step toward the city center.

Toward his destiny.
