Chapter 3
After leaving the infirmary, Tyrus followed Miss Victoria outside, walking for about ten minutes until they reached a large, round building.
"This is the training center. Students come here to train in magic and other skills," Miss Victoria explained.
In Tyrus's old world, this training center would be like a gym.
Once inside, Miss Victoria took Tyrus to a private room made of steel, about the size of a classroom.
"What kind of training will I be doing?" Tyrus asked.
"To keep up appearances, you'll need to learn swordsmanship, like the old Tyrus," Miss Victoria said, locking the door.
Looking around the empty room, Tyrus noticed the absence of swords.
"Where are the swords?" he asked.
"Here," Miss Victoria said, suddenly holding a sword.
"Where did that come from?" Tyrus asked, surprised.
"Spatial magic," she replied, putting the sword into a small hole in her palm, making it disappear.
"With this magic, I can store objects in another dimension," Miss Victoria explained, retrieving the sword.
"That's amazing!" Tyrus exclaimed, impressed.
Tyrus then suggested learning magic instead of swordsmanship to fight Koji.
"Forget magic. Tyrus can't use it, and it'll raise suspicions," Miss Victoria said.
Disappointed, Tyrus agreed to focus on swordsmanship.
"If you reach a certain level, I'll teach you magic," Miss Victoria said, motivating him.
Excited, Tyrus grabbed the sword and began swinging it vigorously, making many mistakes.
"You're using too much strength. Focus on speed and precision," Miss Victoria advised, demonstrating graceful movements.
Tyrus recognized the difference and tried to improve.
Half an hour later, Miss Victoria noticed Tyrus's progress and thought he might surpass her expectations.
But she also wondered about his true background.
The training lasted two hours until Tyrus was exhausted.
"Two hours? You're not very athletic," Miss Victoria commented.
Offended, Tyrus defended his strength, honed from fighting bullies in his old world.
Miss Victoria offered to teach him a little magic since he exceeded her expectations.
Tyrus eagerly accepted, even though he was tired.
Miss Victoria used a crystal ball to test Tyrus's magic affinity, revealing he had a talent for Dark Magic.
Tyrus worried about being bullied but decided to learn magic regardless.
Suddenly, a system activated, offering Tyrus a quest to learn a new magic spell.
Confused, Tyrus wondered about this unexpected development.
"What are you mumbling about?" Miss Victoria asked Tyrus.
"Huh? You don't see these texts floating in front of my face?" Tyrus replied, puzzled.
Miss Victoria frowned. "Are you making fun of me?"
"N-No! Really! Look! It's right here!" Tyrus pointed at the transparent screen following his gaze.
"There's nothing there," she said.
"Impossible… But I can see them clearly…"
"You're obviously so exhausted from training that you're hallucinating. Get some rest. We're done for the day."
"What?! What about magic?! You said that you'd teach me magic!"
"Trying to use magic when you're that exhausted is akin to suicide. I won't allow it. If you want to learn magic, then you should hurry up and improve your stamina so that you will have enough energy to learn magic after training with the sword, which is your priority right now." Miss Victoria unlocked the door.
"You know how to get back to the dorm, right? I'll meet you here tomorrow after school. Don't you dare be late again or I will not teach you magic."
After Miss Victoria left, Tyrus headed back to his dorm. The transparent screens had disappeared.
'Maybe I was really hallucinating…'
Later on, as Tyrus approached his dorm, he noticed a crowd gathered outside.
"Tyrus! It's really Tyrus!"
"Oh my god! He's still alive!"
Tyrus sighed. "Can you all stop acting like today is the last day you'll be able to see me? You'll have plenty of chances to see me in the future. I'm really tired and would like to return to my room."
The students fell silent until one mentioned, "Your room? It was cleaned out a month after your 'death'. You shouldn't have a room now."
"What? That's not possible," Tyrus protested, rushing to his room.
Minutes later, Tyrus arrived at room 1-G. He searched for his keys but couldn't find them.
'Oh shit! I left my wallet in my room today because I was in a rush to leave!' Tyrus realized.
"Do you need help opening that door?" a voice asked.
It was the dorm's manager. Tyrus explained his situation.
The manager unlocked the door and let Tyrus in.
"What the? This isn't my room!" Tyrus exclaimed, surprised by the different interior.
'Maybe the Tyrus of this world was assigned to a different room?'
"What room did I use to live in?" Tyrus asked.
"1-G, but like I'd already said—your room had been cleaned out because you were thought to be dead."
'If that's the case, where did I wake up today? It was definitely my room! Or did I get teleported to this world the moment I left my room?'
"I see… Are there any available rooms right now that I can use temporarily?" Tyrus inquired.
"Sorry, but this building is already at full capacity. I will ask the other dorm managers to see if they have an available room."
"Thank you."
Tyrus followed the manager to his office, where they found one available room in the old dorm building.
"The old building, huh… Well, it's not like I have a choice," Tyrus shrugged.
"Once again, I am really sorry about this," the manager apologized.
"Don't worry about it. It's not even your fault."
"Thank you. Do you know where the old dorm is located? It's about ten minutes from here."
"Yes, I know."
"The dorm manager there should be waiting for you. He has short red hair with a sporty face."
"Thanks."
Tyrus made his way to the old dorm room and met Hank, the manager.
"Tyrus!" Hank greeted him.
Tyrus nodded in return and followed Hank to his new room.
After settling in, Tyrus pondered about his situation as he showered.
'I still can't believe that I have traveled to another world. It feels so unreal, yet… Am I actually in a really surreal dream? Perhaps I'd entered a coma from the fight?'
Tyrus reflected on his future and his old world.
'According to Miss Victoria, I seem to have pretty decent magic talent… I didn't think I would have other talents… This could be a chance for me… A chance to change the purpose of my very being…'
'Although I won't be able to reveal my magic talents now, I can do so when I am powerful enough to protect myself. When that happens, I shall let the world know that I am not the same Tyrus they knew! That I am—'
Tyrus suddenly had the urge to open his eyes.
But what he saw made him scream and fall into the bathtub.
"It's a ghost!" he shouted, startled by the head sticking out of the wall.
"Y-You can see me?!" the ghost exclaimed.
'It can talk?!'
"Hey! Answer me! Can you see me?!" the ghost insisted.
Tyrus sat in the bathtub, stunned.
Ignoring the ghost, Tyrus finished his shower and pretended to sleep.
The ghost hovered above him silently.
"You're pretty bad at pretending, you know? I know you can see me. I'm not an evil spirit, so you don't need to be wary."
"…"
'That sounds suspicious as hell! Like something an evil spirit would say!'
"If you open your eyes now, I will show you my beautiful breasts!"
'Holy shit… What a beauty…'
These were Tyrus's first thoughts when he saw the ghost clearly for the first time.
"Are you disappointed that I am not naked? Or are you scared of my appearance?" the ghost teased.
Tyrus frowned. "I couldn't care less about your naked body, nor am I scared of you. Who are you? Are you really a ghost? And what do you want from me?"
The ghost looked surprised by his response.
"I'm not really a ghost, since I am not completely dead. I am what you call a 'Spirit'."
"What's the difference?"
"For starters, Spirits are living beings that don't have a physical body. My physical body may be long gone, but my soul is perfectly fine, and that makes me a Spirit."
"By the way, I have a name. Lisa. Nice to meet you, Tyrus from another world."
"Wha—?! How did you…" Tyrus's eyes widened with shock.
