Chapter 16 - A new house

The first to arrive at the center of the island was Athena, for she had been flying to get there. When she arrived, she ordered the horse to descend from the sky to wait for the others.

She did not wait long. After a few minutes, she felt that one of her brothers had arrived. When she looked in the direction from which she felt it, she was surprised by a giant three-headed dog charging toward her from afar.

She was about to prepare to fight it, but after focusing for a moment, she saw Hades near the dog, running with it. When she saw that, she relaxed a little from her combat stance, as it seemed the dog belonged to Hades.

When they approached her location, they slowed down, and Hades stepped forward to speak with Athena. The first thing he said in a calm voice was: "What is this, Athena? What is that horse near you? Does it have wings?"

When Athena heard Hades' question, she answered his question with another question: "And does the dog near you have three heads?"

When Hades heard that, he paused for a moment, then both of them burst out laughing at each other.

After some laughter, Athena said: "It seems you have many stories after all these years, Hades."

When Hades heard her, he said in a calm tone: "I am not alone, Athena. It seems all our siblings are like that… even you."

He was pointing to the horse, which had been nervous because of the huge dog nearby, but it was not cowardly. It stood calmly near Athena and did not move away from her. When Athena saw that, she laughed and gestured to the horse to relax… they were friends.

After she felt it was calm, she looked at the dog and said: "Where did you find this dog?"

When he was about to answer his sister's question, he looked toward the shore and said: "Poseidon has arrived, Athena."

When Athena heard Hades, she looked toward the shore and then said: "You are right. Let's discuss this topic another time then."

After a short wait, Poseidon came to the place quickly. When he saw them behind the creatures they had brought, he laughed and said: "What are these little creatures you have here, my siblings!"

When Hades heard him, Athena and Hades looked at each other, then looked at Poseidon again for a moment. Hades said: "What do you mean by that? Do you have a creature bigger than my dog?"

When he said that, Poseidon patted one of the heads of his giant dog and smiled, saying: "Of course, I have a massive creature in the depths of the ocean, much bigger than your dog, the size of a ship."

When Athena heard those words, she looked at Poseidon in slight astonishment and said: "Do you really have a creature of that size, Poseidon?"

When Poseidon heard that, he replied quickly and boastfully: "Of course I do. It's a very giant octopus, the size of ships."

When Poseidon confirmed his words, the two of them knew he was not joking. Hades responded: "How did you get that octopus, Poseidon?"

When Athena heard Hades, she also spoke: "Yes, how did you find an octopus of that size?"

When Poseidon began to answer them, he felt something and the three of them looked in the same direction. Poseidon said: "Wait a moment, and I will tell you all—Odin has already brought the slaves."

Then the two agreed on that, and not much time passed before Odin arrived with the slaves. He said to them while looking at the creatures behind them: "Have you finished your preparations so we can find the most suitable place to build our home?"

When Odin said that, everyone nodded, and Athena said: "Yes, we have already finished, Odin. But do you have a place in mind for where we should build our home?"

When she said that, all of her siblings looked at him to answer the question. He was silent for a moment, thinking, and then pointed to the highest mountain on the island, saying: "This mountain is far from the predatory creatures, and we can see the entire island from there. I think it is the suitable place to build our home."

When he said that, his siblings looked at the mountain he pointed to and thought for a moment. Then Hades said thoughtfully: "You are right, Odin. With the specifications you mentioned, it is indeed the best place."

The others agreed with his opinion and decided to go and inspect the place to decide if they would settle there. Then Poseidon spoke: "But should we take the slaves with us to the place? That will take a lot of time."

When Hades heard him, he said: "No need to take them. I will leave my dog to guard them from any danger at the place until we go and see the mountain."

When he said that, the others agreed with his suggestion and left the dog to protect the slaves. Athena also left her horse there, as there was no need for it to come; they would go on foot, and she did not need it.

She wanted to talk with her siblings about the years they had been apart, so she spoke with them all along the way, and each one told their story and what they had done over those years. When they finished telling their stories and each recounted what had happened in the past years…

They were amazed at what had happened to each one of them. Athena could not believe that Hades had almost died, and Hades was astonished that the octopus Poseidon had saved would grow to such a size in just a few years.

When Odin saw that they were about to reach the mountain's peak, he said to them: "Get ready, we have already arrived."

When his siblings heard what he said, they stopped their discussion and looked up. Indeed, the mountain peak was close to them.

They quickened their pace and reached the mountain peak. When they arrived and saw it, Athena said: "As Odin said, we can indeed see the entire island from here. I already see that it is a suitable place, my siblings."

Poseidon replied: "You are right, Athena. It is a suitable place to build our home."

Then Hades said: "And there are not many creatures here. The slaves can live safely until they fulfill their duties."

When Odin saw that his siblings liked the place, he said: "Then let's go bring the slaves here so we can settle and build the houses. What do you think?"

When Odin said that, his siblings agreed, and Athena said: "You are right, Odin. We have lived in the wild all these years; it is time to settle and build our homes."

When she said that, her siblings agreed with her words. Over the years, they had been very cautious of any sudden attacks from the creatures on the island and had lived in the wild without homes. When they finally found the opportunity to build a home after these years of living in the wild, they all agreed.

Odin said: "Then let's go, my siblings, and gather the slaves here to build our home." So Odin descended the mountain, followed by his siblings.

As they were going down the mountain, they talked about their future and what they would do in it. They discussed the matter of their lineage, for they cared deeply about it, as it would be the reason for their immortality. They gave this matter priority in everything they did or would do in the future.

They thought about what their father had said—that there was a possibility that a few of their descendants could awaken their power. What power would they awaken? As they were thinking about this and discussing it, Odin suddenly felt something strange and stopped descending the mountain.

He was sensing and trying to understand the feeling that had suddenly come over him. When his siblings saw Odin stop and focus, they were surprised. Poseidon asked: "What happened, Odin? Is there something?"

When Odin heard him, he came out of his state and thought for a moment, then said: "No, there is nothing. I just suddenly felt a strange sensation. Do not worry; let's continue descending the mountain."

When his siblings heard what he said, they felt that it was strange, but no one paid much attention to what had happened, and they continued their conversation and discussion as they had been doing. Only Odin was thinking about what he had felt: was it just an illusion?
