Chapter 211 - Chapter 211: Selling the Scarecrow

Under the scarecrow, a long bamboo pole was firmly pinned into the body of an old cloth doll. Needless to say, that tattered cloth doll had to be the cursed doll.

At this moment, the cursed doll was still waving its little cloth hands and feet, struggling desperately.

But the mighty spear was too powerful.

It had nailed it straight to the ground, suppressing it so completely that it couldn't move at all.

"Lord, this scarecrow is yours?"

Mr. White stared at the scarecrow and said, "It can actually ignore curses, and it can move on its own? Impressive!"

"Yes, it's the scarecrow that helps me guard the garden. Its name is Dumb-Dumb," Ethan introduced, "He was originally just an ordinary person who was harmed by the Wilderness Witch. As long as he guards the garden for one more year, Brother Scarecrow can turn back into a human."

"It really is a person? Then he can understand human speech too?", Mr. White's eyes sparkled brightly.

"He was human to begin with, so of course he can understand human speech," Ethan replied with a smile, "Brother Scarecrow, please help me put this cursed doll back into this box."

Blink!

The scarecrow blinked once.

Ethan thoughtfully placed the box specially made to block curses on the ground, making it convenient for the scarecrow to jump in.

Immediately after, the scarecrow quickly jumped toward the little coffin.

As if worried about damaging the coffin, it even jumped very lightly and gently. The moment the cursed doll fell steadily into the small coffin, Ethan hurriedly closed the lid, and the scarecrow cooperated as well.

Leaving the cursed doll inside the coffin while it jumped back out.

Right after that, Ethan quickly shut the lid tight and threw the cursed doll together with the small coffin back into the tail ring.

"Damn! That was scary."

Ethan wiped the sweat from his forehead. But clearly, risk and reward came together.

If not for today's crisis, he wouldn't have gotten this million worth scroll.

'Hahahaha!'

"Well… Lord."

Mr. White's eyes never once left the scarecrow, "Are you planning to sell this scarecrow? I can offer one hundred thousand dragon coins to buy it."

"Not for sale," Ethan shook his head, "He was a person to begin with. How can I treat him like merchandise and sell him? That would go against humanity."

"A rare creature like this, I think Count Drake would be very interested," Mr. White continued, "How about five hundred thousand dragon coins?"

"Uh…"

Ethan was struck by the power of money.

[Humanitarianism -1]

'Hey! Lord, you're not really thinking of selling me, are you!' the scarecrow shouted in Ethan's mind, 'You promised me that you'd let me stand guard in the garden for a year and turn me back into a human!'

'Standing guard anywhere is still standing guard. I can discuss it with Mr. White and let you stand guard at the Count's house instead.'

'Get lost! I helped you so much, how can you do this?'

'This is the power of money!'

"Still think five hundred thousand is too little?", Mr. White rubbed his chin, "How about this. One million dragon coins. I'll just earn a little commission fee."

"That's actually worth considering!"

Ethan was struck by the power of money again.

[Humanitarianism -1]

'Ethan, don't go too far!', the scarecrow shouted, 'Are you even human! You promised me, how can you go back on your word!'

'What's so bad about going to Count Drake's place to eat and drink well?'

'Get lost! I want my Attendant Five!'

'So you just want my Attendant Five, huh? I thought you couldn't bear to part with me. You shameless thing!'

'You're the shameless one! Why would I be reluctant to leave you! You're a grown man, that's disgusting. I'm not gay, why would I like you!'

'Heh! Heh! Heh! I've decided. I'm handing you over to Ivankov!'

'Don't… wait! Hold on, does that mean you're keeping me?'

'Of course!'

Ethan rolled his eyes at the scarecrow.

Then he looked at Mr. White and said, "I can't agree to the scarecrow matter for now. After all, there's a Lord contract between us. When he turns back into a human in a year, if you're interested, you can talk to him yourself."

"If he turns back into a human in a year, what would I want him for?", Mr. White shrugged helplessly, "Since there's a contract, what a waste! Otherwise, it could at least sell for around two million. If the scarecrow could even perform some dance or something, it might fetch around three million. What a pity."

'Three million?'

'As expected of a shady merchant. Good thing I didn't agree.'

Ethan silently cursed Mr. White. Just now he said one million was only for a commission fee.

'Heh, you can't trust even half a sentence from a shady merchant.'

'No…'

'Not even a punctuation mark.'

"Lord, you'd better let me look at the tail ring."

Mr. White seemed traumatized, "I'll check what's inside that you can use. If it's not dangerous, I'll take it out and show you."

"This… wouldn't that be too much trouble for you?"

Ethan said that out loud, but inwardly he complained, 'After you finish looking, who knows what will be left inside the ring. I'm not giving it to you.'

"Heh! If you're not at ease, I do have an inventory machine here. But it costs one hundred spirit stones each time. A bit of a waste."

Mr. White rubbed his hands like a fly, clearly waiting for Ethan to pay. Although Ethan had plenty of spirit stones, he just didn't want to make this shady merchant any richer.

So he scratched his head with a troubled look, "Spirit stones, huh? I don't have many either. How much is one spirit stone in dragon coins?"

"One spirit stone is normally about one hundred dragon coins. In the outskirts, because it's inconvenient to exchange, it's about one hundred and five dragon coins. Five dragon coins handling fee."

Mr. White explained the exchange rate between spirit stones and dragon coins.

Ethan scratched his scalp, "I see! Well, most of the items we inventory will probably be sold to you anyway, since I can't use much of it. For fairness, how about we each pay half the dragon coins?"

"I see," After thinking for a long time, Mr. White finally nodded, "Alright then. I'll pay five thousand two hundred and fifty dragon coins. As for the spirit stones, I'll send a message to the Mist Bank right now to exchange some."

"That won't be necessary. Just give me the dragon coins. I'll cover the hundred spirit stones."

As Ethan spoke, he stretched out his hand toward Mr. White.

Mr. White froze for a long while before handing over five thousand two hundred and fifty dragon coins to Ethan, "Didn't you just say you didn't have many spirit stones? You can casually take out a hundred and still say you don't have many?"
