Chapter 311 - Chapter 311 The Dazzling Sun Worms

Poker Face's movements were very strange.

Like a puppet being pulled by strings, he made a series of odd motions.

But Ethan, through the master-servant contract he had signed with the Insect Queen and the shared consciousness between them, could clearly tell that this was because the Insect Queen was getting used to a new body.

If some movements felt unfamiliar, she would just control them a few more times. Playing around like that, she would naturally get used to it.

Once the Insect Queen started getting familiar with Poker Face's body, she actually began grabbing the Life Spring Crystals on the ground by the handful and stuffing them into her mouth, eating voraciously.

However, as the Insect Queen replenished herself with food, the wounds on Poker Face's body actually began to heal on their own.

And as those wounds started to recover, Ethan even noticed slight changes in Poker Face's facial features. The changes weren't large, but they gave off a completely different feeling.

Poker Face seemed like he had turned into a different person.

He looked much more delicate, almost feminine.

And after the hundred portions of Life Spring Crystals that Ethan had taken out were all eaten one by one by Poker Face, the original wounds on his body were basically all healed. Meanwhile, those Sun Worms that had been living by gnawing on Poker Face's flesh actually stopped feeding on him and simply lay quietly on his body.

But Ethan could sense that at the tails of these Sun Worms were thin, long stingers, those stingers had pierced beneath Poker Face's skin, absorbing energy from his body, yet without causing too much damage to his flesh.

All of this, was naturally instructed by the Insect Queen.

Soon after, those Sun Worms began to spin silk one after another, and the threads wrapped around Poker Face's body, as if they were planning to form cocoons on him.

'But… doesn't it usually take seven days for a bug to go from cocoon to butterfly?'

'Even at the fastest, it should still take seven hours, right?'

'Wouldn't that be too late?'

"Master need not worry," The Insect Queen sensed Ethan's concern and immediately responded, opening Poker Face's mouth and speaking in his voice, "I've already consumed enough Life Spring Crystals. As long as I channel energy into each cocoon with full effort, they will hatch very soon."

"About how long?"

Ethan glanced outside with some worry.

He was concerned that some people might not be able to hold out that long.

Or perhaps… Nostradamus wouldn't wait that long and would just wipe out a few of his residents. Then what?

Poker Face spoke again, "Not long. Very soon…"

"No matter how fast, there's still a time—"

Ethan had just started to argue that no matter how fast it was, there had to be some duration.

But before he could finish speaking, the cocoons that had formed faster than the others suddenly began to crack open one by one, and from within, moths flew out one after another.

These moths looked especially strange.

Because… Ethan noticed that their entire bodies were almost transparent, like glass crafts that had been fired in a kiln. He could even see their veins and their bright red internal organs through their skin.

As for how red their organs were, if one had to describe it with something, they were like glass jars filled with magma.

But the strangest part was… after these glass-like creations crawled out of their cocoons one by one, they actually shook their wings, and then… flew up.

They were about the size of a child's palm. And the moment they began to emit tiny specks of light in the darkness... they were breathtakingly beautiful.

Only at this moment did Ethan finally understand why the Queen Bee had said that this kind of creature was extremely rare, and that even at birth they would be fought over by nobles.

That was because they were simply too beautiful.

So beautiful that even modern craftsmanship on Earth… Could not replicate even half of their charm.

"Master, in about a few more minutes, most of my offspring will have broken out of their cocoons," Poker Face said in a stiff tone, "As for the rest that cannot emerge, I'm afraid they don't even reach F-grade, so they can be directly abandoned."

"Don't," Ethan quickly stopped the Insect Queen, "Don't abandon any of them. At worst, just drive them out of the swarm. I'll deal with them later."

Ethan didn't say the next part, he would sell them later.

Now the entire world had fallen into darkness.

Whether it was himself, his residents, regional players, or other lords, everyone was relying on these Sun Worms.

As for how much one could sell for, Ethan hadn't even figured that out yet.

How could he let the Insect Queen waste them for nothing?

"Understood. As the master wishes."

[In the Snowfield]

Nostradamus stared gloomily at the thick clouds above, where flashes of lightning occasionally streaked through.

But the lightning was clearly a purplish-red color, even casting an eerie and ominous glow over the entire dark cloud layer. This was the dissatisfaction of the world's will.

"The weather's about to change."

Nostradamus let out a deep sigh and said, "No wonder there have been so many unfamiliar faces in this world lately, even a bunch of cunning fellows."

"And I was released from that damn place. Looks like some other things were released too."

"Seems like…"

"The world is really about to fall into chaos."

Nostradamus sat there alone, muttering to himself.

At this moment, Ethan had already come out of the Pet Paradise. From a distance, he saw Nostradamus putting on a melancholic act, tilting his head up at the sky, and couldn't help but mock him, "Master, are you staring at the sky at a forty-five-degree angle because you're afraid your tears might fall?"

"Get lost!"

Nostradamus snapped irritably.

Then he quickly got up from the ground, shaking off the snow on his body, "Well? You told me to wait for you, and I've been waiting here for ages."

As he said this… Nostradamus glanced Ethan up and down, then added, "Empty-handed like that, looks like you didn't come up with anything?"

"Who says?", Ethan shrugged, pulled open his self-heating coat, and released the Sun Worms in his arms, "I have my own clever plan."

"Don't tell me your brilliant plan is just these bugs?"

"That's right!"

Ethan nodded with a smile.

Now Nostradamus looked even more disdainful, "Even I couldn't solve it, and you bring out a few tiny… tiny—HOLY SHIT!"

The moment the Sun Worms activated their power, Nostradamus was completely stunned. Those few insignificant little bugs suddenly became like suns in the night, emitting dazzling and scorching light.

And that light was so intense it felt like it could burn one's eyes. Even though Nostradamus was made of stone, he could still feel how blinding it was.
