Chapter 379 - Chapter 379: Offering the ‘Flower’ of Luck

The moment the seed of the Flower of Misfortune touched the ground, something strange happened.

He saw, as soon as the seed touched the soil, it seemed to come alive.

In an instant, it quickly drilled into the dirt. That's right, drilled into it.

Right after that, Loran(Honest Man) saw the seed rapidly grow a thin little stalk.

If he hadn't watched it grow with his own eyes, he would've thought it was just an ordinary weed in the villa garden.

After all, there were too many weeds like this in the garden.

So many that if Loran looked away from the Flower of Misfortune for even a moment, he probably wouldn't be able to tell which one was the weed and which one was the Flower of Misfortune.

"0927, are you messing with me?", the guard snapped, "What's even over there?"

"There's nothing?"

Hearing this, Loran quickly shifted his gaze toward the direction he had pointed earlier. He scratched his head and played dumb, "Maybe I saw wrong. I really did see something black flash by just now."

"Really?"

The guard looked at Loran suspiciously, but he couldn't find any reason for him to lie.

After all, he hadn't forced his way in or done anything strange.

"What do I gain from lying to you?"

"..."

A moment later, Loran was summoned by Shakun as expected.

———

At this moment, Shakun was sitting on the main sofa seat, supporting his head as he looked at the adjutant and said, "Adjutant, do you think 0927 is lying? Since everyone else died, how did he escape from Ethan?"

"It is pretty strange."

The adjutant frowned and thought for a moment.

But he still couldn't figure it out. After all, what would be the point of Ethan letting someone return?

There weren't even telephones in this world. Sending someone back as a spy wasn't realistic either.

He couldn't figure it out.

"I'll meet him first and hear what he says," Shakun continued, "Pay attention later. If you notice anything strange about him, seize him immediately... cough! cough! cough!"

As Shakun spoke, he suddenly started coughing violently, "What kind of day is this... How can I even choke on my own saliva while talking... cough! cough! cough!"

"General Shakun!"

Seeing this, the adjutant quickly ran to the side and poured a cup of water for General Shakun.

But before he could bring the water over, he suddenly tripped over a tiny raised tile on the floor, and both he and the water stumbled toward Shakun.

Splash!

General Shakun was drenched on the spot, turning into a soaked mess.

The adjutant was so frightened that he quickly crawled up and knelt on the ground, "Sorry! Sorry! General Shakun, I didn't do it on purpose, I'm sorry!"

"Forget it! Forget it, cough! cough! cough! I'm fine!"

Naturally, Shakun wouldn't really do anything to his adjutant over such a small matter. He just rubbed his head and said, "Things really haven't been going smoothly today."

Knock! Knock!

At this moment, Loran was brought in.

When he saw General Shakun soaked from head to toe, he was stunned.

Because he had personally planted that Flower of Misfortune in the garden, he naturally knew what it did. He just hadn't expected the flower to work so well, and so quickly.

"Come in!"

Shakun waved his hand.

Seeing someone enter, the adjutant quickly got up from the floor and ran to the side to find a towel that looked relatively clean. He respectfully handed it to General Shakun with both hands and said, "General, please take care of your health."

"Mm!"

Shakun took the towel and casually wiped his face with it.

But as he wiped, something felt wrong. He quickly pulled the towel down and smelled it, and his expression instantly changed, "Adjutant, where exactly did you get this towel from?"

"From the cabinet by the door..."

"Damn it!"

Shakun roared angrily, "This is the damn towel I use to wipe shoe polish and dirty water off myself, and you used it for my face?"

As he spoke, Shakun threw the towel directly at the adjutant's head.

The adjutant was so scared that he immediately knelt again.

But General Shakun was furious right now, so he ignored the adjutant and looked toward Loran at the door, "You, come here!"

"Yes, General!"

Loran quickly walked up to General Shakun, then gave him a salute.

Everything looked normal.

But Shakun still looked him up and down before saying, "Tell me! How exactly did you escape from Ethan? Also, the guard said you brought back a Sun Worm. You're not some double agent sent back by Ethan, are you?"

"Reporting to General, I didn't escape from Ethan at all."

Loran had already prepared his story on the way here. With both hands against his thighs, chest out, and a calm expression, he reported, "Because we never even reached Ethan's territory before suffering heavy casualties."

"You never made it?", General Shakun hadn't expected that answer, so he pressed further, "Were you attacked on the way? And how did you survive? Explain everything carefully."

"Yes, General!"

Loran then told Shakun the story he had made up during the journey.

The rough story was that while their group was heading toward Ethan's territory, they encountered a group of giant insects on the way there, the enlarged version of fart bugs. They failed to avoid them and suffered terrible casualties.

As for him, he was luckier. Along the way, he had picked a white flower.

Unexpectedly, that white flower brought him good luck and helped him survive danger after danger. That was how he escaped alive from the giant insects.

Originally, he had wanted to go back and save his comrades, but the situation was too dangerous. On top of that, he remembered his mission and knew someone had to return and report everything to the General.

So he could only painfully abandon his comrades and flee all the way back.

Who would've thought... Halfway through his escape, the Eternal Night arrived.

Just when he thought he was definitely going to die, the Flower of Luck guided him to a small cabin. It belonged to a player from Ethan's region.

He promised the player many benefits in exchange for staying one night in the wooden cabin.

Naturally, the player agreed.

Then he killed the player, took the Sun Worm that the player had obtained from Ethan, and rushed back to report everything to General Shakun.

"A Flower of Luck?", Shakun had indeed been unlucky all day, so when he heard about this thing, he immediately became very interested, "Quick, take it out and let me see."

"Yes, General!"

Hearing this, Loran immediately and carefully took the Omen Petals out from his pocket. He then opened the sealing cloth around it and respectfully held it out before General Shakun with both hands.

[T/N: I got confused in the previous chapter so, Honest Man is Don who is resident of Ethan now, the one sent to Shakun is Loran or sly guy. The pocket face is the host of sun worm queen.]
