Chapter 475 - Chapter 475: A Trap Within a Trap

Charlie felt it was impossible.

Most likely, Harriet had already decided to kill Ethan after clearing the second temple and take the item back. That was why she had been so generous.

And, more importantly, although Harriet appeared to be a warrior, she was actually a well-known poison master behind the scenes.

It was her second awakened class: Poison Maker.

Many of Harriet's opponents hadn't died by her sword, but by her poison.

So she had deliberately given away the Golden Silk Soft Armor to mislead Ethan into thinking she was a true warrior, and that the things she gave away were all equipment for physical defense.

And after getting this kind of defensive item, Ethan would naturally think his defenses had improved again. That would make him lower his guard, making it easier for Harriet to make her move.

Harriet had already gone this far but the man was still standing before them.

Charlie felt even more afraid of the man before him.

What kind of man could survive someone like Harriet, a poison master... and even wipe out their entire team?

Gulp!

Charlie quietly swallowed.

Luckily, the man had changed his attitude a little because of the Golden Silk Soft Armor.

Still, he was extremely cautious.

As expected, he didn't believe Harriet. He even demanded that they sign a Lord Contract with her to stop them from attacking from behind.

It was a very smart decision.

Unfortunately, the man didn't know that Harriet possessed the Mask of Deception.

The amazing thing about that mask was that, aside from Charlie knowing through his prediction that Harriet had it, not even the Lord knew she possessed it.

Because, the moment Harriet got the Mask of Deception from opening a chest, she immediately used its power to make everyone believe she had never obtained it.

Even Lord had been kept in the dark.

But, even after doing all that, would they still lose?

Next, since Charlie had already seen the prediction, he knew where the entrance to the second temple was.

But to make Harriet believe that his mental strength had weakened from overusing his predictions, making it impossible to make too many predictions in a short time, he pretended not to know where the entrance was.

Sure enough, Harriet asked him to make another prediction.

Charlie immediately put on an act.

Fortunately, no one except another prophet could see what was happening inside the crystal ball.

So no one knew whether he was actually making a prediction or not.

Soon, Charlie gave them the predicted information for entering the second temple.

This time, no one doubted his ability anymore.

Because what he gave them was real, even though it was only part of it.

That alone was enough for Harriet to value him as a prophet.

Everyone entered. It was a long corridor.

Charlie had already known that.

But he couldn't act as though he did.

He had to put on a shocked expression in front of Kaleb, Harriet, and the others, so they would believe his predictions were very limited and could only reveal tiny pieces of the future.

That way, even if Kaleb was killed later, no one would suspect that Charlie had known it all along.

The second temple was actually a maze temple.

It could also be called a temple for finding the maze key.

The way to clear it lay with the key.

Kill the person holding the key, and the puzzle would be solved.

The trial of this stage was... partners and betrayal.

But Charlie couldn't say that.

He had to stall until Ethan got the key.

Only then would Kaleb die, and only then could Charlie leave the second temple alive.

Sure enough... Harriet was once again the first to discover that it was a maze.

She asked Charlie to predict how to clear it again, giving him a headache.

Because the key was at the one hundredth step.

And only the person who killed the stone snake statue would have the chance to leave the second temple.

Charlie couldn't simply tell them the answer.

With someone as careful as Ethan, he would definitely refuse to go down if he knew.

He had to find an obvious clue.

He needed to give Ethan a reason he couldn't refuse.

Charlie wasn't making any prediction at all.

He was only thinking about how to trick people and how to set up his teammates.

Soon... he came up with a good idea.

He would pretend a black shadow had entered his crystal ball.

And only Ethan had to be able to see it.

Then Charlie would make up an excuse that Harriet was in danger and wouldn't be able to clear the stage.

Based on that man's greed, he would definitely go save her.

Then he would naturally obtain the item needed to solve the stage.

After that... Charlie would step forward and point out that killing the person who had obtained the item would clear the stage.

With Kaleb's impulsive and foolish mind, he would definitely threaten Ethan.

Then everything would proceed smoothly once again.

'Perfect!'

"Skill, Smoke and Mirrors, activate!"

This was the prophet's level-two skill.

It was a small trick used to create an atmosphere.

Charlie usually used it to make things feel mysterious.

It wasn't a particularly powerful skill, but it was excellent at creating the right mood.

It made him look especially impressive.

After all, a prophet wasn't supposed to fight monsters with his life on the line.

He only needed to put on a show.

[T/N: I think he's dead. I wouldn't let a man like him stay near me.]
