I was so busy scrolling the Internet that I didn't take note that Kasteil had gotten up. The comments were endless, each one pulling me deeper into the rabbit hole of opinions and gossip. Some were supportive, others were cruel, and a few were just confusing. I had lost track of time, my thumb moving automatically as I scrolled through post after post. He took a bath and was getting ready to go to work. I only noticed when he was ready to leave. Of course I was sad and I didn't want him to leave. We had just gotten back together and now he was leaving. My heart ached at the thought of him walking out the door, of the silence that would follow.
"I'll be back soon," Kasteil said, placing a kiss on my head. His lips were warm against my hair, a brief comfort that I wanted to hold onto.
"You mean you'll be back at the usual time?" I said, sulking. My voice came out smaller than I intended, almost childish. I hated how needy I sounded, but I couldn't help it.
