Chapter 154 - Chapter 154

Central streets of Shenyang.

Rewinding to a short time ago, an area shrouded in thick dust and fog, heavily guarded by military and police, had been swept up in a battle. The oppressive atmosphere, the trembling of buildings, and the teeth-grinding vibrations had ceased.

At least, no sound had been heard for quite some time. If the battle was over, why did the thick dust still condense like water droplets in the air, slowly swirling as if it were tangible?

It made it impossible to discern what had happened inside. But perhaps there was no need to worry. Keen observers had noticed that the dust-covered area did not exceed half a football field, and was mainly concentrated in a park in the center of the street and the surrounding streets.

Contrary to initial expectations, there hadn't been massive casualties or property damage. This, of course, didn't mean the damage from this suspected battle between superhumans was minor. The edges of the hard road surface, ripped and broken, with cracks several meters deep, making it difficult for people and vehicles to pass, demonstrated the immense power of the battle.

However, there was a sense that they had avoided crowded areas, and it didn't seem like the terrifying supernatural attack they had initially imagined.

"Captain Lingxiu, are we just going to stand by and watch?" A fully armed police officer, gun in hand, turned to Detective Captain Lingxiu, questioning her with confusion.

Lingxiu still had that upright figure, her curvaceous body exuding a strange allure beneath her police uniform.

And on her face, despite having recently experienced that ordeal with her sister, her beautiful face showed little change except for a slight hint of weariness. She calmly replied:

"The orders from above are to surround the area and not rush in rashly."

"But..." the officer said anxiously, clearly demonstrating his sense of responsibility. Before he could even speak, Lingxiu abruptly looked him straight in the eye and interrupted him, "That's not something we should be getting involved in."

The officer felt a surge of anger. He didn't believe Captain Lingxiu was the type to be cowardly and inactive. The entire city's attention was focused here; how could they just stand by and do nothing?

But the next moment, the officer shuddered. He saw the look in Captain Lingxiu's eyes. Her usually stern and beautiful face held a hint of sadness and weariness. Her bright red lips were slightly dry, and her dark pupils were bloodshot, yet a tiny flame seemed to burn within them.

The officer was stunned by this unusual beauty, speechless for a moment. He then saw Lingxiu turn to look at the vast crowd of reporters a hundred meters away, her slightly hoarse voice deep and resonant:

"Don't throw your lives away in vain. We're here to give the entire city of Shen an explanation. The higher-ups have already sent someone to handle this."

Then, Lingxiu paused slightly, arching her swan-like neck to look at the center, and said, "Besides, if it's that person, they would never harm innocent people."

The officer gripped his iron gun, unsure what to say. Instinctively, he chose to believe the beautiful and impartial female captain. Lingxiu patted his shoulder, saying, "But if the fighting affects ordinary people, we must stop it, even if it costs us our lives!"

The officer felt his blood boil and shouted, "Yes, sir!"

...

Regardless of what happened outside, the scene inside, shrouded in dust and mist, was entirely different.

In the very center, there was a meadow with cherry blossom trees and lush green grass, dust swirling around it like drifting clouds, possessing a serene, otherworldly beauty.

A woman dressed in a magnificent kimono, her long, flowing black hair adorned with twig-like ornaments and tassels cascading to her shoulders, her rounded, milky-white shoulders and two partially exposed mounds of snow-white flesh, her skirt almost dragging on the ground, revealing a pair of delicate, frosty feet in high-heeled wooden clogs.

On the other side, the gigantic dog that had been like a monster had now transformed back into human form, with long, disheveled hair and a thick beard, initially resembling a savage, except for a pair of eyes that seemed to burn, unchanging and strangely bright.

I stared wide-eyed at all of this, unable to comprehend what had happened.

Looking at my tattered clothes and the various signs of battle, it all felt like a dream.

One moment we were locked in fierce combat, and suddenly we found ourselves in this strange arena. The woman in the kimono before me, though not as intensely arousing as Xue Tang, possessed a strange familiarity, as if she were someone I'd known for a long time.

"It really is him," the woman in the kimono said suddenly after staring at me for a long time.

The hairy man beside me, who exuded a sense of wariness, swept his gaze over, a gaze that felt like needles pricking me, yet I seemed to sense a hint of a smile.

"I already know. No one in the world, except him, possesses this power of feeling."

"However, his appearance has changed again, more like before."

Listening to their conversation, although I didn't lower my guard, I also felt a strange, itchy curiosity, and vaguely realized that they were talking about me.

Finally, I couldn't help but ask, "Excuse me, who am I? Do you know anything about me?"

The two turned around simultaneously. The bear-like man hesitated, while the woman in the kimono bit her delicate red lips and walked towards me.

Although I was nervous, I didn't intend to attack her. I almost instinctively sensed that she meant me no harm.

When she reached me, she extended a snow-white, soft hand and gently stroked my face, smiling as she said, "You...you are the God of War."

"God of War?" I murmured, puzzled.

This title was anything but ordinary. My memories were filled with missions and killings in various places; I instinctively considered myself an assassin.

I never expected to be called "God of War."

Just as I was about to ask more questions, the person before me suddenly became complicated. Her long eyelashes trembled slightly, her eyes darting around, carrying a hint of lingering reluctance, yet she resolutely gritted her teeth and said, "You'd better not ask any more questions. Hurry up and leave, or you'll be in trouble later."

What trouble? Mine or Xue Tang's?

My heart raced slightly. Naturally, I was very worried about Xue Tang. Entrusting her to someone like Qin Yan was a last resort. The two before me didn't seem hostile, but the flood of questions surging within me made me eager to find out.

"Who are you, and what's the trouble?"

She glanced at the burly man beside her, shook her head, and said, "Go quickly. You'll know when you remember."

"But remember, if I don't die this time, you must go to Yoshiwara Town on Shikishima Island to find me. I want you to return my child."

"Only this, I want to surpass that fox."

I was somewhat confused, but a strange heaviness suddenly settled in my heart. Driven by some emotion, I nodded heavily.

The beautiful woman from Shikishima Island in a kimono smiled sweetly and suddenly embraced me. Instantly, her fragrance filled my arms, and her soft, jade-like breasts pressed together, making my heart race. She whispered in my ear, "Don't forget your promise."

Then, my vision blurred, and I found myself in another unfamiliar place.
