Chapter 195: Luo Han's Theory on Poseidon
On the other side, not long after Sister Spoon left, Luo Han felt a strange tremor—the spiritual wave of the Sun Tree Eve.
"What just happened?"
Luo Han grew alert. In the deep sea, caution was everything.
He expanded his spiritual sense and scanned the surroundings carefully, only to show a surprised expression moments later.
"I didn't expect to overhear a conversation between Ellis… and a tree!"
He was amazed. Since the God Valley battle, his soul had broken through, his spiritual range had expanded dramatically, and now, with his new ability to enter others' mental worlds, he could even eavesdrop on telepathic conversations.
"But it only seems to work on Ellis and… the Sun Tree Eve. Nothing from the other plants."
Was it because the others lacked sentience? Luo Han wondered. None of the other plants emitted mental waves.
He focused again, continuing to listen in on the conversation between Ellis and the Sun Tree Eve.
A while later—
"What?! The Divine Trees once covered the sea?!" Luo Han was stunned.
He had always assumed Ellis was the only one of her kind.
And—
"The Divine Trees were hunted to near extinction by Sea Kings? Because of a scheme by a mermaid princess from 800 years ago?!"
He was astonished, but not entirely surprised. After discovering he could naturally replicate Otohime's mind-invading wave, Luo Han had already suspected that her Observation Haki wasn't entirely innate.
It felt like something inherited—passed down. And when he peered into the minds of the Ryugu royal family back in the palace, he became certain: it wasn't natural.
It all made sense.
The reason why the Ryugu royal family had clung for 800 years to "waiting for the promised one" and refused to move to the surface wasn't just due to human discrimination.
Sure, prejudice played a role. But Luo Han didn't believe the Fish-Men couldn't secure even one island to live on. With their strength, it was possible.
So why, then, had they waited so long for someone to lead them?
Because Luo Han had seen it with his own eyes: each member of the royal family—except Akatsuki—had a seed of will in their minds. It planted one simple belief: wait for the promised one, who would arrive and lead them to the Great Continent via Noah's Ark. Until then, no one was to move above ground.
Everyone had it—except Akatsuki. Strangely enough, though Otohime didn't have a seed, she had inherited the ability to implant one. A "low-grade Kotoamatsukami," in essence.
"That must be why the king always had Otohime close to Akatsuki," Luo Han realized.
A non-royal girl with the ability to shape minds, stationed near the only royal without a will seed? Obvious.
The truth became clear: this kind of mind-altering power could be inherited through bloodlines, passed down through generations.
And what kind of ability could do that if not a combination of spiritual prowess and Devil Fruit powers?
"Only the Mind-Mind Fruit combined with special Observation Haki could accomplish this."
Which also explained how awakened mermaid princesses could control Sea Kings—commanding them as their king.
"If, 800 years ago, a Mind-Mind Fruit user implanted a universal seed into the Sea Kings' minds—to obey any mermaid who could talk to them…"
Then Poseidon was born.
The first weaponized mermaid princess—Poseidon—wasn't just a symbol. She was a result of psychic engineering.
At first, it had been just a theory. But after hearing Ellis and Eve's conversation—especially the part about Sea Kings attacking Divine Trees with visible mind control waves—Luo Han was nearly certain.
Ellis even said it outright: the first Poseidon was behind it all.
After all, why would intelligent Sea Kings obey a teenage princess? Because she could talk to them? Ridiculous.
What really shocked Luo Han, though, was that the Sun Tree Eve had also made a pact with that mermaid princess.
He had always assumed Eve was just a tree. And that Ellis was the only sentient one.
Now he had to wonder: could the Treasure Tree Adam be conscious, too?
It must be. This world was magical. Trees like Eve and Adam likely all had minds—they simply stayed hidden.
When Ellis's conversation ended, Luo Han sighed in sympathy for her.
"At least now she's free of that pact. She can live her own life."
…
Back at the red Poneglyph, Luo Han had been standing for some time, eyes closed, carefully sensing its energy.
"This integrated feel… it's incredible."
Unlike anything else he had felt before.
From a material standpoint, the Poneglyph was the hardest thing he'd ever seen.
But what allowed it to resist time, to stay untouched for 800 years, wasn't just hardness. It was its internal structure.
"What brilliant and imaginative craftsmen!"
He marveled at the Wano artisans, who had managed to infuse Seastone into the stone at just the right ratio.
That way, Devil Fruit users wouldn't feel weakened—but still couldn't use their powers on it.
"A perfect balance. No wonder it's called indestructible."
The result was a material that didn't just resist powers—it was impervious to time.
Just like carbon atoms arranged into diamonds, the structure turned ordinary matter into something eternal.
"That explains why only the Kozuki clan can inscribe these things."
Luo Han's spiritual sense dug deeper.
"My goal… is to reproduce this field."
Why? Because only by combining this force field with defensive energy could he replicate the Poneglyph's unbreakable nature.
If he could replicate it…
He wouldn't just be untouchable—he'd be unstoppable in the New World.
He already was—but a little more wouldn't hurt.
As time passed, his spiritual senses unraveled more of the Poneglyph's secrets.
…
"So this is how it works?!"
Luo Han was truly shocked.
Clenching his fist—CLANG!—his Armament Haki coated his hand.
He gently tapped the Poneglyph.
CLANG, CLANG… After ten light punches, he paused, smiling.
"So the secret to the field is… it's just like Haki?"
The Wano craftsmen had fused Seastone and Armament Haki's suppressive effect on Devil Fruits in an ingenious way.
And the resulting stone—when struck with Haki—felt just like clashing with Garp's legendary fists.
"The field isn't just strong—it's flawless. Not a single weakness."
Luo Han laughed excitedly.
He had always dreamed of mastering Rocks' special version of Armament Haki—but had failed so far.
But now, the Poneglyph offered a better solution. Its "diamond-like" field surpassed even Rocks' version in solidity.
"If I can adapt this field into my own Haki… I'll have no more weaknesses."
Then he would truly be a force like Rocks—invincible for an era.
Thinking this, he continued studying the structure.
His hands remained clenched, Haki flaring, as he tried to replicate the transformation.
"Too hard…"
After a while, he frowned.
"It's like arranging atoms into diamond form. You only get the perfect field at the end."
The hardest part?
First, breaking Haki into atomic units.
Second, recombining them into a unified field like the Poneglyph's.
That's what made it indestructible.
"Sigh… this won't be quick."
He glanced toward Ellis and the others.
"I'll go tell them we're staying here for a while."
With that, Luo Han flew off.
…
