Mission: Ascension — Abyss (Updated)
1 - Kill 200,000 creatures.
2 - Kill 20,000 creatures + 20 kings.
3 - Kill 200,000 creatures + 20 kings.
(The test creatures, in Abyss Mode — Hard — range between Baron, Count, Marquis, and Duke. The difficulty increases as the floor rises.)
Danilo looked at the beings that had just appeared and, at first, felt apprehensive. What was supposed to be merely an exhausting mission had turned into something deadly. Those who had just arrived emanated a clear sense of danger. If he was not careful, he could die there.
He then turned his gaze to the system notification. It was very likely that those entities had just been added. As for the reason, no one knew. Perhaps they were spectators, beings condemned from that world, or even declared enemies of the human race. However, upon closer observation, Danilo noticed that there were humans among them, which made that last hypothesis unlikely.
The system gave him the option to choose. If he chose correctly, the situation could be managed. The problem was simple: he did not know what the final reward for completing the mission would be. Even so, he could deduce that it would be something extraordinary, because this mission was, without exaggeration, practically impossible.
After this brief moment of reflection, as if responding to his curiosity, new information appeared in front of each option.
1 - Rainbow Treasure Chest
Lord Token (S–SSS)
2 - Rainbow Treasure Chest
Bloodline Card (Random)
Evolution to King level
3 - Rainbow Treasure Chest
Lord Token (S–SSS)
Bloodline Card (Random)
Evolution to King level
Seeing this new information, Danilo felt slightly moved. The rewards were truly tempting. He knew exactly what a Rainbow Treasure Chest represented. If it was what he thought, then that chest was nothing less than the Supreme Treasure Chest.
But what truly shocked him was the Lord Token.
That meant authorization to establish his own territory. Apparently, the Celestial Domain was far deeper and more complex than it appeared. Allowing someone to become a lord, with a piece of land officially recognized and authorized by the system, was something extremely valuable—and comfortable.
Evolving from Common to King level was also extremely appealing. It seemed that choosing a chaotic-level mission had indeed been the right decision. Now, all that remained was deciding which option to select.
Option 1, although exhausting, could be completed without major problems.
Options 2 and 3, however, involved facing kings, and fighting such beings was extremely complicated.
Danilo had his strength multiplied by ten, infinite regeneration, anti-magic, immunity to control, and much more. Even so, those beings were far stronger than him. Even with all the multipliers, he was still weaker than any of them.
What to do?
The rewards were tempting, but Danilo was not greedy enough to bite off more than he could chew.
He sighed and looked back.
The creatures were still frozen. At that moment, a hunch arose in his mind. After a few seconds of reflection, he lightly nodded and made his choice.
Option 3.
[Mission: Ascension — Abyss]
Difficulty: (Chaos)
Objective: Kill 200,000 creatures + 20 kings.
After making his selection, Danilo turned his gaze back to the intruders.
He carefully observed their expressions. In just a few seconds, everything changed.
When they arrived, their faces showed greed and disdain.
Then, everyone looked forward, with that familiar look of someone staring at a status panel.
The disdain and greed intensified.
They began to look at Danilo as if he were a walking treasure chest. Literally, he was seen as a living treasure.
But shortly after, their expressions changed again.
Shock.
Panic.
And a clear hint of horror.
Danilo wondered what had caused that last reaction.
Observing more closely, he deduced that those beings were creatures of that world, because many of them were recognized by the arena audience. The audience itself also seemed confused.
Then, it became clear.
They had directly interfered with the mission.
And they wanted to kill him.
So, the game was truly about to begin.
— The level dropped to one. What's going on? — asked a cute little monkey among the twenty.
That small, adorable-looking monkey, surrounded by the kings of the City of Chaos, was considered the strongest among them—the most terrifying being of all.
He possessed an SS-level talent — Devour, making him one of the most frightening creatures in existence, with nearly infinite potential.
The only positive aspect was that, when devouring, he only increased attributes. If he could also evolve magical abilities, the result would be a true disaster.
Among them all, he was the one closest to reaching the supreme level.
Although still classified as a king, many claimed he already possessed the strength of a saint.
No one knew for sure why he had not yet evolved to the imperial level. He already had sufficient strength. The most accepted reason was simple: he wanted to accumulate an overwhelming advantage in attributes before evolving.
Some said his goal was to leap directly from king level to divine level.
As for competing with an imperial being, he considered it completely unnecessary.
Both he and the others knew that if he challenged a saint-level being now, he would likely succeed in evolving without difficulty.
Moreover, he was also recognized as the founder of the City of Chaos.
Rumors said that he had existed since the very beginning of the arrival of the Celestial Domain. Back then, he was just a domestic monkey, already at the end of his life. His owners were a middle-aged couple without children, who adopted him and treated him like a real son.
With the arrival of the Celestial Domain and the beginning of the Beast Revolution, he did not feel drawn to the movement. He did not harbor the same hatred toward the human race that other animals developed. After all, he had been loved by his human parents.
His name began to become famous about a year after the arrival of the Celestial Domain.
That was when he appeared accompanied by a group of gorillas, entered the Beast Kingdom, fought tooth and nail, and established his dominion. Thus, the Monkey Kingdom was born, with him as king.
To achieve such a feat, there was a true bloodbath.
At that time, humans were hunted mercilessly. The World of Soba was immersed in absolute chaos.
Other rumors claimed that it was thanks to his benevolence toward humans that the cruel persecution against the race diminished drastically. Otherwise, the casualties—which were already terrible—would have been far worse.
The name of that small monkey was Caesar.
After Caesar spoke, all the others confirmed.
Everyone's levels had been reduced. Apparently, obtaining that treasure chest would not be as simple as they had initially imagined.
Caesar looked at the human in front of him.
Then…
After seeing his data, he fell into complete shock.
— Level 1… Common… How the hell is this possible?
A Level 1, Common human.
How the hell was that possible?
— What kind of monster did the human race create?
No.
This Nivaldo Gourgel must die.
From the looks of it, this was a special event.
Thousands against one.
It seemed that this person had invoked the wrath of the Celestial Domain. Otherwise, how could something so outrageous have happened?
And even worse: why would the Celestial Domain allow their entry, deliberately increasing the difficulty?
Although Caesar sympathized with humans, he was not foolish. He knew the race well.
They were worse than monsters—extremely cruel and sinister.
After all… hadn't his parents died?
They had died at the hands of humans just like these.
A powerful human had taken an interest in his talent and wanted to turn him into a pet.
Because his parents were excessively cautious, they rarely entered the Celestial Domain. As a result, their levels grew very slowly. They only entered in groups—never alone.
After discovering the anomaly in Caesar's talent, they became even more nervous. They feared he would be discovered by someone with even worse intentions.
Each race entered different locations—even though the tower was the same—humans, beasts, and insects entered separate spaces until the third floor.
Caesar only entered the Celestial Domain after confirming that his parents were asleep or when they themselves entered the domain.
No one knows how it happened, but someone eventually noticed Caesar's anomalies.
While the vast majority of beasts proclaimed independence from humans, a small minority remained. It was a secret, but their number was so small that it was believed all beasts had left. Only a very restricted group of people knew the truth.
Those beasts who stayed had something in common: extremely high-level talents.
It is believed that, due to their high talent, their willpower was less affected, which significantly increased their intelligence. In Caesar's case, this was even more evident, since he devoured attributes.
Day D happened a few months after the arrival of the Celestial Domain, at the beginning of the Beast Revolt.
On that day, once again, Caesar waited for his parents to enter the Celestial Domain and only then entered himself.
He was no longer a novice. He already had a group of loyal followers.
All of them had much higher levels, but due to his talent, Caesar was incomparably stronger.
As a result of the law of the jungle, challenges to his position were inevitable. He crushed every challenger with cruelty.
All of them possessed extremely high realms, yet he remained at level one.
His parents never allowed him to enter the Celestial Domain frequently, much less the Celestial Tower, despite his old age. They feared he would get hurt or that someone would recognize his talent and attract disaster.
After the hunt, Caesar calculated the time.
Four hours had passed.
His parents' hunts usually lasted about six hours.
So, he left.
That day, everything was different.
Instead of the usual silent house, he found many people gathered. His parents were pinned to the ground, their faces marked with fear and panic.
The men wore military uniforms and all wielded massive weapons.
As soon as Caesar appeared, all the weapons were aimed at him.
Then, he heard his mother's voice in a desperate scream:
— Caesar, run! Run!
Then he saw one of the men with a weapon raised stand up and strike his mother's head with great force.
She collapsed from the impact.
Seeing that—his mother assaulted and fallen—Caesar thought she had died.
At that instant, absolute panic mixed with intense fury took over him.
With the super strength and speed he possessed, he unleashed a massacre inside the house.
From outside, only the sounds of gunfire and agonized screams could be heard.
Gunshots and screams.
Minutes later, inside the house, silence reigned.
There was blood everywhere—destroyed furniture, walls scarred by impacts.
Except for Caesar, everyone was dead.
His father had died in the shootout.
For the second time that day, Caesar felt powerless.
He hated the fact that he was weak.
He believed that if he were stronger, he would have protected his parents.
He hated the human who, without reason, attacked his family.
He hated the world that had changed, becoming crueler, plunging everything into chaos and unnecessary death.
Then, he heard a sound.
A faint noise of something moving.
Caesar slowly turned toward the corner of the room.
And he saw it.
His mother was getting up.
