Granbell was also a Hero in the past. He has fought against Demon Lord Luminous several times, and later compromised with Luminous ruling humans because she actually didn't care about it enough. So coexistence was possible and he became one of the Seven Days Clergy.
But, he hasn't given up on removing monsters' strings in human society. Just because his strength wasn't enough doesn't mean that he will give up.
According to Mariabell, the Rosso family will control the human society through economy.
And his goal is to revive the strongest Hero that Luminous has sealed.
The sudden appearance of a Hero who can fight Milim is an opportunity the Rosso family can't loose.
Moreover, the treaty between Tempest and Blumund that was negotiated by the new Hero is concerning.

While heading towards Lubelius, I came across an Eastern merchant.
He introduced himself as Damrada, a lowly Eastern merchant. He looked pretty strong for a 'lowly merchant'.
I tried to use Genjutsu on him with Sharingan to gain information on him, but he surprisingly resisted it.
That meant he either had a Unique Skill related to mental resistance, or an Ultimate Skill.
So I used Rinnegan, and it worked perfectly.
I led him to an isolated area and made him talk.
"Tell me everything about you."
"I am one of the leaders of underground organisation Cerebrus. And I am also a single digit, 002, of the Eastern Empire, the vice-commander of Imperial Guardians.
I was also the former prime minister of Kingdom of Nasca and close friend of Emperor Rudra."
Turns out, he is a pretty big shot from the Empire.
"Why did you approach me?"
"I have been tasked by Rudra to find suitable candidates to kill him before Michael, his Ultimate Skill, takes him over."
Huh? Ultimate Skill taking over the owner!?
That's... really concerning...
Afterall, I have an Ultimate Skill which specialises in mental control.
So, I got more information out of him.
Apparently, an Ultimate Skill can develop an ego and become something called a Manas. A lifeform.
And the Emperor of Eastern Empire reincarnates into his own children, and gets weaker with each reincarnation.
...That's really disgusting. Even Orochimaru probably wouldn't use his own kids as a vessel for reincarnation.
Another information I got about Eastern Empire is that there is a True Dragon, Velgrynd who is Rudra's partner, and that Rudra is Guy's rival.
So it means that Eastern Empire IS a big deal. So it becomes more clear that Rimuru needs to awaken and free Veldora.
"Do you have any information on Western Holy Church?"
"I work as one of Hinata Sakaguchi's informants, and I have a connection with Granbell of the Seven Days Clergy, who wield great power in the Church."
