Chapter 15 - CAUGHT AND SEALED

"Shut up your mouth", one of the guards screamed at Thomas.

"Pls, I'm innocent. Believe me".

All the guards that heard what Thomas had to say looked at each other in confusion.

Thomas screamed it from the back of the car with intent putting all the guards in the car into doubt.

They still held their word firm that it was murder.

The man killed was Officer James who would never kill an innocent suspect on account of escape.

It was unbelievable to think that Officer James attempted to kill Thomas which led to his act of self defense.

Once they reached the cell, they called Renold in an attempt to confirm what had been said by Thomas.

Beep Beep Beep

Renold's phone rang from the back of his office.

He was sitting on the chair still sipping his cup of water when he recieved the call.

"Hello. Renold, Head of Department speaking", Renold answered formally knowing fully well it was his officers that called.

"Pls we request that you check the security cams for us to confirm what happened in aisle 8".

Renold grinned at the end of the line.

"Fine, I'll get right to it", Renold then said as he cut the line and dropped his phone on the desk.

The officer glanced at Thomas and noticed a slight string of blood staining his white clothing.

He summarised that the shot would have being from close contact, possible due to struggle.

Renold went to the officer in charge of security cameras.

Officer Daniel was experienced and very into TV's as well as security so he was put in charge of security cameras as well as some few other assistants.

"Check the cams. Aisle 8. Let's see how what happened there".

Officer Daniel turned a dual and set it to aisle 8. The scene was detrifying.

Thomas struggling to hold the gun and two direct shots straight to the chest as blood gushed out.

Renold failed to look. 'I can't believe this happened in my department', Renold mumbled to himself.

He picked up his phone and called back. Worry sped through the face of Renold as sooner or later, this encounter would be all over the news.

The worst of it was that the D.I (Department Inspector) was visiting and he would request to be shown every footage of what had happened in the past week.

Once he figured it out, Renold might be losing his job and the safety of the department will be compromised.

"We have checked the footage and confirmed that it was an accidental murder", Renold said with his hands trembling as though he was about to let his phone go.

"There is no proof that he did it out of self defence".

The officers, including the one holding Thomas shoved him into the cell building.

Quail Serene Cell was one of the most protected yet non secured cell in the neighbourhood.

The cell bars were so small that not even a baby could get through.

The food is delivered on a paper into the cell. The walls are made of steel and only about an hour that the convict is free to walk around the cell environment.

Although it seems protected, the guards and officers in the cell were so little.

The protection was brilliant but the security not certain.

The Quail Serene Cell was named after a generous and integrated man in the neighbourhood.

He died a few years back and in his time of life, he built orphanage homes, hired more police officers and was even able to bring about increase in employment.

He started construction of the cell but after two months he died.

The construction was then finished and renovated and named after Quail Serene.

At the time, the officers in the neighbourhood were little, so they were only able to afford minor amount of police officers to be offered in the cell.

They increased the protection but sacrificed it for security.

Thomas was shoved into the cell building where the officers showed them the cell approval card and they were allowed into the building.

Thomas, who had been silent all through the event finally made an act.

He elbowed the man behind him and knelt on the floor.

"Pls. It was an accident. I can't go to jail. Plss!".

The men pointed their guns at him and raised him up to his feet without a word.

They got use to the screams of Thomas and ignored it most of the time.

While they were talking to the receptionist, he gave them the cell number of the convict.

Thomas was carried to cell no. 452 were he was put into the cell and it was securely locked.

The cell only had 580 cell compartments.

It was quite a big building capable of holding about 580+ people in total.

Thomas sobbed as he was thrown into the metal walled cell room.

Rick had no idea what was going on with Thomas. Thomas on the other hand regretted ever breaking out of the waiting room.

The worry of going to jail was so worrying that his mind forced him to do something that he couldn't.

At the moment, his nightmares were coming through as the wisest man in the neighbourhood might be going to jail if the court ruled against him.

The Quail Serene Cell was more or less like a waiting area for the court case.

Once you are found guilty, the convict will then be taken to prison.

All the 450+ convicts that currently laid in the cell hadn't yet experienced trials.

Some cases have been closed in the cell due to the convict not willing to take a court case.

Some people were found innocent in court but complications about the end result kept them there.

Although Thomas hated being in the cell, he knew that jail would be a lot worse.

'Maybe I should not accept a court case and keep my worry in the court', Thomas thought to himself as he was thrown into the cell.

Thomas sobbed on one end of his mind but thought about ways of getting out on the other.

He looked around the cell as the officers slowly left his sight.

He looked around his cell room and noticed a bucket, a mattress and well metalled walls.

'There is no escape', Thomas thought to himself as he grinned and looked at the limited guards walking loitering around.

He began to think that he could con some of the guards and use them to escape.

Just like in his murder, worry made Thomas' mind to do something that his body could not.

He sat on the mattress for a few minutes and stood up once more.

Once again, he looked around and finally noticed a young woman standing next to a big man.

The woman was giving one of the cell mates in no. 153 food as she walked away.

Her brown eyes were hard not to miss even in such a far distance.

At a glance, Thomas was able to summarise that she was brought newly into the cell security job and looked like an easy target.

He turned around and grinned, "Perfect".
