Chapter 2: Demon's... Evil Demon's...
A creature with no facial features besides a maw filled with uneven viscous fangs, it's stature was around 3 meters tall and it's body didn't look normal at all, but like a sludgy fleshy substance coated in partially congealed blood.
" Excuse me, I apologize for disturbing your rest but is it ok if I stayed here for tonight." Mo Wang clasped his hands in greeting, his lips curling into a smile.
The woman paled at the horrific fang filled smile, her body trembling, teeth chattering in fright.
" YaoGuai!!!"
" A YaoGuai is attacking the village!!!"
Mo Wang was confused and alarmed, why was the woman calling him names all of a sudden.
He glanced down at his body, thanks to the oil lambs bright light, he was finally able to make out his own feature. The sight he saw puzzled him. He wasn't alarmed nor repulsed, or frightened, instead he couldn't help but feel as if for some reason he was supposed to look different.
While he was in thought, the woman's commotion had already alerted several villagers who rushed to the area with their make shift weapons in hand, like bamboo pools, sickles, knives and the like.
" W-What in heavens name is that?"
" Is that really a YaoGuai... It looks more like a Guai!" A grey haired elder struggled to hold onto his bamboo poll as his body trembled in fear.
" How're you sure it's not actually a Gui come to terrorize the village!' another screamed in fright.
The moment each person set their gazes on him, their faces would pale in fright, their feet frozen in the same place.
The middle-aged woman who saw their group, hurriedly retreated to their.
" Hey, where do you think you're running off to?" Mo Wang held her back by her wrist. " We haven't finished talking yet... Isn't it rude to leave all of a sudden in the middle of a conversation?" He complained.
He didn't understand what was going on or why the villagers seemed afraid of him but he did feel annoyed that she was trying to walk out on him.
" Ahhhh!!" Feeling the wet, squelching fleshy blood wrapped around her skin, the lady screamed in horror, her eyes rolling backwards before her body went limb.
" Y-You filthy demon! How dare you kill her!"
" We have to k-kill it!" Said a thin looking man with rather malnourished physique.
Some villagers hurled their weapons at Mo Wang, but they simply stabbed into his flesh before sinking in or sticking to its surface before sliding off.
Mo Wang frowned upon seeing this. Why were they attacking him he wondered, he gently placed the woman's body on the ground, before standing back up.
" Die you demon!" One of the villagers, seeing that non of their attacks were working, hurried and grabbed an oil lamb from one of the neighboring houses before flinging it at Mo Wang.
The oil lamb landed on his body. the spilled oil was ignited by the flames, instantly enveloping Mo Wang whole.
The villagers all cheered at the sight of the burning flames but their joy was short lived when they realized that Mo Wang didn't react in any way.
" What is this strange feeling...." Mo Wang muttered while staring at his two arms, contemplating this new sensation he was feeling, it took him awhile before realizing that it was supposed to be called.
"Pain?" Mo Wang watched as the flames danced against his form.
At this point, all the villagers were really frightened beyond compare, there melee attacks had no effect, and now the very monster before them seemed unable to feel pain itself.
What else was there to do then?
" Huh?" Mo Wang looked puzzled when he realized that some of the oil must've splashed on middle-aged woman from earlier, now her body was ablaze, just like his, yet strangely she hadn't screamed just like him.
Mo Wang wondered why but it might've been possible that she had already died from shock the instant he held her back by the wrist.
A strange yet delectable aroma rose from her burning corpse.
GURRGLE...
Once again, Mo Wangs stomach pleaded for him to eat, he stared at the burning flesh in silence, it's palatable scent causing him to crouch down Infront of it.
The Villagers watched in horror as he grabbed one of her limbs and easily tore it off, before crunching down on it, bones and all, devouring the entire limb in a few seconds.
" Is this wrong...' Mo Wang thought to himself. He glanced at the villagers and saw their horror filled expressions, some of them had their legs give in not too long ago, while a handful had already pissed themselves in fright, yet non dared to flee.
Perhaps it was because they feared it would be the final catalyst to spur him on or that they believed it was hopeless to run.
Either way, Mo Wangs thoughts couldn't help but spur in a different direction.
Whatever reason it maybe, it seemed that he wasn't human?
.....
' No... How can I not be human?' Mo Wang refused to believe such a thing, he didn't quite remember what a human was supposed to be but he knew that one's own actions determined their humanity.
' I didn't do anything wrong to begin with...'
' They were the ones who called me names and tried to...kill me.' He muttered, staring up at the beautiful night sky.
' Since they dared to commit such heinous sins... Dosen't that make them demons instead?'
' Yes, that's right, this isn't a human settlement at all.' Mo Wangs voice turned agitated. To think that he'd run to these creatures for help.
" Your not humans at all... You're just a bunch of evil demon's..." He said as he slowly got up, strangely, the fire on his skin began to die out as well before vanishing completely.
" Demons... Demons.. Demons are bad... Demons are evil..."
" Demons want me dead... I have to stop demons... Kill the demons..." A strange chill enveloped the villagers as Mo Wang began to walk towards them ever so slowly, in that moment, everywhere seemed to have gone silent, the only sounds one could hear where his wet squelching foot steps as he approached all of them.
It was at that point that the villagers pressure reached its peak, they all quickly fled in fear, non daring to stay hear any longer.
Frightened parents ran home to gather their children, reluctant people tried to grab as much as they could to start somewhere else, those who didn't have much to begin with, where the first to flee the village.
Under the cover of night, the entire village was thrown into chaos. As for Mo Wang, he didn't even continue to chase them. He stood over the burnt corpse, feeding off it till nothing remained.
Even though he seemed ok, that fire had done more damage to him than he anticipated, causing his body to be drained of energy.
After finishing the woman's corpse, he realized that it wasn't enough. He was still weak and needed to regain his strength. He glanced around and felt a pang of regret by the fact that the village was completely deserted by now.
To think those nasty " demons" were so efficient at running.
" But I'm still hungry... What am I supposed to do now?" Mo Wang slumped on his rear. He glanced at the spot where the woman's corpse once laid, feeling that this was mostly her fault, If she hadn't been so delicious, then he could've caught a few more demons to eat and quell this weakness of his.
" Huh?" Mo Wang blinked when he saw his messy body suddenly squirming about before morphing into something else completely.
If anyone was here, they would be frozen in terror because he now looked like an identical replica of the deceased middle aged woman.
[Congratulations on conquering the hidden System mission]
A holographic panel emerged in front of Mo Wang, stunning him.

" Can you help me get them back?"
