The music was still playing when Von arrived at the arena.
Somebody was testing the sound system, and the heavy bass from the main stage could be heard all the way down the backstage corridor.
Crew members were moving equipment around, making final preparations for a concert that was supposed to begin in less than two hours.
Von walked past them without saying much. His left arm was in a sling, and although the bullet hadn't damaged anything vital, the muscles still strained whenever he moved it.
The pain had already started easing since the hospital, though, and he could tell the wound was manageable. A few people stopped to look at him, but nobody approached.
David was waiting in the dressing room, already speaking to the promoter on the phone. He ended the call when Von entered.
"How are you feeling?"
"Like I got shot." Von dropped onto the couch and leaned his head back.
