It was a normal-ish afternoon. I was walking home, headphones in, trying to ignore the world and my own failing luck.
Birds chirped. Kids yelled. The wind blew my papers around like it was personally offended.I was managing. Barely.
I didn't know it yet, but something—or someone—was about to show up and ruin every single plan I had for a normal life.
And I had no idea how much worse it could get.
