Chapter 28 - Elemental Backlash: Can You Predict the Future?

Lincoln Financial Field, Aftermath.

The stadium was in utter disarray. The "Ghost" Quarterback Ian Brooke and the five members of the "Special Defense Squad" were stretchered off to the hospital.

The Cardinals' Head Coach, Rivers, suffered a heart attack upon seeing Ian hurled into midfield and was also rushed for emergency treatment.

The game was terminated midway through the second quarter due to "excessive injuries" and "field safety hazards," granting the 49ers an early $14:0$ victory.

Post-Game Press Conference.

Levi was immediately swarmed by reporters, flashbulbs blinding the night sky. Yet, no one dared to approach within three feet of him.

"Mr. Levi! Ian claimed he could instantly teleport; how did you manage to catch him?"

"Levi! Do you possess some form of precognition? Can you predict your opponent's landing points?"

"Who were those men in black? Why did they attack you with an electric net?"

Levi faced the barrage of questions with the calmness of a victor. He did not answer any of them, offering only a single, chilling statement:

"I am not predicting the future. I simply know that on the field, no one can escape the rules of my collision."

The sentence was broadcast across America, igniting fervor among fans while striking dread into the hearts of the "Observer" organization.

San Francisco, 49ers Headquarters.

In the locker room, the atmosphere shifted subtly once more. Fear was replaced by blind adoration.

"Li Ge, I saw it! When you grabbed that ghost, you looked incredible!"

"Holy crap! You caught the electric net barehanded? Are you Thor?"

Teammates crowded around Levi, excited. They had fully embraced Levi as the "God" who could sweep away any threat facing their team.

Levi calmly changed his clothes, knowing the rush of power was incomparable to any wealth or fame.

The medical room door swung open. Dr. Sophie Vance walked in, wearing a black turtleneck sweater that concealed the dagger wound on her neck. Her face was pale, but her eyes were filled with unyielding determination.

Sophie addressed the team: "Everyone out! I need to conduct a post-game examination for Levi!"

The players quickly and wisely evacuated. Sophie locked the door and produced her micro-monitoring equipment.

"Sit down," Sophie commanded, her voice soft but absolute.

Levi sat down. He looked at Sophie's bloodshot eyes and reached out, gently touching her turtleneck collar.

"Does your neck still hurt?"

Sophie violently slapped his hand away. Her movement was harsh, as if warding off something dangerous.

"It has nothing to do with you," Sophie said icily, maintaining distance. "My job is to monitor your body. Not to discuss personal feelings."

She pressed the sensor against Levi's chest.

"The Critical Threshold reached an unprecedented high after absorbing the EMP pulse. I now strongly suspect that your internal energy is saturated and can no longer absorb new kinetic energy."

Sophie looked at the dangerous red curve on the screen, trembling.

"Levi! If you continue like this, you won't need the Observers to kill you; the energy inside you will atomize yourself!" Sophie's voice broke with a plea.

"I don't want to see you die," she whispered, the phrase laced with profound personal emotion.

Levi looked at her, his expression complex. He knew Sophie was protecting him in her own way.

"Sophie, you're afraid," Levi said calmly. "You're afraid of being dragged into this extra-dimensional war. You're afraid your life will spiral out of control because of me."

Sophie suddenly lifted her head, tears welling in her eyes.

"Yes! I am afraid! My expertise is medicine and biology, not science fiction! I don't understand your 'Indestructible Body,' I don't understand your 'Absolute Dominance'!"

She violently snatched the sensor away and turned her back to Levi, her voice laced with pain.

"Levi, I don't want to monitor you anymore. I don't want to know when you're going to explode. Effective immediately, I resign as your exclusive team physician."

"We are finished."

Levi watched the tremor in her back. He knew this wasn't Sophie's true desire. This was her attempt to "cut him off," to protect herself and, in a twisted way, to protect him.

"This is because Observer-03 threatened you, isn't it?" Levi asked gravely.

Sophie's body stiffened, but she didn't turn around.

"You guessed wrong. Your 'Absolute Dominance' doesn't work on me," Sophie said, her voice cold and resolute.

"I just don't want to see you anymore. You are too dangerous."

Levi slowly stood up. He walked to Sophie's back, extended his hands, and gently placed them on her slender shoulders.

"Sophie, do you know something?"

"The more you reject me, the stronger my power becomes."

Sophie's body trembled violently! She remembered the System prompt: Rage is Levi's catalyst!

"Stop it!" Sophie struggled in panic. "Let go of me! You're using me!"

"Yes," Levi whispered into Sophie's ear, his voice soft enough for only her to hear.

"You are the source of my strength. You are my only weakness, and my only salvation."

Levi released her and stepped back. He looked at Sophie's eyes, filled with pain and conflict, and offered an arrogant smile.

"Sophie, I won't let you leave my battlefield. Don't worry."

"Next game, I'll make sure Observer-03 comes looking for you personally!"

With that, Levi grabbed his bag and walked out of the medical room without looking back.

Sophie slid weakly to the floor. She knew Levi was right. Her "rejection" would only fuel Levi's power, pushing it further toward the self-destructive Critical Threshold!

Sophie pulled out her phone. A cold notification flashed on the screen:

[WARNING: Target Levi Wang. Continued participation in games will result in Host Heart Stoppage. Countdown: 72 Hours!]

This was Observer-03's "final ultimatum." Sophie stared at the terrifying countdown, her face a mask of desperate struggle.

"Levi... to stop you, I have to make an even more cruel decision."
