"System, track the mission target."
[Mission target 'Yinsen' has been marked]
A golden dot representing Yinsen lit up on the minimap. According to its position, he had already run quite a distance.
"This four-eyes guy's got some moves."
Daniel raised an eyebrow, genuinely surprised.
That frail-looking NPC actually had this in him?
Could Yinsen be a hidden war god?
[Warning! Mission target's vitals are rapidly declining. Critical condition!]
[If the mission target dies, the mission will be considered a failure!]
"…Alright, forget what I said."
Before Tony could even react, the diamond pickaxe in Daniel's hand vanished and was replaced by a cold gleaming Beretta 93R.
"You—"
"Wait for my good news."
Without letting Tony finish, Daniel tossed the sentence behind him and sprinted toward the golden dot on the minimap.
He had just exited the cave and rounded the first bend when he ran straight into several gun-toting terrorists.
The terrorists froze for a second at the sudden appearance of a stranger. Then they panicked, raised their guns, and the dark muzzles all aimed at Daniel.
"Hands up!"
"Drop the weapon!"
"Crouch!"
"Don't move!"
The terrorists shouted in a mess of different languages, some so obscure they barely sounded real.
But Daniel understood all of it perfectly.
That was thanks to the option he'd checked during character creation—"Let's all speak Chinese." The system automatically translated everything into Chinese for him, and likewise translated his speech into whatever language the listener could understand.
"So… do you want me to move or not?" Daniel said helplessly.
The terrorists were caught off guard by the question. They exchanged bewildered glances and, unable to reach a consensus, settled on the easiest answer—
Kill the guy causing trouble!
RATATATATAT—!
They pulled their triggers with vicious grins as a stream of bullets poured toward Daniel like water from a tipped bucket.
Just as he was about to be riddled with holes, Daniel's expression remained calm.
"Reaper's Eye."
In an instant, the world seemed to drop into slow motion.
Time thickened and dragged, everything around him nearly freezing in place.
Even the bullet trajectories—normally invisible to the naked eye—became clear, crawling through the air like snails.
Within this nearly suspended world, only Daniel moved freely.
His gaze swept across the terrorists. Red crosshair markers bloomed on each of their foreheads.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
Four gunshots rang out almost simultaneously.
The terrorists didn't even have time to scream. Their foreheads burst open like flowers made of blood, and they collapsed with their guns still raised.
[Skill: Reaper's Eye]
[Effect: When activated, time slows. You can mark enemies and automatically fire at all marked targets. Grants bullet tracking, weak-point highlights, infinite ammo, short-term wallhack, and more.]
[Evaluation: I have a plan—a stupid plan!]
"Cheh. Trash mobs. Don't even drop EXP."
Daniel clicked his tongue in annoyance and continued toward the glowing dot.
The commotion had clearly alerted the rest of the terrorist group. Chaotic footsteps quickly closed in from all directions.
Bang!
A terrorist poked his head out from behind the corner—only to have it immediately blown apart like a smashed tofu block.
The ones behind him were terrified and instantly opened fire, spraying bullets wildly at Daniel.
Daniel ducked behind a rock wall, unhurried, pulled out a flashbang, estimated the angle, popped the pin, and lobbed it forward.
A blinding flash exploded within the narrow passage!
"Argh!"
The terrorists screamed and clutched their eyes as if they'd just glimpsed heaven.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang—!
A series of precise shots followed. The part of "terrorists" was soon reduced simply to "corpses."
Daniel pushed through the corridor, killing everything in his way, until he finally reached Yinsen.
The situation didn't look good.
Yinsen was slumped against sandbags, face pale, several bloody bullet holes in his chest continuously oozing blood.
Seeing Daniel approach, Yinsen forced out a shout despite his wounds: "Careful! It's an ambush!"
"Die!!"
Terrorists hidden in the dark immediately opened fire, unleashing a storm of bullets at Daniel.
RATATATATAT—!
Daniel rolled into cover, fast and clean. He glanced at the minimap—red dots blinked brightly, exposing every enemy position.
"Good thing this isn't an actual FPS, or I'd be permabanned."
Bang!
A terrorist hiding in a shadowed corner dropped instantly, the back of his skull blown open.
"No, Johnny, I'll avenge—"
Bang!
Before he finished, a presidential-grade hole appeared in his forehead.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang—!
With every gunshot, another terrorist hit the ground.
No matter how they moved or where they hid, Daniel always found them and put a bullet straight through their skulls.
They felt a ridiculous illusion creeping into their minds—
as if one man had surrounded them.
"He's a demon! A demon!"
The remaining terrorists broke, turned, and ran.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
They fell mid-stride.
Stepping out from behind cover, Daniel surveyed the carnage with zero emotion.
As a veteran gamer, his heart was colder than a fishmonger's hands in winter.
"Don't move! Or I'll kill him!"
A voice suddenly shouted from the side.
Daniel turned to see Yinsen held hostage by a bearded man. A handgun pressed against Yinsen's temple.
Perhaps fearing Daniel's aim, the bearded man positioned Yinsen squarely as a meat shield, using his bulk to hide behind a skinny hostage. The image was absurd in all the wrong ways.
"D-don't worry about me…" Yinsen rasped weakly.
Daniel said nothing.
If not for the mission, he might actually consider shooting Yinsen first—just to remove the hostage advantage.
Seeing Daniel hesitate, the bearded man grew more confident and barked, "If you don't want him to die, drop your weapon!"
"Alright."
Daniel surprisingly complied, tossing his 93R onto the ground.
Seeing this, the bearded man's face twisted into a cruel grin. Without hesitation, he swung the gun toward Daniel.
"Hahaha! You idiot! Go to hel—"
Bang!
The man's smile froze. He fell over stiffly.
A second 93R had appeared in Daniel's hand at some unknown moment.
Daniel shrugged at the corpse. "You said to drop the one in my hand. You didn't say I couldn't use the one in my inventory."
