CHAPTER 19 — THE PRESSURE BEGINS
With fame came pressure. The kind that doesn't speak but sits on your shoulders like a weight.
Billie was still a teenager, still figuring out who she was, yet the world expected her to know everything. People wanted answers from her — about life, about mental health, about music, about pain.
She didn't always know what to say.
Some days she woke up excited to record.
Other days she couldn't get out of bed.
She talked openly about her struggles, which made fans love her even more. They felt seen. They felt heard. But opening up also meant she had to relive moments she would rather forget.
And then came touring.
Traveling city to city, sleeping in hotel rooms that all looked the same, performing in front of thousands even on days she felt empty inside — it was exhausting. Her body was tired. Her mind felt stretched thin.
But every night, when she stepped on stage and the crowd screamed her name, something inside her lit up. She felt alive. She felt understood.
Still… when the lights went off, and she was alone backstage, the pressure returned.
Fame was beautiful.
Fame was heavy.
And Billie was learning that the two always came together.
