Chapter 49 - Chapter 49 Family Feeling

When Shichen returned home, it was already noon. What surprised him was that Nanjou Nanatsuki was also home.

Besides her job as a teacher, Nanjou Nanatsuki also worked as an Attack Mage, so she usually wasn't home on weekends.

Last week, she wasn't home for two days, leaving Shichen alone at home for two days.

"Nanatsuki-chan, I'm home." Shichen greeted her while changing his shoes in the entryway.

"Mm." Nanjou Nanatsuki's calm voice replied.

Shichen finished changing his shoes and walked towards her.

Sitting down opposite Nanjou Nanatsuki, Shichen picked up the teapot and found it was empty.

"You've been home all morning?"

"Is there a problem?" Nanjou Nanatsuki retorted expressionlessly.

"Don't tell me… you were waiting for me to come back?" Shichen blinked.

"Heh~" Nanjou Nanatsuki sneered, "You think too highly of yourself. Why would I wait for you?"

"Oh, Nanatsuki-chan, saying that makes me so sad."

"Then be sad." Nanjou Nanatsuki uncrossed her left leg and crossed her right, changing the subject, "How was it? Did you save her?"

"Aiya~ Nanatsuki-chan was indeed waiting for me."

"Hurry up and tell me!" Nanjou Nanatsuki glared at him.

"Mm, it was perfectly resolved. Now their family of three is happily enjoying themselves."

"Is that so." Nanjou Nanatsuki subtly pursed her lips.

"Nanatsuki-chan, do you want more black tea?"

"No, it's time for lunch."

"That's true… Then I'll make lunch today?"

"What else? You want me to make it? I don't know how." Nanjou Nanatsuki rolled her eyes.

"You can use spatial magic to get takeout, that's what you did before."

"No need, there are ingredients at home, you go make it."

"Alright."

"Wait a moment, go wash your feet first."

"They don't smell…"

"Go wash them now!"

"Fine, whatever you say…"

In the afternoon, Nanjou Nanatsuki went to work, leaving Shichen alone at home to look after the house, and she even told him not to go out.

Shichen didn't mind, but he was more curious as to why Nanjou Nanatsuki only went to work in the afternoon.

He naturally figured out the reason. Indeed, she was truly gentle and considerate, treating him as family.

Keep up the good work; falling in love over time is just around the corner.

After spending a whole Sunday at home, a new week began. However, Shichen didn't need to go to school; his classes were on Wednesday.

Nanjou Nanatsuki told him to continue staying at home and looking after the house. With Sasazaki Misaki at school, she wasn't at ease.

After a day of boredom at home, Shichen hadn't figured out anything about the True Ancestor Body; it seemed utterly useless.

It didn't require him to drink blood, nor did it make his eyes turn red or fangs appear; it was no different from not having it at all.

He had no idea how to awaken the True Ancestor Body, and the voice in his head offered no hints.

However, he felt it wasn't that she wouldn't tell him, but rather that she genuinely didn't know. Otherwise, given her urgency in making him collect the God Fragment, it was impossible that she wouldn't let him possess unrestricted power.

Perhaps, it might be related to magic power.

Without magic power, the True Ancestor Body truly had no effect whatsoever, only a stronger recovery ability.

And he, precisely, had no magic power at all.

He still needed to find a way to obtain magic power first, but he couldn't cultivate magic power himself.

However, he remembered asking the voice in his head to take him to a world where he could gain power. Since she had brought him to this world, there must be a way to obtain magic power.

It seemed he needed to slowly find the method himself.

When school was dismissed, Shichen didn't wait for Nanjou Nanatsuki to return; instead, he received a visit from Aiba Asagi.

When the doorbell rang, Shichen was still wondering why Nanjou Nanatsuki didn't just teleport back. But when he opened the door, he saw Aiba Asagi standing prettily at the entrance, still in her school uniform.

"Asagi? Why are you here?" Shichen asked in surprise.

"Teacher Shi." Aiba Asagi bowed.

"Please forgive my unannounced visit."

"What's there to forgive? But how did you know where I live?"

"Teacher Nanjou's house is quite famous." Aiba Asagi replied with a smile.

"I see. Come in first."

"May I?"

"Of course."

"Then please excuse my intrusion."

"It seems there are no guest slippers at home… You can wear mine, is that okay?"

"Of course!" Aiba Asagi nodded vigorously.

"Here you go."

Shichen took off his own slippers and gave them to her, while he put on Nanjou Nanatsuki's slippers.

They were all family, no need to be so particular.

Aiba Asagi changed her shoes and followed Shichen into the house, sitting cautiously on the sofa in the living room.

"Are you in a hurry? Shall I make you some black tea?"

"Thank you, Teacher."

"Why be so polite with your teacher? I was going to have some myself anyway."

Shichen went to the kitchen to make black tea. Aiba Asagi's gaze followed him into the kitchen before she withdrew it, then she cautiously looked around.

There wasn't much to look at in the living room; her gaze was mainly focused on the rooms inside. Which of those rooms belonged to the teacher?

A moment later, Shichen returned with the black tea. After pouring it, he sat down on Nanjou Nanatsuki's exclusive sofa.

"Asagi, is there something you need?"

"Yes, my mother hopes to see Teacher again to express her gratitude." Aiba Asagi replied.

"Is your mother alright now?"

"She's fine now and full of energy, but she still has to lie in bed due to prolonged lack of nutrition." Aiba Asagi replied with a faint smile.

"That's good. But there's no need for thanks; haven't you already thanked me?"

"Not a formal thank you yet."

"Then it's not too late to thank me once your mother has fully recovered."

"That seems to be true…" Aiba Asagi fell into a dilemma.

"There'll be plenty of time in the future, no need to rush now."

"There'll be plenty of time in the future… I understand." Aiba Asagi nodded with a smile.

"Mm."

The two then stopped talking and quietly drank their black tea.

"Teacher Shi, I'll be leaving now." After finishing her tea, Aiba Asagi said goodbye and left.

"Alright, be careful on your way… Do you want me to see you off?"

"No need, I came by car, and I still need to go see my mother."

"I see… Please say hello to Auntie for me."

"Okay."

Shichen saw Aiba Asagi to the door.

Aiba Asagi changed her shoes and waved to Shichen: "Teacher, I'm leaving?"

"Mm, goodbye."

"Good… Oh, by the way, can I visit Teacher again in the future?" Aiba Asagi suddenly asked.

"Visit me? That's fine, but I won't be tutoring you, you know~"

"No, my grades are very good." Aiba Asagi couldn't help but pout playfully.

"That amazing?"

"Of course I'm amazing." Aiba Asagi proudly puffed out her chest.

"That's truly remarkable." Shichen smiled and ruffled her head.

"Hehe~" Aiba Asagi leaned into his hand, giggling foolishly.

"What are you giggling about? Go home." Shichen lightly flicked her forehead.

"Oh." Aiba Asagi pouted, turned and walked towards the elevator, but she looked back every three steps, waving goodbye.

"Teacher Shi, I'm leaving."

"Come again when you have time."

"Okay!"

Shichen only turned back into the room after watching the elevator door close.

"Heh~ You're very happy."

Suddenly, Nanjou Nanatsuki's voice rang out in the room. Shichen followed the sound and realized she had already returned.

"Nanatsuki-chan, you're back." Shichen wasn't guilty at all. He closed the door and walked towards her with a smile.

"That little girl came?" Nanjou Nanatsuki glanced at the tea set and asked.

"Mm."

"Hmph." Nanjou Nanatsuki snorted coldly, "You didn't do anything to her, did you?"

"Please… I haven't done anything to you, how could I do anything to her?" Shichen replied helplessly.

"Heh~ Do you think you can do anything to me?" Nanjou Nanatsuki scoffed dismissively.

"Why not? Your magic is useless against me."

"Can't I just leave?"

"…That seems to be true."

"It looks like you don't have that idea, otherwise you wouldn't be so foolish."

"…Should I be happy?"

"I don't care if you're happy or not. Why are you wearing my slippers?" Nanjou Nanatsuki stared at the slippers on Shichen's feet and demanded.

"Oh, I just lent my slippers to Asagi, so I could only wear yours."

"Then why didn't you give her mine to wear?"

"I was afraid you wouldn't want to."

"Then aren't you afraid I wouldn't want you to wear mine?"

"We're all family, why be so formal?"

"…You, you're getting more and more presumptuous." Nanjou Nanatsuki sighed.

"Do you mind? If you mind, I'll change."

"Forget it, do whatever you want." Nanjou Nanatsuki shook her head.

"Hehe~ I knew Nanatsuki-chan, you're the best."

"Go make dinner now! I'm hungry." Nanjou Nanatsuki glared at him, unable to bear it.

"Huh? You can still get hungry?"

"I want to! Are you making it or not?"

"Yes, ma'am, I'm going now." Shichen saluted and quickly walked towards the kitchen.

Nanjou Nanatsuki sat on the sofa, looking in the direction of the kitchen, her expression a little dazed.
