Chapter 3 - PAIN FROM MY ORIGIN

*******

The doctor slowly examined his heartbeat with his stethoscope. After a few check ups, he withdraws from him and takes down a few notes on his notepad, and looks at it as if judging what he wrote.

The emperor was sitted right by his side, watching as the doctor did his work. He was accompanied by Eden, Lincoln, and Duke Milton, who stood outside the hospital, together with the guards.

"Hmm, very strange. I've done the best I can, but he's clearly barely holding on. "

The doctor soon said with a rather disappointed face. He was the best doctor in all of Nazarath, and no sickness or injury has ever slipped him at all. He was even worshipped for that. But having a mare fainting incident perplex him like this was rather...unsatisfying.

"Well? Is he going to be alright?"

The emperor replied, gently brushing Yores' black hair of his face. The doctor sees this and was a bit confused.

"Well, butter my butter cups. Should I be concerned that I've seen his highness so concerned about someone else's wellbeing?"

He says in a somewhat sarcastic tone.

"I'm not here for your sarcastic compliments, Soris. If he does, I'll kill you. "

The emperor replied, still maintaining his chill tone, but his annoyance could still be given off a bit.

"Well, then go ahead and do it. I dare you not to hesitate." The doctor replies with a daring tone, which confused everyone.

"Soris!?"

The emperor rose in anger, slightly raising his tone, but tried as much not to lose control.

"I dare you, Sultan. Kill me if you have to, because of a...."

"Don't you dare!"

"I will! If that is enough to get you aware of the gravity of the situation-"

"There is NO situation. And I need not to explain myself to anyone. "

'Because being an emperor is already a burden enough ', he wanted to add, but he swallowed the words back, though the pain could be clearly seen in his eyes, he just sharply turns around, but paused.

"I'll leave him in your care in the mean time. Take care of him. I'll pay you double. "

"I don't need your bloody money."

"Take care of him, then. "

The emperor exits the room. Outside, he meets with Duke Milton, but silently walked past him.

"What you did there was completely unnecessary. "

The emperor stops in his tracks, but doesn't turn back. He then calmly replies,

"...".

Then walked off. He made himself clear in there. If the Duke could hear what happened in the room, then he should've heard where he said, he didn't owe anyone any explanation. He walks off with the guards, and Duke Milton, doesn't stop him.

He calmly accepts the cold shoulder, still clinging to the feeling that he had his reasons, then further goes in to check up on Yores.

The atmosphere was a bit solemn; no one spoke a word, and even the doctor didn't care, and mostly focused on his work. Lincoln, on this other hand, didn't show any emotion the whole time, but his eyes were glued to Yores all through.

Eden was in bad shape, but she still came to check on him, though one could clearly see her trembling from the aching in her body.

"He's going to be alright. "

The Duke suddenly. But deep down, he knew this was only the beginning of the whole story.
