At the start of his Journey, Ren accepted the invitation of the future Pirate King Luffy and joined the Straw Hat Pirates.

Yet as the journey unfolded, Ren’s habit of striking down weakened enemies and finishing battles on his own sparked constant disputes with the crew. The tension grew unbearable, and in a fit of anger, he abandoned the Straw Hats.

Born as a half-blood of the Lunarian tribe, Ren awakened a fearsome gift—the Mythical Zoan Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Galmorath, which granted him the form of a Buffed up Equal Dragon Weapon.

With this newfound power, he turned he left the Straw Hats and pledged allegiance to the Beast Pirates. His rise was so swift that Kaido accepted him as a son-in-law, and Yamato became his betrothed.

When Luffy sought his help, Ren’s answer was cold and final.:

“Sorry, I’m done playing to be pirates with you.” 

“From now on, call me the Fourth Calamity of the Beast Pirates—Draconic Calamity Ren!”
