Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Moving House! But on Junius Seven

C.E. 68

PLANT-registered cargo fleets importing food from South America were sunk by the Council nations, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of Coordinators. This became known as the "Mandelbrot Incident"!

Taking the "Mandelbrot Incident" as an opportunity, the political organization "ZAFT" was reorganized under Patrick's leadership, merging with police and security organizations within PLANT to form the military organization "ZAFT," equipped with MS.

Tensions between the Earth Alliance and PLANT intensified!

January C.E. 69

A family of three moving from Copernicus City arrived in Junius City's Seventh District of PLANT.

"Felix, from now on our family will be settling here. How do you feel about that?"

"I don't feel good about it!"

The brown-haired boy named Felix replied with a calm expression and steady voice, though it carried a hint of distress. The middle-aged man gave an awkward smile upon hearing this, turning to his son and patiently asking,

"What's wrong with this place?"

When his father asked this, Felix looked at him but remained silent.

Inwardly, he thought,

'If I told you Junius Seven would be blown up in a few years, you probably wouldn't believe me.'

The woman beside them, observing her son's silence, pondered for a moment before walking over to her husband and whispering,

"Felix might just be having trouble adjusting since we just moved. He'll probably get better after some time."

Hearing his mother and father's conversation, Felix knew it was pointless to say more at this moment. He glanced toward his room, muttered that he was going to his room, and headed inside.

Seeing their son like this, the two tacitly decided not to disturb him and began unpacking and organizing their new home in the living room.

In the Room

Entering his room, Felix looked at the furnishings and the still-unpacked cardboard boxes. He stepped over the boxes and lay directly on the bed.

Staring wide-eyed at the ceiling.

Unintentionally, memories of his past life surfaced in his mind.

In his memories,

Felix recalled the moment just before his death.

It was a calm and peaceful night. He had been about to take a shower and go to bed when his feet slipped, and the back of his head struck the bathroom wall squarely.

After a sharp, piercing pain, he knew nothing more. The next thing he knew, he was a tiny baby, surrounded by people in white coats.

Among that group, he could distinctly sense the coldness and disappointment in the eyes of a blond man, and he could also see the tenderness in the gaze of a brown-haired, purple-eyed woman.

Those two felt familiar, yet he couldn't quite recall who they were.

But after that, he never saw those two again.

Some time later, he ended up in the home of his current parents and lived with them in Copernicus City for fifteen years, until they moved here a few days ago.

'Sigh!'

Heaving a deep internal sigh, Felix wore a somewhat helpless and troubled expression as he thought to himself.

"'Why did we have to move to Junius Seven of all places? This is practically asking for trouble!'

With this thought, Felix abruptly sat up in bed, a resolute gleam flashing in his eyes as he murmured to himself.

'Relocating again isn't feasible in the short term. Applying for a residence transfer requires approval processes that might not even come through. I don't know how to convince my parents either. At this point, self-preservation seems the only option.'

When considering self-preservation, Felix's thoughts turned to ZAFT. Joining ZAFT appeared to be the most effective and optimal solution now.

'I'll bring it up during dinner tonight.'

After checking the time and surveying his room, Felix decided to start packing first, planning to discuss his intention to join ZAFT with his parents at the evening meal.

Evening

Dining Table

Seated around the dining table with his parents, Felix held his bowl and chopsticks while gathering his thoughts before speaking.

'Dad, Mom, I want to join ZAFT.'

His calm declaration hung in the dining room air. Both parents looked up from their meals, their eating motions freezing momentarily.

After several seconds of silence, his mother Wendy was the first to break it.

'Felix, did I hear you correctly?'

'You did!'

Felix met his mother's gaze with unwavering certainty.

Wendy's expression shifted instantly upon hearing his firm response. She set down her bowl and chopsticks, about to voice her objection when her husband Chris intervened.

'Your father supports your decision.'

'Darling, what are you saying!'

Wendy's eyes widened in disbelief.

Chris turned to his wife, gently patting her hand as he explained in soothing tones, 'Our son has grown up. We should respect his choices. He must have his reasons for wanting this. Our role is to support him, not suppress his aspirations.'

'But...'

Though somewhat placated by her husband's words, Wendy's anxiety about her son joining ZAFT remained undiminished. She barely uttered the word 'but' before Chris continued.

'Wendy, I know you're worried about his safety, but he needs to spread his wings eventually. If we constantly restrain him in the name of safety, we'll clip the wings that should carry him to the skies. Eagles need their wings - we must let him soar, for only then can he truly mature.'

'Alright!'

Wendy closed her mouth, swallowing further protests. Her worried gaze remained fixed on her son as she spoke with maternal tenderness, 'Felix, you must be careful, understand?'

'I will, Mom.'

Felix nodded emphatically, making his promise. Turning to his father, his eyes shone with gratitude and respect as he said, 'Thank you, Dad!'

'No need for thanks. I'm just doing what I should.'

Chris responded with a gentle smile.

...

The Next Day

Felix rose early, bid farewell to his parents, and left home for ZAFT's medical examination center located in Junius Seven's Seventh District."

As for the registration, it had already been completed online last night. Today, as long as he passed the physical examination, he could officially join ZAFT.

Junius City, Central Hospital, District 7

"Hello, I'm here to register for ZAFT."

Looking at the ZAFT physical examination registration window before him, Felix explained to the staff inside. The staff member glanced at Felix and asked, "Name!"

"Felix Leo Griffith!"

Meeting the staff member's gaze, Felix provided his name. The staff member asked him to wait a moment and shortly after handed over an examination form.

"Take this form and proceed with the corresponding examination items."

"Thank you!"
