Allyson's POV
I held the pregnancy test with shaking fingers, staring at those two unmistakable lines that seemed to burn into my vision. My heart hammered against my ribs as reality crashed over me like a tidal wave.
"It's real," I breathed, my voice barely audible. "Gina, I'm actually pregnant."
Her expression shifted instantly, eyes darting between my face and the plastic stick clutched in my trembling hand.
"Oh God," I gasped, feeling my chest constrict. "My entire world just fell apart."
The panic burst out of me in a torrent. "How could I be so reckless? So incredibly stupid? This is going to destroy everything Michael and I have built together."
Terror gripped me as I met her concerned gaze.
"I can't handle being someone's mother right now. What if Michael doesn't want this child? What if seeing me pregnant changes how he feels about me completely?"
"Allyson, just slow down," Gina attempted to interrupt, but my racing thoughts wouldn't stop.
