The jealousy hit me like a physical blow. Watching Reagan's eyes follow Allyson as she left the office, I saw everything I feared most reflected back at me. The longing in his gaze. The way his entire being seemed to focus on her retreating figure. This was a man still completely consumed by love.
The irony wasn't lost on me. Here I sat, harboring feelings for the same woman my son couldn't forget. The guilt had been eating away at me for months now, growing stronger each time I saw that look in Reagan's eyes. I'd convinced myself he would eventually heal, that time would dull the sharp edge of his attachment to her. But sitting across from him now, I realized how foolish that hope had been.
