Allyson's POV
The contract lay open on my desk like a taunt, its crisp white pages mocking me with every breath I took. Hours had passed since Michael placed it there, yet I remained frozen behind my desk, unable to tear my gaze away from the bold lettering that spelled out both our names.
My to-do list screamed for attention. Emails flooded my inbox. Meeting requests demanded responses. Deadlines loomed like storm clouds. But none of it mattered. Nothing could pull my focus from these pages that promised everything I'd ever wanted while simultaneously crushing what remained of my heart.
The pressure in my chest threatened to suffocate me. Was this another catastrophic decision waiting to happen? Another mistake I'd spend years regretting?
This was exactly why I'd fought to get inside Jade Innovations. I'd clawed my way through their tests, endured their games, proven my worth at every turn. All for this moment. This opportunity to make Morris a reality.
