No urgent emails demanding immediate responses. No conference calls at ungodly hours. No frantic rushes between meetings. Just blissful quiet that felt like luxury after weeks of chaos.
Moving toward the window, I drew back the heavy curtains just enough to allow streams of honeyed sunlight to spill across the floor. I closed my eyes and tilted my face upward, letting the warmth caress my bare shoulders. For this stolen moment, I could pretend the world had stopped spinning.
