Chapter 24 - Willing Heart, Weak Memory

After clicking the title, lines of game code filled the screen.

As Feng Qi scrolled down, his smile gradually froze.

Staring at the dense, overwhelming code, he realized his dream of becoming the world's richest man seemed to be slipping further away.

"How could any carbon-based lifeform possibly memorize all this?"

Too careless. Next time, remember to bring a portable hard drive.

The Narrator's timely jab twisted the knife.

If he could bring a real-world hard drive into the Dream Realm, this problem would be easily solved—just copy the contents. But the crux of the matter was that he couldn't bring anything from reality into the Dream Realm.

The art-related issues were manageable; he could find a studio in the real world to handle modeling and animation.

But without the game code, Savior couldn't be made at all.

The code contained the trajectories and operational logic of tens of thousands of techniques, forming the core of the game.

After a moment of silence, he sighed in regret.

Realizing your brain can't possibly memorize such a massive amount of game code, you can't help but wonder if there exists a prefix title that grants infinite memory.

The Narrator's hint instantly perked Feng Qi up.

"Does such a prefix title really exist? If I obtain it, will I gain perfect recall? And what kind of domain creature do I need to defeat to get it?"

Faced with Feng Qi's barrage of questions, the Narrator fell silent.

He gritted his teeth in frustration. The Narrator always went silent at crucial moments, a form of mental torture.

Closing the code page, Feng Qi felt a mix of regret and anticipation.

Though the Narrator was a jerk, he always pointed him in the right direction at critical times.

Feng Qi believed the Narrator's mention of a "prefix title" was likely true. After all, domain creatures of every imaginable type existed, so one with photographic memory seemed plausible.

However, creating the game Savior was out of the question for now. The plan would have to be postponed.

Checking the time, he saw he had 28 minutes until little black arrived.

For safety's sake, he decided to leave immediately and continue exploring the outside world, returning in a few days to check back.

Realizing that each entry into the Dream Realm now required replenishing the energy progress bar, he couldn't afford to die easily.

After all, this life was worth over a million.

The energy consumption was too high; his bank balance couldn't sustain it.

So he resolved to stay in the Dream Realm as long as possible.

Originally, his plan had been to fight little black even if he couldn't win, determined not to lose face.

But now his thinking had changed:

"If I can't win, can't I just run?"

It was like playing an arcade game: if you ran out of coins but wanted to keep playing, you had to make sure your current life didn't end prematurely.

Feng Qi emerged from the metal tunnel leading out of the Star City Underground Shelter.

The outside world was a desolate wasteland, buffeted by howling winds under a dim, yellow sky. A steady drizzle of blood rain fell from the dark, swirling clouds, where colossal black figures occasionally flashed through the gloom.

This was a world of deathly silence, unchanged despite his efforts.

Accustomed to the grim landscape, Feng Qi casually picked up a leg bone after exiting the tunnel and continued eastward.

Along the way, he activated Slaughter God Mode again, turning the living dead and worms he encountered into nourishment for his evolution.

After killing a living dead with a missing arm, Feng Qi felt another profound change in his body.

A warm current surged through him, and the pinkish flesh buds on his body transformed into clearly defined muscle striations. Though his internal organs remained decayed and atrophied, the stench of rot had noticeably diminished.

"One step closer to being human again," Feng Qi said, clenching his fist in excitement.

Summoning his status panel, he saw that his attributes had also changed:

Resilience (LV2) · Robust Living Dead: Feng Qi

Strength Tier: Unranked

Prefix Title: Robust (Physical Strength +20% and Enhanced Self-Healing), Resilience LV2 (Muscle Resilience +2%)

Bloodline: Human (Primary)

Bloodline Evolution Points: 113/1000

Prefix Title Milestones:

Robust (Upgradeable):

Second Milestone Progress: 0%

Resilience LV2 (Upgradeable): 2%

His prefix title had evolved from "Normal" to "Robust," and he could clearly feel a significant improvement in his physical attributes. As he exerted force, the leg bone in his hand cracked under his grip.

"I've gotten stronger again!" Feng Qi grinned, his mood soaring.

You're one step closer to becoming a muscle-bound monstrosity! Keep going!

"Shut up!"

Alright!

Following the Narrator's guidance, Feng Qi traveled eastward for several hours until he finally left the living dead region littered with skeletal remains.

Before him lay a landscape of dilapidated structures: billboards hanging upside down by their wires, office buildings missing large sections and leaning precariously, dust-covered storefronts, and collapsed skyscrapers blocking the roads.

Wandering through the ruins, he felt like he had stepped into a post-apocalyptic world from a movie.

Driven by curiosity about the Future Dream Realm, he climbed to the top of an eighteen-story building and surveyed the horizon.

As far as the eye could see, the land was desolate, populated only by living dead and bizarre monsters roaming aimlessly.

A sudden wave of despondency washed over him.

"If I can't return to reality and I'm the only one left in this world, can I keep going?"

I don't know about you, but I definitely couldn't. This is just too damn lonely. No resources, no company—just living dead and monsters all day. Is this even a place for a carbon-based lifeform to survive?

Feng Qi: ...

Oh, right, I forgot to add: even though I can't, I think you can!

Feng Qi: ...

The unfiltered, constantly popping-up-to-comment Narrator always caught him off guard.

After a moment's contemplation, he asked, "Narrator, what exactly are you? Are you like a tutorial guide in a game?"

Since you've asked so sincerely, I'll mercifully tell you... (a slight pause, then background music swells) Baby, baby, I'm your daddy!

"Come on, if you've got the guts, jump out of my head and see if I don't beat you to a pulp." Feng Qi's forehead veins throbbed, overwhelmed by the urge to pummel the Narrator.

Yet the Narrator's teasing had also dispelled the lingering sense of disappointment in his heart.

Taking a deep breath, he began climbing back down the way he'd come.

He still couldn't confirm whether little black had left the underground shelter. His next move was to continue exploring this post-apocalyptic world.

As he climbed down the outer wall and his feet touched the ground, Feng Qi abruptly turned to his right. A floating, crimson eye had materialized beside him, its presence unnoticed until now.
