When they returned to the village, the atmosphere was worse. Smoke rose from the northern watchtower, and villagers scrambled to put out small fires.
Shadow ran to the elder. "What happened?!"
Elder Rhun turned gravely. "We were attacked."
Shadow's heart sank. "By the same creature?"
The elder shook his head. "No. Something faster. Invisible. We never saw it — only felt the strikes."
Unseen…
Fast…
Intelligent…
Kael stepped forward. "It seems the corruption is spreading faster than expected."
Shadow's jaw tightened. "Then I'll stop it."
That night, shadowy figures danced at the edge of the forest. Strange symbols glowed on the ground. Something — or someone — was controlling the creatures.
As Shadow approached, an unseen force slashed the air, barely missing his neck.
Kael shouted, "It's here!"
Shadow activated the Shadow Flame, illuminating the area. For a moment, he saw it — a tall figure cloaked in flowing darkness, its face hidden by a shifting mask.
Its voice echoed deeply.
"Shadow Flame… I've been waiting."
Shadow stepped forward. "Who are you?!"
The figure chuckled.
"Your opposite."
The enemy vanished, leaving behind only a chilling whisper.
Kael placed a hand on Shadow's shoulder. "The real battle has begun."
