(Lunavia pov)

Growing up i was like a caged serpent despised by everyone the only one who would have shown me a bit of empathy was dead, most of the time I wished my mother wasn't Duchess Hastings my appearance was my greatest foe I am constantly reprimanded for it .I recalled when I was a kid I attempted to play with my fellow agemates most of them ran when they saw me while few stayed they were hesitant to play with me at first,my eyes glistened with tears at their reaction the kids resolve slowly melted as they saw my pitiful state. They played several games with me it was my first time so I wasn't good at it I gradually improved under Thier careful and constant guidance, for the first time I felt good unfortunately good things never lasted in my life.few days later thier parents found out and punished them severely I wasn't left out as the daughter of a powerful general mere commoners couldn't dare lay their hands on me, different insult was hurled at me they told me things I couldn't comprehend I ran home weeping uncontrollable it was the first time I was starting to experience happiness only to end up forsaken. My father came to me as soon as he heard what happened I thought he wanted to cheer me up instead he gave me uncountable lashes of came and warned me never to step outside the this mansion,my entire body was sore most of the times I could barely move it took about a month for my body to recover completely.

Ever since that day I didn't go outside I rarely said anything I was no longer the cheerful child anymore craving for affection or recognition,I fully endorsed my time in the library reading books at first I read to research about my appearance but I found nothing so I have up the idea of looking for the cause of my misfortune.most times I will spend hours staring at my reflection I looked gorgeous and beautiful,my features are rare but I wasn't ugly I was very desirable maybe my eyes were just the issue.over the time my interest for literature grew intense I started writing poems and stories, they were great pieces of writing even my governess applauded my talent I was so happy I was finally deriving joy from something I didn't need anyone approval for.I begged my father to allow me publish my work but he bluntly refused without reading even a brief peom"you have never done anything useful literature are meant for scholars not poor minded wrench like you"he said, his words hit me with a throbbing sensation I cried until I decided to take control of my life.I wasn't going to live my life waiting to be accepted by the people who hated the mere thought of my existence I started selling my works in disguise no one knew it was me,I would dress like a Muslim covering my hair then I wore a pair of eyepatch and pretended to be blind.I didn't dare use my real name as my pen name I used jinx instead it was an unusual name it sparked curiosity drawing people to my works , people loved my work I soon became famous I was known as lady Jinx I started earning large amount of money the feeling was more than satisfactory I was proud of myself I fully immersed myself in my work,I always heard the nobles praising my work I couldn't imagine the look on their face of they found out I am their beloved lady Jinx.

The day of my coming of age finally arrived,it was a event whereby family present thier daughters into society it is usually for a girl who was ready for marriage. It was my nineteenth birthday the coming of age ceremony was to be held in a few weeks it was the perfect chance to escape from the grasp of my father as the daughter of a general I will marry a noble even if I was considered a tool to elevate their status ,even if I was a jinx my status gave me power.I just needed to be introduced into society and get married I know I wasn't going to be in a lovey_dovey relationship with my husband I just needed a escape route, with the money I acquired from writing I would be able to live a simple life without the help of my spouse. On the coming of age my father rejected my attempts to be introduced into society "young ladies are introduced by their mother"he said reminding me I was the cause of my mother death,I already knew my father has no intention of letting me celebrate my coming of age I had prepared ahead time.At the scheduled day I arrived at the ball it was held at the royal palace, the palace was gigantic and stunning I tried not to gawk at it,I wore a white beautiful gown matching my eyes and hair I looked breath taking.Everyone started whispering as soon as they saw me I didn't care when it was time for the girls to be introduced by their mothers I went alone and Introduced myself as lady Jinx startling everyone, when it was time to dance I danced with some Lord's they were dazed by my looks but none offered marriage I wasn't discouraged at least I was able to make myself known to everyone one I wasn't the girl who was caged I was finally free from my father grasp
