Chapter 5 - [CH05] Meditation

Generally speaking, children who have just awakened their Martial Soul find it difficult to fully control their Martial Soul.

Even the simplest actions of retracting and releasing them are challenging for them.

And for Soul Power, which has no fixed form, controlling it is even more difficult.

To control it freely is a realm that many Soul Masters cannot achieve in their entire lives.

Zhao Liuyun's mental force far exceeded that of ordinary people, allowing him to quickly control his Martial Soul, but his Soul Power still required slow training, just like everyone else.

This is like people being born with hands and feet, but not being born knowing how to walk; both are the same principle.

"Condense, circulate..."

Silently reciting the key mantra, Zhao Liuyun slowly gathered the Soul Power within his body.

Gradually, the concentrated Soul Power began to circulate slowly along his meridians.

[You are cultivating through Meditation. Although the method is crude and the movements clumsy, you have refined a small amount of heaven and earth origin energy. Class Experience for the Soul Master Profession +1]

...In a quiet and peaceful atmosphere, night silently fell.

"Coo coo coo—"

Zhao Liuyun was awakened by hunger.

He had been too engrossed in Meditation at noon, forgetting the time and missing his meal.

And the feeling of Meditation was so comfortable that he had fallen into a deep sleep at some point.

Sitting cross-legged was originally a good way to prevent falling asleep, but Zhao Liuyun, as a Thief, with Agility enhancing him, had muscles with good flexibility.

"Awake?" Bai Hong had a kindly smile on his face.

"Mm... awake."

Zhao Liuyun stared blankly ahead, as if still savoring the feeling of Meditation.

"How does your first Meditation feel?"

"It's alright." His attention was mostly focused on the attribute Panel, and he answered with some hesitation, "It's just—"

[Soul Power: Level 5 (1331/1500)]

The notifications for gaining experience from Meditation popped up intermittently three times. After a whole afternoon of Meditation, it only added 3 points?

So little?

"Just what?"

"Why don't I feel anything?" Zhao Liuyun moved his body, his face filled with confusion.

If it weren't for the Panel clearly showing the increase in experience, he would have thought he had simply slept for an afternoon.

Bai Hong's expression was very complex: "Cultivation is like this, boring and tedious. Unless your level increases, the growth from each Meditation is almost imperceptible..."

"The only solution—"

"Is to maintain perseverance and take it slow!"

Zhao Liuyun nodded, taking these earnest words to heart.

He more deeply understood the tremendous help brought by the Class Panel.

Being able to clearly see the growth of experience points was like seeing a guiding light in the long night!

It gave people hope and infused continuous motivation into cultivation, so they didn't have to cultivate arduously in ignorance like others.

This clear way of perceiving one's own progress was simply a world of difference compared to fumbling forward in the unknown!

"Coo coo coo—"

Zhao Liuyun's stomach rumbled again. Bai Hong smiled at the sound: "There's no need to rush with Meditation. It's already this late, let's eat first."

"If you still want to be a Physician, you can take a few medical books from me later."

His tone was gentle, yet carried an undeniable seriousness.

"Memorize them first, then study other content!"

Saying this, Bai Hong paused again and said in a deep voice: "However, you must remember—Soul Masters are founded on cultivation; you must not neglect Meditation because of memorizing books!"

The last sentence was spoken with particular emphasis, his gaze sharp and piercing like electricity, as if carrying some unspoken expectation.

Zhao Liuyun naturally understood the importance of power.

Truth lies only at the sword's edge, and dignity only within the range of a cannon's fire!

These stern maxims were always etched in his heart, needing no further mention from Bai Hong.

However, hearing the familiar words "memorizing books," he couldn't help but twitch the corner of his mouth.

"Thank you for your reminder, Old Man Bai."

Indeed, no matter where one is, to stand out, one ultimately cannot escape diligent study and hard work.

After speaking, the strictness on Bai Hong's face vanished instantly, replaced by a smile: "No need to be so formal. Since you're going to learn medicine with me, then you are my disciple."

"You should change how you address me, Liuyun."

"Teacher." Zhao Liuyun decisively and respectfully saluted.

"Haha~"

Bai Hong laughed heartily, clearly very satisfied.

After eating, Zhao Liuyun took the basic medical books given by his Teacher and went home.

However, he just set them aside.

He could memorize the books later.

Only one Profession can be set per specialization. Compared to the Physician Profession, whose function is unknown, the Student Profession, which is likely to be of greater help in the future, is more important.

Perhaps the reason it couldn't be set before was because he wasn't yet an official Student?

And in the days that followed, Zhao Liuyun planned to seriously Meditate.

He needed to improve his control over Soul Power, at least to prevent falling asleep during Meditation again!

...Time flowed like light, and a month passed in the blink of an eye.

Aside from occasional visits to the Medical Hall, Zhao Liuyun spent most of his time at home.

His main activity was practicing Meditation.

He made remarkable progress.

Through diligent effort, like "Hanging one's head from the beam and pricking one's thigh with an awl," he finally overcame the predicament of falling into a daze halfway through Meditation.

The speed at which he gained experience from Meditation also increased.

It went from 5 Class Experience points per day of arduous cultivation to 14 points.

He could gain a maximum of 2 experience points per hour, but only if he was fully focused.

It sounded simple—it was just about concentrating.

But in practice, it was incredibly difficult.

Children are naturally active, and Zhao Liuyun was also affected by his body; restless blood seemed to flow through his veins.

And his soul, which came from the information age and had rapidly processed vast amounts of information, was plagued by distractions, his thoughts often drifting to unknown distant places.

This was probably an unavoidable common ailment for Transmigrator (Transmigrator).

Fortunately, the Mind Like Still Water trait protected his mind, allowing Zhao Liuyun to always remain calm and not be disturbed by numerous emotions, thus achieving his initial goal.

After a month of arduous cultivation, his Soul Power naturally broke through to Level 6.

[Soul Power: Level 6 (25/1600)]

Zhao Liuyun experienced the feeling of breakthrough that Old Man Bai spoke of; that instant exhilaration swept through his entire body in a flash, almost indescribable.

As for the medical books, he only reviewed them when his Meditation efficiency decreased, treating it as a way to adjust his mind.

A new brain was indeed easy to use, or perhaps it was due to his powerful mental force; his memory speed was so fast that his Teacher Bai Hong clicked his tongue in wonder.

However, the path of medicine is vast, and he was still in the foundational stage.

The Douluo Continent was still a vibrant, rising fantasy world, with biodiversity and species far exceeding his previous life.

Just the various types of medicinal herbs, their processing methods, medicinal properties, and so on, filled dozens of books.

How many years and months would it take to master all of this?

Zhao Liuyun didn't want to give up halfway; his only hope was the Student Profession.

It was time for enrollment, and he needed to change Professions as soon as possible.

Hopefully, it would be helpful!

Student!

Retrieving the certificate issued by Su Yuntao from a dark corner of his home, Zhao Liuyun quickly walked towards the academy.
