Chapter 5 - CHAPTER 5 — Can I Go Now?

The room was silent.

Too silent.

The student council sat frozen, still processing the barrage of frightening misunderstandings they had formed in the last ten minutes. On the other side of the walls, high-ranking government officers, analysts, and special division commanders watched the CCTV feed like it was a live bomb.

Noah Sato just stood there, calm… blank… terrifyingly unreadable.

Then he slowly lifted his head—expression hollow—and stared directly into the hidden camera in the corner.

Everyone monitoring flinched.

And Noah simply asked:

"…Can I go now?"

He said it so casually that the officers jolted like someone had dropped a grenade in the control room.

"D-Did he just address the concealed camera?"

"Does he know we're watching?"

"He detected it? At that distance? Without looking?!"

"Monster. He's an absolute monster…"

Inside the interrogation room, the student council president swallowed hard.

"Y-You… want to… leave?"

Noah nodded politely.

"Yeah. If I get home late… Nana will get worried."

The entire control room ERUPTED.

"WHAT!?"

"N-Nana!? Code Name: Nana!?"

"She's HERE? In THIS town!?"

"Why wasn't HQ informed!?"

"If she's his handler, this boy is far above red-tier clearance!"

"Evacuate VIP paths! Deploy silent escorts NOW!"

One officer opened the classified agent index with trembling fingers.

He typed:

Agent Codename: NANA

The system froze for a moment.

Then a red screen appeared—one only accessible to the highest level.

TOP-LEVEL CONFIDENTIALITY

SAVIOR OF THE NATION — DO NOT PROCEED WITHOUT SUPREME AUTHORIZATION

Everyone turned pale.

"Why… Why would she worry about him…?"

"What is this kid…?"

"What level monster did we almost provoke!?"

Back in the room, Noah scratched his cheek awkwardly.

(Such a scary-looking teacher… I couldn't even make eye contact with her today. If I'm late, she'll probably make me redo all 30 homework sheets again…)

Everyone watching interpreted his blank expression very differently.

"Look at his calmness…"

"He's not scared of Nana at all…"

"He speaks her codename casually… does that mean he's on equal standing?"

"Or higher!?"

The student council VP carefully asked:

"U-Um… who exactly… is Nana to you…?"

Noah blinked.

Then—because why not deepen the misunderstanding—he answered honestly:

"She raised me."

(Parents are always out of town for work so it wouldn't be wrong to tell them she raised me.)

Silence.

Then mass panic.

"RAISED… BY NANA!?"

"Does that mean she personally trained him!?"

"No wonder he sensed the hidden camera…"

"Is he… is he some sort of ultra-elite off-book asset!?"

"Why did we summon him like a normal student!? Are we insane!?"

Meanwhile, Noah simply walked toward the exit, limping slightly.

The student council scrambled aside like he was a ticking bomb.

He reached the door, placed his hand on the handle, and looked one more time at the hidden camera.

Expression hollow.

Emotion unreadable.

Killing intent faint—like a cornered beast politely asking to leave the cage.

"I'll go now."

He opened the door.

Stepped out.

Closed it behind him.

And the entire country's command room fell into utter chaos.

Dozens of alarms went off—systems auto-flagging "HIGH-RISK ENTITY DETECTED" simply because Noah mentioned the name Nana.

Officers were shouting over each other:

"Cross-check the intel!"

"Verify her location!"

"Did she really come out of retirement!?"

"Why wasn't the President informed!?"

One analyst screamed:

"T-The system is requesting executive authorization! We need the President's seal to confirm Agent Nana's current status!"

"Then CALL THEM!"

A direct line to the Presidential Office was opened.

The President's Chief Security Officer answered immediately, voice tense.

"This is the Blue Office. Why have you opened a priority channel?"

The command room director stammered:

"W-We have a situation. We need confirmation on Agent Codename: Nana—Savior of the Nation. Is she… by any chance… residing in Shinohara District right now?"

There was a sharp inhale on the other end.

"…Who told you that?"

"We received verbal information from someone who claims she will 'get worried' if he's late home."

Silence.

Deadly, heavy silence.

Then the Chief Security Officer whispered:

"…Then the boy you're talking to—do not provoke him."

The entire command room froze.

"She is indeed in Shinohara District," he continued.

"For the past month, we elevated the town's security level to silent tier-three… Do NOT mention her presence publicly."

"But why is she there…!?"

"We don't know," the officer admitted.

"Agent Nana's movements are classified even to us. We only received a direct message from her:

'Do not interfere.'"

Everyone paled.

"That means… she came out herself?"

"For a boy? THIS boy!?"

"Then his threat level must be—"

The Chief Security Officer cut them off.

"One more thing."

Everyone held their breath.

"If she is watching over him personally…

then that child is someone the nation must never antagonize.

We will dispatch a secondary silent protection unit around the school immediately."

Beep.

The line disconnected.

The command room stared at each other in horror.

One officer whispered:

"…The President's office just confirmed Nana's presence. We're dealing with something far, far above our clearance."

Another trembled.

"If Nana is acting alone…

then this boy is either a national treasure—

or a national calamity."
