The entire chamber instantly became pitch-black.
Black energy surged in wildly.
WarGreymon's body
was like a gigantic, bottomless black hole.
It frantically devoured the energy filling the space.
Dark-type energy poured into him.
Shiko's body did not feel the slightest discomfort.
On the contrary,
every single one of his cells
was doing everything in its power to absorb that energy.
This process lasted a full ten minutes.
Only after all the Dark-type energy that had permeated and soaked into the wall had been completely absorbed by Shiko did it finally come to an end.
That enormous amount of energy
also caused the Dark-type energy within Shiko to accumulate to an astonishing extent, triggering a quantitative breakthrough.
The Dark-type law he had grasped
instantly shot up to the shocking level of fifty percent!
As he felt the brand-new type energy within his body,
Shiko, besides feeling excited, also felt a trace of relief.
If he had not already evolved to the level of a Second-tier Legendary,
then absorbing such a massive amount of type energy left behind by a Second-tier Legendary all at once
would definitely not have felt good on his body.
Once all the energy in the wall had been absorbed,
the stone revealed its original dull gray color.
Shiko's gaze fell upon the mural once again.
That abstract mural of Yveltal also began to undergo some changes, slowly lighting up.
Before he even had time to think,
a series of cracking sounds rang out from the wall.
Thin, dense fissures emerged,
spreading outward
and in the blink of an eye covering the entire chamber.
It was going to collapse!
Shiko leaped upward.
With one claw, he ripped open the roof, which had already started shedding falling stone fragments,
and shot straight out through the opening.
After passing through a stretch of darkness, he returned to the surface.
Hovering in midair, he looked down below.
The ruins had already begun collapsing continuously.
Huge stone blocks shattered, giving off thunderous rumbling sounds.
The entire enormous ancient statue
turned into a heap of rubble in the blink of an eye.
Shiko stared at that patch of ruins for a long time.
He felt that this was probably because he had absorbed all the Dark-type energy belonging to Yveltal that had permeated and been contained within the stone structure.
After giving it one deep look,
he did not stay any longer.
Turning around,
he flew toward the Northern Military Division.
This exploration of the ruins had gone far faster than he had expected.
Originally, he had thought
that it would take at least a full day to figure out the situation inside.
But unexpectedly,
it had all ended within such a short time.
Now,
he had already grasped half of the one hundred percent Dark-type law needed to transform into BlackWarGreymon form.
The remaining half...
...
Northern Military Division base.
By the time Himeko returned to the camp,
Minister Kenjiro and the group of top combat forces who had gone to capture Genjo had also returned.
The moment Himeko saw that,
she knew this capture operation had almost certainly failed.
"Damn it! We were only a tiny bit away from bringing him back!"
"If that group hadn't suddenly appeared to stop us, Genjo would already be locked up in the interrogation room of our Northern Military Division right now!"
Minister Kenjiro was so furious that his beard bristled and his eyes widened.
His chest heaved without stop.
He slammed the table hard,
shaking over the tea on top of it.
Following what Shiko had said,
they had immediately mobilized the remaining top combat forces and rushed off in pursuit in the direction Genjo had fled.
Sure enough, just as Shiko had predicted,
Team Dark's situation was in terrible shape.
WarGreymon had forcibly severed Genjo's connection to Mew, causing his mind to suffer a tremendous shock, leaving him in a half-conscious state.
Among the remaining Team Dark members,
the only ones who still posed any threat were two Elite Four-level cadres.
With that kind of lineup,
the Military should have been able to take them down with ease!
Just as they were about to make their move,
another group of people suddenly appeared out of nowhere.
There were not many of them,
only around ten or so.
After the two sides came face-to-face, those suddenly appearing strangers did not say a single word.
They immediately sent out their Pokémon,
taking up a stance for battle.
Among the dozen or so Pokémon that appeared,
the weakest were already at the initial Elite Four level.
And the strongest among them
had actually reached the middle stage of Champion level!
Moreover, every single one of them was in peak condition, brimming with fighting spirit.
"Who are you people?"
Minister Kenjiro frowned and stared at them cautiously as he barked the question.
The other side remained silent and did not answer.
The response to Minister Kenjiro's question
was a fierce Flamethrower.
The pillar of fire brushed past his hair.
The scorching heat
singed quite a bit of it.
That overbearing and arrogant style
instantly made Minister Kenjiro furious.
There was no doubt about it.
These people were very clearly on the opposing side.
And their attitude was tyrannical and arrogant, showing no fear whatsoever of coming into conflict with the Military.
