They were indeed important matters.

It was also printed in newspapers delivered throughout the continent by winged Pokémon and displayed on posters hanging inside Pokémon Centers everywhere.
This December, the Capital Region would host the first continent-wide Trainer tournament—the Omega Cup!
Competitors who entered the top ten would receive exceptionally generous rewards.
They would also be allowed to select a Pokémon Egg from the Alliance Headquarters' warehouse.
The tournament champion would receive even more valuable rewards, as well as the right to select a Pokémon Egg.
In addition, the champion would be awarded a powerful Elite Four-level Pokémon.
On top of all that, the champion would be permitted to make one request of the Alliance.
As long as the request was not excessively unreasonable, the Alliance would grant it.
News of the tournament spread across the entire continent within a remarkably short time.
With such generous prizes and the immense appeal of the continent's first Alliance-wide Trainer tournament, the number of registered Trainers exceeded one hundred thousand on the very first day.
The overwhelming traffic caused the registration website's servers to crash.
The organizers had to assign additional personnel overnight before they finally resolved all the problems.
They had originally estimated that only two or three hundred thousand people would register by the end of the application period.
They had believed that even exceeding ten thousand registrations on the first day would already be an impressive result.
They never imagined that the actual number would surpass their expectations tenfold.
After all, only Trainers who had collected every required Gym Badge were eligible to register.
They had not expected so many people to have completed their Gym challenges.
However, after thinking about it more carefully, one hundred thousand people did not seem particularly excessive when divided among all the previously independent regional Alliances.
Considering that so many people had registered on the very first day, the Alliance estimated that the final number of participants would certainly exceed one million.
