His mother had been stupefied when he told her his interest in pot-making and sculpting.
It's not just her, everyone who heard his newest interest, all looked at him as if he had grown a second head or something. Which make him wonder..
Was it that unusual?
When he voiced his question, his mother seems to realize something and apologized. Not that Sengo understand at that time, but over time, he began to understand why his mother reacted that way. It was because she had been looked down upon because of her interest in exploring the unknown. His mother was a traveller after all, it was also the reason how she met his father on a journey far East.
His father followed his mother after falling in love with her. And then they decided to settle down after travelling so much. In the end, it had been in his mother's home town, Rain City, that they setlled in. And the rest was history.
Anyway.
As he started pursuing his interest, Charlie decided to try pottery and sculpting as well. It seemed like Charlie was interested after seeing the making process of pottery when Sengo's teacher was making an example of how it was made, all the while teaching the techniques. It's not like Charlie joining was a problem, in fact, he was welcome to try as well.
Soon though, they found out that both Sengo and Charlie was a genius in the art. After all, they had somehow managed to make a pot after only a few failures. And considering they were basically newbies and children, whose muscles weren't that controlled when it come to shaping wet clay, and was unused to it. It should've been harder, but they somehow managed to do it.
And then, sculpting. Charlie had given up on that, he seems to prefer using clay to create his statues instead of the stones that Sengo choose. It was indeed not something a beginner should have tried for their first time. But Sengo wanted to grow his control over his strength better when he picked the hammer. And what was not better compared to sculpting stones with a small hammer and a nail? It was the perfect control training, one that would abled him to move more precisely when he put his hammer to hot steel and shape it to a shape he wanted.
Now, he just want to believe he was heading down the right path to his dream.
Really.
--
Sengo find himself lost in the Count's mansion.
It was an accident, really!
He was playing hide and seek with Charlie, who said that he didn't know what that was, which led to Sengo trying to teach him and then thinking that maybe practice would make Charlie understand better the rule of the game.
Sengo had been hiding in the Guard's training ground of Count Henituse. But Charlie was especially skilled in playing it and Sengo almost got caught many times. If it hadn't been for Sengo's own mind map of the place, he would have been found. Though that may be the problem and reason why he got himself further than he ever had been into the Count's abode (mansion), and now he's lost.
He cursed his own luck, it had somehow grown worse with age. As if his luck was deteriorating and was going to the perimeter of D or worse... E. The thought made him shudder, he still remember Shirou Emiya's karma, having bad luck while also having an overpowered skill in his disposal. Such was the way of the world. Not that Shirou, nor Senji or Sengo cared about that. To Shirou, it was for his Ideal, Hero of Justice. To Senji, it had been to make a sword that severs Fate, Destiny, and Karma itself. And then, there was him, Sengo, who also aimed to create the blade Senji wanted to create. It may not be his, but it was his choice to follow it, thus it was also his.
Anyway, Sengo was still lost.
He didn't know where he was or what to do. So, he was just doing what any lost person who got their mind straight would do, sit still. It was less time consuming and less energy consuming. Also, if he were to move around, it make searching for him or chances of him meeting anyone harder. Sitting still was his best bet.
Though he got bored after awhile. What? As much as he was an adult in a child body, someone got to get bored if they were in his position. He doesn't care if it was immature, he's still a kid even with his adult mind.
Yes, he realize this after a while. It may bite him in the ass later when the world decided to f*ck him with something like bandits or monster (if there were any here), but as many said, that's a problem for future him not the present him, who was only 6 year old.
Anyway.
Sengo was sitting in a hallway of the Count's mansion. It may not be appropriate, but hey- it's not like anyone was here to make him keep appearances. He was just sitting quietly, doing nothing, when he caught a whiff of something. It was a nice smell.
Food.
He contemplates of what he should do. Should he keep sitting still here, or go find where that smell comes from?
The answer was obvious, which one was better? Of course... Food!
And so, Sengo stood up and uses his nose to lead him to where the smell came from. It was an easy task, considering his nose was pretty sensitive to smell.
Which, it led him to a door.
Sengo look up at the sign that was put on the door, it said 'kitchen 3'. Make you feel insignificant considering this was a mansion of a noble, of course they got many kitchen! The Shirou part in him feel like he was entering heaven.
But he didn't dwell on the thought so much, not when the smell got even better as he was right in front of its source!
Eagerly and cautiously, he opened the door, which opened up to a stair case that probably lead to the kitchen itself. He didn't think much, which his future self would be disappointed and slam his head when he remembered this very moment, when he walked down those stairs and was met with a large kitchen with someone, who looked like a teenager, around 16-18, maybe? He seemed to be focusing on cooking a dish. Could it be that he's learning to make a dish?
Sengo walked closer without making a sound. Not that he was being quiet, he was not an Assassin, but a Blacksmith and a Swordman, of course, not either just yet, but semantics. But the older boy was more focused on his dish rather than Sengo, so he managed to get closer.
Sengo look over what the older boy was cooking. It smelled familiar and yet a little bit different. Was it... "Are you making Steak?" He was really straining his own survival skill. But hey, he's tired and hungry, who in their right mind would be in their right mind in this situation?
The older boy was spooked, and turned towards him with an annoyed look. Sengo also could see that he almost threw the knife in his hand towards his direction. Sengo though, didn't do much as a flinch at that motion, he was used to it when he was doing just the same thing with the Guards. The older boy frowned upon seeing him, of course, he was confused and annoyed by Sengo for being the little gremlin that he was for disturbing his ritual.
Sengo took delight at that fact.
"... Who are you?" The older boy asked.
"Sengo Muramasa, what about you, older brother?" Sengo's nickname seems to annoy the boy even more.
"Beacrox Molan, and don't call me that. What are you doing here?" The older boy, Beacrox resumed his interrogation.
"I was lost and i smelled your cooking. Speaking of that, you should probably continue." Sengo decided to sit down and watch the older boy cook. It reminded him of his past when he lives alone, both as Sengo and Senji, Shirou doesn't count.
Senji cooked for himself, if he remembered to eat, that is. That Old Man spends too much time honing his skills to even eat or sleep, he only did when someone came to bring an ordered sword or other weapons. And Sengo had to take care of himself as well ever since he was a child and his parents passed and his relatives like to ignore him. Not that it matters anymore, Sengo was happier here. Both his parents and relatives here are well and alive, also nice.
Beacrox seems even more annoyed but sighed and went back to cook his dish. But this time, he was unable to focus with the kid that had just barged in the kitchen and disturbed his alone time. It's not like Sengo was doing anything, but the mere presence alone annoyed him.
"... Can you get out?" He finally asked.
"I told you i was lost. I don't know where to go. This place is huge." Sengo just shrugged and keep himself busy by looking around with his eyes.
Beacrox sighed again and decides to try ignoring the kid again and focuses on his dish.
Thus, they fell into a quiet silence. Beacrox cooking and Sengo watching. And before they knew it, Beacrox was done.
Sengo smelled the air, it was a drool-worthy smell. He wanted to try it, but he feels like the Steak wasn't for him in the first place. So, he just sighed in disappointment, catching Beacrox eyes.
The older boy narrowed his eyes, suspicious of the red haired boy. But as he followed the boy's gaze, he started to realize what the boy wanted.
Beacrox picked the plate with the Steak, put it on the table and put the chair near him in front of it, reminisced a dinner table. Sengo watched him with his golden eyes, curious but didn't voice his curiosity.
The older boy then turned to Sengo, as if waiting. Seeing as the younger boy didn't understand, Beacrox elaborated, "the Steak isn't for serve. I'm just practicing, you can eat it if you want." He grunted.
Sengo's eyes widened before a wide grin broke out of him and he hurriedly went to sit on the chair by the table. He behaved himself and then prayed like his father had taught him, "Itadakimashu.." And then he dig in.
Beacrox didn't question what Sengo was doing, but he sighed tiredly seeing the boy eat. It's not that he was messy, but seeing him eat reminded him that the kid probably hadn't eaten anything since coming down here and probably ever since he claimed to be 'lost', which Beacrox didn't know since when.
"I'll help you get back to your parents once you're done and once i cleaned things here." Beacrox said, Sengo didn't say anything, but the older boy know he heard him.
And that was how Sengo and Beacrox became 'brothers'.
--
"By the way, Beacrox hyung, the Steak was nice, but i think there was still something missing." Sengo said as Beacrox lead him out of the mansion.
Beacrox frowned, "what is it?" He asked.
Sengo shrugged, "i don't really know myself, but my tongue doesn't feel right. It was greasy and..."
And that was also how the Muramasa found him, talking non stop about a dish with Beacrox listening.
....
A little reminder, Sengo got punished for entering the Count's mansion without permission and for making the family worry, not that Count Henituse himself seems to mind since Sengo was a 'family friend'. But even after that he still come back to watch Beacrox cook and sometimes cook something himself.
(Beacrox wouldn't admit it, but Sengo was a master when it come to cooking as well)
