Chapter 102: Big Black in Battle
The sudden sound startled Big Black, making his body jerk. The hand he intended to use for a rock turned into paper. Little Black's mouth curved upward: scissors! He won.
When Big Black regained his composure, he realized he had lost. He covered his head with both hands. He definitely meant to throw a rock!
Big Black, unwilling to accept defeat, wanted to go again, but Little Black extended two fingers and flicked Big Black's head.
"Time to work." Little Black immediately reported what happened here to Silas.
Big Black sat aside, feeling wronged and rubbing the spot Little Black had flicked. He clearly won! If it weren't for the noise downstairs, his rock wouldn't have been scared into paper.
Silas's Room
Hearing Little Black's report, Silas passed through the wall and entered Peter's room.
"Whoa!" Peter was looking at his computer when a face suddenly popped out of the screen, startling him.
"What are you watching?" Just as Silas was about to look at the screen, Peter quickly shut off the power.
Peter nervously explained, "N-nothing... nothing, just... looking... at study materials!"
"Study materials?" Silas looked at Peter with suspicion.
Peter felt uneasy under Silas's gaze, so he quickly changed the subject. "Silas, what do you need me for?"
"Something happened with Teacher Klein," Silas said. He still felt Peter was hiding something.
"What!" Peter jumped up immediately. "Let's go quickly."
"Put some clothes on first," Silas said, looking at Peter's lower half.
Peter was currently wearing a white T-shirt and shorts, with his Spider-Suit carelessly tossed at the foot of the bed.
"Oh, right!" Peter did a backflip onto the bed, picked up the Spider-Suit, and quickly put it on.
"Aren't you afraid Uncle Ben might suddenly show up before you have time to hide it?" Silas asked helplessly. Peter was too careless. If it were him, he would hide the suit properly.
Peter put on his mask and said, "Uncle Ben hasn't gotten off work yet, and Aunt May is downstairs watching TV. She doesn't have time to come up and check on us. Besides, my door is locked, unless someone comes straight through like you."
"Aha, let's go." Silas opened the Shadow Realm entrance and entered first, with Peter following closely behind.
Klein's House
"Why is there no movement?" Silas and Peter had arrived on Klein's rooftop, but they couldn't hear a single sound.
Little Black shook his head. He wasn't sure either. The sound had occurred once and then disappeared. After that, it was as quiet as if nothing had happened.
"Silas, how about we sneak in and check?" Peter suggested.
Silas thought for a moment. He was originally going to let Little Black and Big Black investigate, but since Peter suggested it, they might as well go together.
"Mhm, in that case..." Before Silas could finish, Big Black volunteered, raising his hand and jumping out.
Peter looked at Silas, confused. "What does that mean?"
"He wants to go check first," Silas explained.
Big Black nodded quickly next to them. Little Black always got the credit. Big Black really wanted to prove himself, to show he was capable and stronger than Little Black!
"Alright," Peter thought that was fine. If the situation went wrong, he and Silas would rush in.
Big Black saw that Silas and Peter agreed with his idea. He puffed out his chest and slowly sank into the house.
Only Little Black stood by, his mouth twitching slightly. He naturally understood Big Black's intentions: if he wanted to show off, then go ahead.
Just in case, before Big Black fully entered the house, Little Black slipped the hilt of a laser sword into Big Black's hand.
Feeling the object in his hand, Big Black thought, Little Black is actually so kind. I really underestimated him. From today onward, Little Black is my best Shadowkhan friend.
Swish!
Big Black landed in the living room. The lights illuminated the entire house, but Klein was nowhere to be seen.
The whole house was frighteningly silent. Many broken pieces of furniture lay scattered on the floor, looking as if a storm had passed through.
Big Black pressed the button on the hilt with his thumb. This was the laser sword's switch; pressing it would activate the blade of light.
He adopted a fighting stance and cautiously approached a dark room. The other rooms had lights on, but this room was dark—it must be where the problem was.
Holding the hilt with one hand, Big Black picked up a broken chair leg from the floor and tossed it into the room.
Thump! The chair leg landed, followed by complete silence.
Just as Big Black was lowering his guard and preparing to enter the room, he suddenly remembered something.
He was a Shadowkhan ninja. Even with the lights off and no illumination, he could still see everything around him. Humans, however, were different; without light, they couldn't see a thing. Wouldn't this be his home turf?
Thinking this, Big Black couldn't help but inwardly compliment himself. No sooner said than done, Big Black immediately cut the power to the entire house.
In the dark, only Big Black's glowing scarlet eyes were visible. As he was about to investigate further, he suddenly saw two small red lanterns glowing in front of him.
Big Black took a closer look. They weren't red lanterns at all! They were clearly the eyes of a monster covered in brown fur!
"Who are you?" Klein said, retracting his mandibles.
A few minutes ago, Klein was happily preparing dinner when he suddenly felt a pain in his body. It was as if something was trying to burst out of him. His body hair began to grow coarse and long, turning brown, and his eyes enlarged, with his pupils being consumed by a red glow. Two bloody holes appeared at the corners of his mouth, from which his previous large mandibles extended. His body height also grew from that of a normal person to nearly eight feet (two and a half meters).
He had turned into a monster again, which he never expected. He thought everything was over, but fate was playing a joke on him.
Looking at his reflection in the mirror, Klein furiously vented his anger on the furniture, leaving the house a mess. Then, Klein hid in a room and turned off the light, hoping to calm down.
He hadn't been hiding long when he heard movement on the rooftop. He couldn't quite make out what they were saying. Then Big Black broke in and turned off the lights, which attracted Klein out of the room.
"Hey, I asked you a question," Klein growled in an extremely hoarse voice. Klein's vocal cords had changed after transforming into his monster form.
Big Black gripped the laser sword defensively and turned on the switch. A scorching laser beam shot out, forming a blade of light. Tonight was destined to be Big Black's time to shine.
"A laser sword?!" Klein was somewhat surprised. He hadn't expected the movie-like technology to actually have been developed. But on second thought, if Iron Man existed, why not a laser sword?
"What exactly are you here for?" Klein grew nervous. Someone with a laser sword must be from some kind of organization. Had the government discovered him? Were they sending agents to capture him now?
