Chapter 458 - Chapter 458: My Former Sister

Chapter 458: My Former Sister

Silas sat on the edge of the rooftop, gazing down at the cars passing through the streets below. How was he supposed to get back?

Even if Peter used the Infinity Stones to bring everyone back, it was impossible for the Stones to reach him here. No matter how powerful the Infinity Stones were, they couldn't affect this world; otherwise, movie characters would have broken the fourth wall to kill people long ago.

"No, I can't just sit here and wait." Silas stood up on the edge. "Blacklight."

"I am here, Master," Blacklight's voice emerged.

Aside from Silas and the System, Blacklight had also followed him to this world. Because the Infinity Stones had disintegrated Silas's entire body, they had also taken the Blacklight parasite living within him.

"We have a major task ahead of us," Silas said, stretching his limbs.

"What is required, Master?" Blacklight stood ready.

Silas looked up at the sky, a trace of excitement in his eyes. "We need to punch a giant hole through the ceiling up there."

"Erm... apologize, Master. I do not quite understand the meaning of that phrase." Blacklight performed a quick calculation but couldn't grasp the intended expression.

"I definitely need to update your conversion algorithms next time," Silas rolled his eyes. Such a passionate moment, interrupted by Blacklight's literal interpretation.

"..." Blacklight remained silent.

Silas walked along the ledge. "Look, the reason we ended up in this world is because the Infinity Stones recognized our death in the Marvel world."

"So, what we need to do now is wait for Peter and the others to use the Snap to revive us, and simultaneously, we need to build a 'Wall-Breaker' ourselves..." Silas was happily outlining the plan.

Blacklight suddenly interrupted, "Pardon me, Master, but by 'Wall-Breaker,' do you mean a food processing device that breaks down the cell walls of fruits and vegetables to promote better digestion and absorption?"

"Uh... not that kind." Silas frowned. What even is that?

"Apologies for the interruption," Blacklight said. He was currently listening to Silas while simultaneously hacking into the internet to understand this world.

Silas nodded and continued, "The 'Wall-Breaker' I'm talking about is a machine that can break the dimensional wall. I'll call it the Wall-Breaker for short."

"Attempting to simulate the feasibility of a Wall-Breaker... Simulation successful. Success rate: 1%." Blacklight calculated the rationality of the machine with extreme speed.

"One percent? Why so low?" Silas was surprised. He expected a low rate, but 1% seemed excessive.

"There is a 50% chance you will be torn to shreds by spatial turbulence, a 30% chance you will enter another world, a 10% chance the construction of the machine will fail, and the remaining 9% is reserved for various unexpected incidents."

Blacklight dutifully analyzed every possibility. For him, this was a massive undertaking.

"First of all, I now have the Dog Talisman for immortality. That 50% chance of being torn to shreds becomes a success. That puts me at 51%. Furthermore! The machine will be built successfully!"

Silas's eyes shone with confidence. "So, rounding up, our success rate is actually 100%!"

"...Understood, Master." Blacklight felt as though his system were about to crash again. Was his algorithm truly that flawed?

"As for the materials... we'll use my suit." The nano-suit receded from Silas's body, folding into a neat pile of clothing. His nano-suit was the best material available; there was nothing better in this world.

"I'll build the prototype. As for you, Blacklight... Right, I need to update your algorithms. We have heavy work ahead." Silas chuckled. Returning to Marvel was within reach.

After a moment's thought, Silas opened a portal to Africa. That was the best place for him to conduct experiments in peace. As for other supplies, he would simply take them from the world's major powers—he had done the same in the Marvel world, after all.

"Blacklight, help me find someone," Silas said, pausing before he began his work.

"Who?" Blacklight asked.

Silas's gaze deepened as he slipped into memory. "He's in China... his name is Qiu Feng."

"One moment, Master... Found. There are 30,000 people named Qiu Feng in China. Which one are you looking for?" Blacklight's efficiency in this area was top-tier.

"He passed away at the age of eighteen," Silas said, coming back to the present.

"Found, Master." As Blacklight spoke, a virtual screen appeared before Silas.

A picture of a sunny young man appeared, though the photo was now in black and white.

Qiu Feng—Silas's former self before he transmigrated. He had been an ordinary college freshman who died of a sudden heart attack.

Silas took a deep breath. Since he was here, it would be wrong not to visit this world one last time.

After giving Blacklight a new set of algorithms for a self-update, Silas arrived in the Chinese city where he used to live. To avoid drawing attention, he opened a portal in a quiet alley.

The surroundings hadn't changed; everything looked exactly as it had in his memories, as if he had only left yesterday. Pedestrians walked past, giving him only brief glances before continuing their business. While foreigners weren't a common sight in this small town, they weren't exactly rare specimens like giant pandas either.

Following his long-buried memories, Silas reached his old home. It looked like someone else was living there now; his family must have moved away from this place of sorrow.

Silas placed his hand on the iron gate but hesitated to knock. After a moment, he turned and left.

After asking around, Silas found his way to the cemetery.

"Hah... looking at my own grave. This is a weird feeling," Silas laughed self-deprecatingly, shaking his head.

"Who are you?" A soft, pleasant voice came from behind him.

Silas turned abruptly. A familiar person stood there—a petite, adorable girl. Her presence seemed to bring a natural smile to the air. The spring breeze caught her white dress and her long, waist-length black hair.

"I... I'm a friend of Qiu Feng." Silas's expression was momentarily panicked, but he quickly regained his composure. He was a veteran of the Marvel world, after all. He could lie without blinking.

"My brother's friend?" Qiu Yu knit her brows slightly. She had never heard of her brother having any foreign friends.

Qiu Yu placed a bunch of white chrysanthemums at her brother's grave. Standing beside Silas, she asked softly, "Hello, my name is Qiu Yu. What's yours? I never heard my brother mention you."

"My name is Silas Parker. Qiu Feng and I were pen pals. Strictly speaking, we never met in person. When he stopped writing, I followed the address he gave me to find him, but..."

Silas glanced at the grave, his meaning clear.

"I see. Thank you for coming to see him. It's been two years since he passed," Qiu Yu said, turning to Silas with a warm smile.

Silas was dazed for a moment, then quickly recovered. "It's nothing. I was his... pen pal, after all."

"Your Chinese is very good," Qiu Yu complimented, showing her cute canine teeth.

"Is it? I started learning when I became pen pals with him," Silas lied with an embarrassed smile.

As he spoke, he secretly opened a tiny portal behind his back. A Shadow Ninja on the other side handed him a bouquet of white chrysanthemums. Silas brought them forward as if by magic.

"Was that a magic trick?" Qiu Yu gasped, covering her mouth in surprise.

"Mm-hm." Silas placed the flowers atop Qiu Yu's chrysanthemums.

"That's amazing. Now that you've seen my brother, where are you going?" Qiu Yu asked.

"Well... I don't really have anywhere to go. I'll probably head back soon," Silas replied.

Qiu Yu nodded thoughtfully, studying Silas. For some reason, she felt a sense of warmth from him, as if her brother were still by her side.

"Silas," Qiu Yu called out suddenly.
