Chapter 462: Traveling Through Time with the Rabbit Talisman
Silas stared directly at the Virtual Silas, his eyes firm with a look that brooked no refusal.
"I said, I can't tell you now. You'll understand later. If you insist on me telling you now, I'll choose to disappear."
The Virtual Silas was completely unfazed. Whether Silas believed him or not had no impact on him because the future timeline was already set.
"Fine. Tell me, how do I build the 'Wall-Breaker'? And how do I cross through time?" Silas sat on a table, no longer wanting to waste time arguing. He had to get back to the Marvel world as soon as possible to prevent any unforeseen catastrophes.
The Virtual Silas smiled. "You forgot something very important: the Rabbit Talisman."
"The Rabbit Talisman? I know it can be used for time travel, but its speed is nowhere near enough for this." Silas had thought about using the Rabbit Talisman before Thanos arrived—perhaps to go back in time and snatch the Infinity Stones first.
He knew that changing the past would only create a branch universe and wouldn't affect his own home universe. Silas usually didn't care about anything that didn't affect his home reality. It was because he knew his own personality so well that he didn't fully trust this version of himself claiming to be from another timeline.
"Did you forget how Jade traveled through time with the Rabbit Talisman in the original Jackie Chan Adventures?" Virtual Silas's words were a sudden wake-up call.
Right. In the original series, Jade traveled through time because the Rabbit Talisman was hit by an amplified laser, pushing its speed past the temporal threshold.
"I see." The corners of Silas's mouth curled upward. His return to Marvel was within reach.
"Good that you understand. My energy is almost depleted. These are the schematics for a dimensional-wall machine designed by my universe's Tony Stark. He and I tried to build one."
"But we failed. Because we weren't from the Prime Universe, the rules of reality wouldn't allow us to succeed. But you're different, Silas. You belong to the Prime Universe," Virtual Silas said, looking at him.
"That doesn't add up. If what you're saying is true, how did you get here?" Silas spotted a loophole. If the laws of reality prevented him from crossing dimensions, how was he standing in the real world right now?
"The reason I could come here is a separate matter. You don't need to worry about that. Just worry about getting yourself back. My energy is out. Bye~"
Virtual Silas waved from the air and then dissolved into nothingness, leaving only the silver metal fragment behind.
"He certainly leaves in a hurry." Silas tossed the metal fragment in his hand. "Blacklight, get ready for the journey home."
"Yes, Master." Blacklight began reviewing the schematics left by the Virtual Silas.
The nano-suit on the ground slowly unfolded, moving like a cluster of writhing insects as it reorganized itself. Soon, it took the shape of a black machine resembling a printer, though it appeared only half-finished.
"There is a problem, Master. We are short on nano-material," Blacklight reported.
Silas casually tossed the metal fragment onto the unfinished machine. "We still have this piece."
Clack!
The metal fragment spun on the surface of the Wall-Breaker and attached itself, providing the necessary material for the next stage.
Building the Wall-Breaker would take time. Although the initial assembly looked fast, it was currently just a model to simulate structural logic. Once the simulation was confirmed, the internal systems would be built to avoid wasting precious materials.
While Blacklight worked, Silas didn't stay idle. He summoned his Shadow Ninjas and had them scour the world for every specific metal he needed.
"The amplifier..." Silas sat at the console, his nimble hands sliding across virtual screens—zooming in, zooming out. In the blink of an eye, the metals brought by the Shadow Ninjas filled the entire lab.
"Still too small." Silas glanced at the pile of materials and turned to Blacklight. "Give me a few micro-robots."
"Understood, Master." Blacklight immediately drew some Vibranium to forge three spider-robots no larger than a thumb.
The spider-robots scurried to Silas's side. Following his orders, they used the raw materials to build several man-sized humanoid robots.
"Blacklight!" Silas called.
Blacklight understood immediately, planting sub-systems into the robot bodies. Their eyes glowed blue as they turned to begin expanding the lab.
Ignoring the robots behind him, Silas rotated a virtual screen and typed in lines of code. Two spider-robots picked up materials, their eyes emitting high-intensity lasers that cut through metal like butter, creating the precise components Silas required. The third spider-robot assembled them according to the blueprints. He didn't use the Shadow Ninjas for this; the work was too delicate for them.
In this isolated desert lab, the air was filled with the rhythmic clanging of steel. A tan lizard nearby tilted its head, curious about the metal beast being built in the wasteland.
One Hour Later
"Phew~" Silas carefully blew a puff of air onto the amplifier to clear away the white smoke. A pentagonal device sat in his hand, no larger than his palm.
"The output port is ready. It's a shame we don't have better materials to make a more refined version." Silas turned to look at the massive "iron block" behind him, which looked like a tangle of heavy water pipes.
He snapped the output port into the main interface and, after ensuring it was secure, opened the machine's intake.
Vroom—
A low, beast-like growl echoed through the room. Blue lights flickered across the amplifier, illuminating the lab.
Beep! Beep! Beep!
The needle on the gauge spiked, instantly breaking past the 100 mark and charging toward 200.
"That's not good." Silas rushed to the vibrating machine, trying to lower the energy output. The amplifier was like an enraged boar, shaking violently. It was about to go critical.
"What a headache." Silas extended his hand. A bright emerald light flowed from his palm and washed over the machine, calming the frantic beast. This was the healing power of the Horse Talisman—it worked on mechanical systems just as well as living organisms.
Under the Horse Talisman's soothing influence, the needle dropped back to a safe 60. Everything looked stable. Silas breathed a sigh of relief.
With the amplifier steady, Silas closed his eyes. A surge of blue energy flowed from his body, manifesting into the stone form of the Rabbit Talisman. Silas grabbed it, feeling the terrifying kinetic energy stored within.
"It all comes down to this." Silas placed the Rabbit Talisman into the amplifier's chamber. After one final check, his hand hovered over the ignition button.
A Shadow Ninja appeared beside Blacklight, taking him and the Wall-Breaker into the Shadow Kingdom. If the experiment failed, Silas didn't want the machine to be destroyed.
The three micro-spider robots scrambled in terror and hid inside Silas's collar, their eight legs huddled together as if fearing for their lives.
"Are you serious? You're robots," Silas muttered. How can they be so afraid of death? I'm definitely deleting that sub-routine next time.
Refocusing on the amplifier, Silas wasn't afraid. With the Dog Talisman, he was immortal. Even if the lab exploded, he would be fine. He slammed his hand down on the start button.
Clack!
