Li Mo remained silent, then suddenly raised his hand. Just as Yin Xiu was about to draw his sword, his palm reached over Yin Xiu's head and onto him.
Just as Yin Xiu raised a hint of doubt, he heard the sound of breaking glass above him. Li Mo reached into the portrait above Yin Xiu's head, grabbed the spirit that had just informed the town mayor, and pulled him out of the painting.
"Aaaaaaah!!!" The spirit let out a miserable scream as it was torn to pieces in Li Mo's hands, then coiled into a small ball and thrown into his mouth.
The familiar chewing sound rang out, but the screams continued unabated. The spirit was still screaming, while Li Mo calmly smiled and ate.
Because they were so close, Yin Xiu could even clearly hear the sound of the spirit being torn apart, rolling down its throat and then being swallowed softly, at which point the scream abruptly stopped.
A silence fell over the secret room; there were no more sounds of chewing or tearing, only Yin Xiu's silence.
He slowly relaxed, looked up at Li Mo, and said coldly, "Why are you so close to me? Do you have to show me your amazing skill of eating monsters alive?"
Li Mo narrowed his eyes, seemingly in a better mood. Despite Yin Xiu's strong urge to draw his sword, he pulled Yin Xiu up and, just like last time, pressed his entire weight against him, pinning him against the wall.
The icy touch seeped through his clothes, and this inhuman body temperature constantly reminded Yin Xiu that what was hanging on him was merely a human form, and it was hard to say what lay beneath that form. Even though the human was acting affectionately towards Yin Xiu, he absolutely could not let his guard down.
"What are you doing?" Yin Xiu raised his hand to push away Li Mo's face as he leaned closer. The wall behind him was cold, and Li Mo, who was pressed against him, was also icy cold, making it hard for him to bear the low temperature.
"Go to sleep," Li Mo replied with a smile.
"Sleeping in a coffin, right?" Yin Xiu recalled the strange condition he had mentioned. "But there are no coffins in the dungeon that can fit two people. I don't want to sleep in the mayor's coffin, which has been used by countless dead people."
Li Mo's smile widened. "I have it."
Yin Xiu had virtually no room to refuse.
He calculated the time; the sacrificial ceremony had already taken place, and it was almost time to sleep. He had also obtained the mayor's incriminating evidence in the basement, so he could indeed go to sleep and spend the night.
"Alright then." Yin Xiu nodded, and Li Mo finally let go of him.
The two of them left the basement together.
"The first player to successfully enter the basement, survive the mayor's death, and emerge alive."
"Although I'm happy to see this side story, I can't copy this homework!! No matter how I think about it, I can't possibly survive like him!"
"I've given up thinking about it. Anyway, this is a beginner dungeon. I can clear it without going to the basement. I choose not to go!"
"I've given up on copying Yin Xiu's strategy. I can't learn it. I'll just watch for fun and see if Yin Xiu can survive the dungeon."
"I'm quite the comedian now. Look at Yin Xiu and his roommate, hehe, I really thought his roommate was about to make a move just now."
"I was so scared that I almost died, but it turned out he just ate a weirdo."
"Although I don't know what my roommate's purpose is for Yin Xiu, he feels safer than the mayor. Damn it, why did I have to develop feelings for a weirdo!"
"When he's willing to stand in front of you and face the mayor, you're bound to develop a good impression of him."
"That makes sense, but I don't have a roommate like that."
The comments section was buzzing with discussion as people watched the two people emerge from the basement, leave the house, and head out of town.
Where are they going?
"They said they were going to sleep in a coffin..."
"Ah... sleeping in a coffin... um, I've given up thinking about it."
After Li Mo led Yin Xiu out of the town, they arrived at a cemetery in a small grove of trees. In the desolate and gloomy abandoned forest, there were seven or eight graves.
Yin Xiu watched silently as Li Mo chose an auspicious location for them, and then dug a pit with his bare hands on this dark and windy night.
His hands were as sharp as weapons, and he dug the soil with remarkable skill, even digging a large pit in no time. Then, he patted the soil off his arms, resumed his elegant posture, turned to look at Yin Xiu, and said softly, "Close your eyes."
Yin Xiu: ?
Li Mo repeated again: "Close your eyes, just for a little while."
Yin Xiu silently closed his eyes, unsure what else this person didn't want him to see.
Yin Xiu couldn't see it, but the comments section could.
They clearly saw that after Yin Xiu closed his eyes, Li Mo's human form instantly transformed into a twisted, sticky, and indescribable figure, with countless tentacles extending into the air. Its black body was covered with eyes, and any being that met its gaze would instantly begin to collapse mentally.
The moment the player in front of the screen makes eye contact with the eyes on the screen, it feels as if a sharp scream is tearing at their nerves, causing them to become dazed and their eyes to glaze over.
Some people hurriedly covered their eyes, while others became dazed. Not only the players, but even the monsters trembled with fear.
The live stream was suddenly shut down after flashing for two seconds.
Within the twisted figure, a huge double coffin was pulled from a mouth filled with sharp teeth by tentacles and then slowly placed into the pit he had prepared. Meanwhile, the other mouths kept repeating the instructions, "Close your eyes, close your eyes, close your eyes."
The sound lingered in the silent forest at night, accompanied by the chill in the air. Yin Xiu inexplicably felt short of breath, and his whole body trembled uncontrollably. It was a fear that rose from the bottom of his heart, which could not be suppressed by reason.
He felt something slowly reach out and wander around him, but it didn't touch him.
He was surrounded by a dense array of gazes, not just one or two, but many, many eyes staring at him.
Fortunately, this sharp fear did not last long and gradually disappeared.
Then Li Mo's voice rang out in front of her, "Open your eyes."
Yin Xiu immediately opened his eyes, alert to his surroundings.
But nothing had changed around them: a desolate forest, seven or eight graves, and opposite them, Li Mo, dressed in a suit, smiling primly. Apart from a black double coffin in the pit next to them, nothing had changed.
Yin Xiu let out a long sigh of relief, only to realize that his hands were stiff, unconsciously gripping the knife hilt, his fingertips even turning white with tension.
Was he truly terrified of the unknown entity he had just encountered, or was he simply unable to receive any external information due to his closed eyes, and merely holding the knife and remaining vigilant was already his limit?
"Are you done?" he asked, his face pale. He felt extremely tired and couldn't wait to go to sleep.
"Alright." Li Mo opened the coffin lid, revealing a space large enough for two people to lie down inside.
Yin Xiu didn't even bother to ask, and simply rolled over and lay down on his side, leaving room for Li Mo.
But Li Mo didn't come in directly. Instead, he stood by the pit and stared at him with his eyes down. The probing and scrutinizing gaze made Yin Xiu very uncomfortable.
"What's wrong?"
"I think that person is right." Li Mo nodded, staring at Yin Xiu, who was lying in the coffin with a pale face. He really looked like a corpse, lifeless, and he looked even more like one after lying in the coffin.
"Cover yourself if you're not going to sleep, I'm going to sleep." Yin Xiu had no interest in his taste, which resonated with the town mayor's, and simply urged him on.
Li Mo also rolled over and lay down inside, and then an invisible force closed the coffin lid for them.
In the pitch-black space, Yin Xiu stared unblinkingly into the darkness before him. His tense emotions had not yet been able to relax immediately, not to mention that there was an unknown being lying next to him.
"Lying like this, this must be what a human burial is like, right?"
"It's like we're welcoming the end of life together."
Li Mo said this out of the blue.
Yin Xiu slowly closed his eyes, ignoring the words, but for some reason felt that the sentence sounded familiar, as if he had heard it said by someone before.
But his increasingly hazy memories over the past two years failed to provide him with an answer.
Li Mo turned his head and looked at Yin Xiu, who had not said a word or reacted. His gaze darkened and he looked somewhat disappointed.
"Good night," he said softly.
Yin Xiu's tense consciousness instantly subsided, and he fell into a deep sleep.
